What exactly can the US do? Germany will just say fuck off.

It's all political theater.

The theory is that non US pharma companies make drugs so cheap, that they don't "pay their fair share of research and innovation". So apparently Americans have to pay high prices, to cover the cost of American research that the world benefits from.

Nothing to do with the US insurance model bloating the cost of everything.

So countries like Germany need to increase prices, or Trump will tariff them... Making Americans pay more for cheaper German drugs, as well as American drugs!

It's almost like he didn't think this through at all. Or tariffs are his favourite toy.

Not quite. Because Trump's tariffs have become a massive wealth transfer.

American taxpayers had to pay price increases at the till, so that the US companies could pay the US government the increased tarrifs.

Then the courts found that billions of dollars of the tarrifs were illegal. So these billions were paid back to the companies that paid the government.

Who don't have to pay it back to customers.

So while Trump keeps pulling the trigger. It's the US consumer that gets hurt.

Meanwhile Trumps wealth has trebled in 2 years!

Which is ironic, while the US is leading in some medical fields, it's far from all. Ozempic/wegovy is just a recent one that swept the world and it's from the country they're trying to wrestle greenland from. Incidentally Denmark is also one of the leaders in cancer treatment and research.

And it's clear a lot of the research the US does is in how to renew the same ol stuff to release and renew patterns.
