Minimum.. easy. Then again I was born before 95

u/Nat-Luv 11h ago

I was born before 1995, too. I was glad when they finally invented kerning. Things are way easier to read nowadays.

Except for them poor Metal bands. They were led astray by Blackletter (the calligraphy style in OP’s post) and turned to the dark side.

u/MonseigneurChocolat 10h ago

Yeah, keming was an awesome invention.

u/gruuvey 8h ago

Yeah, keminq really changed things.

u/kontobo 2h ago

Can't tell if it's irony or not. Kerning really changed my life

u/swollen-hol3 7h ago

Metal bands? You mean shoe gaze and like 5 percent of black metal bands? Because unintelligible wad of roots is kinda like the unwavering meta.

u/Nat-Luv 4h ago

Man, I love me some shoegaze. This is the second post I've engaged in today that led to that specific genre. Gonna be throwing some Cocteau Twins, Catherine Wheel, Lush, Sungaze, Cool Heat, and Swerve Driver on throughout the week. If anyone has a new smalltime shoegaze band to recommend, dm me. I'd love to add them into my rotation.

u/Milk_Specific 11h ago

2006, can in fact read minimum. Granted, it took a second of staring at it.

u/mrseemsgood 11h ago

I was born after 95. I don't know why this would be hard to read. Probably just boomer humour lol

u/noleafclovr 11h ago

no millenial humor. as i am one and am familiar with this script.

u/AllMyFrendsArePixels 9h ago

Just because you can read the word doesn't make the joke itself "millennial humor". We don't make fun of younger generations 'round here; if you do, you're no millennial of mine.

u/shujaya 4h ago

Does this person think this is what cursive is?

u/Sleipsten 10h ago

mini mi... easy. Then again I'm a native spanish speaker

u/KekistaniKekin 11h ago

I was not and yet I still caught it almost immediately

u/maniacalmechanist 11h ago

I got it right away as a 96er so…

u/Dull-Law3229 10h ago

Yeah I was surprised why this was seen as so hard.

u/benmargery 7h ago

I was born 2000 and I can read it easy

u/Cheese_Ly 6h ago

Even I got this and I’m dyslexic

u/blueblocker2000 11h ago

Me too and I could read it, but it was tortuous.

u/SaltedSnailSurviving 11h ago

2001 here. Yep, I could read it.

u/Homerpaintbucket 11h ago

It’s actually more amazing that anyone can read that

u/finger_licking_robot 11h ago

u/HubrisOfApollo 8h ago

dang I thought it was 𝔦𝔦𝔦𝔦𝔦𝔦𝔦𝔦𝔦𝔦𝔦𝔦𝔦𝔦𝔦

u/WhiteRabbit_412_ 8h ago

I read munmum but I knew it was minimum

u/Dissidence802 8h ago

Alexa, play Crazy Train.

u/Pzzlrr 5h ago

yeah but this font has more readable kerning.

u/ElectroshockTherapy 11h ago

Sure, I know it's "minimum," but it's not helpful that the final "u" and "m" are connected.

u/buckfordfitchenstein 10h ago

True dat, it could have been minimoz

u/Conspiratorymadness 11h ago

I knew it was minimum because of the first 3 letters.

u/TesticleCastrator 11h ago

boomers say this shit then give away their life's savings to an Indian scammer

u/Greedyfox7 11h ago

They said they could read, not use a computer

u/skeeferd 10h ago

DO NOT REEEEDEEM! NOOOOO!

MAM WHAT IS THE GOOGLE PLAY CARD NUMBER MAM PLEASE

u/Soggy_Association491 2h ago

That's what getting used to living in a high trust society get you.

u/ChapterThr33 9h ago

Worse, an orange rapist

u/agitated--crow 8h ago

Garfield?

u/White-armedAtmosi 11h ago

Born in 2001, i can read it. But not putting the dot on the i is just lazy.

I was trained on my moms handwriting. The word Unimog would look like from her like Uuiuuog.

u/SizeableBrain 7h ago

My mum was a doctor in Russia.

I still struggle to read her writing, even when she tries to be neat.

u/TheArcher0527 5h ago

Born in 2002 and could read that just fine. Lack of dots is just to fuck with the readers and call them illiterate

u/Deaf_Sentence 11h ago

They’re supposed to add the dots above the i, its minimum

u/IllErrl710 11h ago

I guess whoever made this couldn't do the bare minimum

u/RepresentativeOk2433 1h ago

Yes. Hence the joke directly underneath it that says exactly that.

u/badhouseplantbad 11h ago

calligraphy isn't cryptography

u/Somebodsydog 11h ago

Minimum

u/MyrddinSidhe 11h ago

Of effort needed

u/gellshayngel 11h ago

Born in the 1980s and its making me do this to read it

u/buckfordfitchenstein 11h ago

That might be a separate issue ngl

u/Shocked-Hearts 11h ago

Minimum was pretty easy born 2000.

u/Nice_Revolution_1199 11h ago

Me, as someone who was definitely born post 1995:

"That's an L---wait no, is that an I? And another I? And another I? Wait, is that an M? Or an N? OK, it's an M. And after that---an I? And then two more I's? Or wait, no, that's an N. Great. M-I-N. Screw it, we're just going to say it's MINIMUM."

u/granadesnhorseshoes 11h ago

Yep, that's exactly how it works for us pre95ers too. it was a pita then, its a pita now, fuck nostalgia.

u/knowplownow 11h ago

Doesn't look like anything to me

u/LadaFanatic 11h ago

Minimum

u/nekomina 11h ago

Indeed. Still, would need dots on the i's.

u/bearsfan16 11h ago

Not if you spell it mInImum

u/IdleRhymer 4h ago

doo doo, doo doo doo

u/MothaFungus 11h ago

u/bigorangemachine 8h ago

u/MothaFungus 8h ago

u/-WookieGeneralAk 11h ago

Westworld?

u/knowplownow 11h ago

Indeed.

u/khalcyon2011 11h ago

This is why kerning is important

u/FN20817 9h ago

I‘d say you’d have to cut off at minimum 2005

u/jellooshot 2h ago

I'm born in 1998. It's minimum. Go fuck yourself *mike drop sound * /s

u/much_longer_username 11h ago

Honestly I only know it says minimum because of the memes about it. Like, I learned to write in cursive, not in gothic script.

u/EllaMcWho 11h ago

As someone trying to learn Russian … I can relate. Russian cursive appears similarly similar.

u/GreyFox_KSA 11h ago

As others said: the word is "minimum".

I add that to distinguish between the letters, look at the top / bottom strikes. Aside from the the letter "i" which is composed of one strand, the letters "m"s and "n" have the top strikes connected, whereas the letter "u" has the bottom strikes connected

u/BrushesMcDeath 11h ago

mmmmm😋

u/bachintheforest 11h ago

Ah yes, 1994, when everything was still written in gothic calligraphy. Anyways time to go watch the latest episode of

u/Maui-The-Magificent 10h ago

Oh, I love the crash test dummies

u/LacToastInToddlerAnt 10h ago

WHY ARE THE LETTERS NOT LINED UP WITH THE DOTS?!?

u/bruh-moment970 9h ago

minimum

u/screenmasher 9h ago

Minimum effort post

u/Shincosutan 9h ago

1995 cutoff is too early, I was born in 96 and they didn't switch over to using computers until I was almost done with school. I would say this should also be familiar to kids born closer to year 2000 depending on your country I guess.

u/EntertainmentTrue588 8h ago

Fun fact, the dot over the i is called a tittle. So Evan is literally asking to see OOOP's tittles

u/comsudo 1h ago

u/SillyLiving 11h ago

Minimum. Anyways. The world is burning.

u/QuesoCadaDia 11h ago

"Kids need to learn cursive to read historical documents" meanwhile, gothic minscule be like

u/AdFalse375 11h ago

Dot your i’s? That’s a lot of dots!!

u/Bunchiebo 11h ago

u/KenUsimi 11h ago

u/chrisdwv 10h ago

"minimum"

u/Necrotitis 10h ago

You still dot the i's in cursive, if you did that most people could figure it out.

illiteracy

Or

llllteracy

u/BenneB23 10h ago

Why does this have to involve a bored girl

u/LiePotential5338 10h ago

I was born in 1996 this is easy to read

u/Creative_Newspaper65 10h ago

I was born in 1995 it took me while but i got it

u/BusyBunny9 10h ago

Minimum for those who can’t read this atrocity

u/Aoi_X_Kaizaki 9h ago

this is heiroglyphs in it's minimum.

u/CaptivePlague 9h ago

Typically gothic fonts aren't this bad for this either, the letters are normally a LOT more distinct.

u/Vr4ngr 9h ago

Is this one of those davinci code words or whatever that reads upside down the same? What are those called? I remember using the Internet to make words into that back in my day. Not palindromes, something else

u/Torebbjorn 9h ago

It's very easy to read that...

If it was sloppily written, then it would be harder.

u/ShockwaveX1 9h ago

1996 here and I was able to make it out

u/Blazdnconfuzd 9h ago

Minimum what.

u/Affectionate-War-786 8h ago

Chatgpt, what does this say? Click Boom

u/sportsnsaturn 8h ago

I was born way before 1995 and I thought it was a crash test dummies joke

u/Mr-howell 8h ago

1982 and had no problem.

u/TheChunkenMaster 8h ago

I was born 98 but was able to figure it out.

Then again I only saw it because the meme told me there was a word in there. I wouldve assumed it was a bunch of i’s otherwise

u/rocqus 8h ago

I remember reading some old English pictures of scrolls in history class that looked like this.

u/No_Food5753 8h ago

I could read it immediately, and I was born over a decade after. Huh

u/GreaterMichiganMaps 7h ago

Minimum duh

u/Anfitruos0413 7h ago

Old person: No one born past 1995 can fly

Me: Gravity, is a harness

u/sp4ng13d 7h ago

Raise that MINIMUM to 1999 baby let’s goooo!

u/Unfair_List676 7h ago

Jokes on you! My eyesight's gone to shit.

u/milkskins9 6h ago

2004 minimum 😜 was taught cursive in second grade

u/Overall_Win4144 6h ago

My primary school pushed us to do cursive writing, then when I went to a new primary school it was removed bc they didnt want me to write in cursive. Now n then that trait slips into my hand writing

u/kayvis7 5h ago

Illuminati

u/Hindsights20_20 4h ago

M i n i m u m. When you’re in a swing, kick your legs to get mo minimum. Minimum.

u/JadeS2356 4h ago

Minimum. You can see where the m, n, and i are disconnected.

u/RahovartIV 3h ago

Do the majority of people use various forms of mobile payment over a physical card?

u/Demi180 2h ago

iiiiiiiiiiiiiii

I know what it says, but if someone said that to me, this is what I’d reply with lol

u/ben_obi_wan 2h ago

If they dotted the I's it would be much more legible. Or if whoever posted didn't Photoshop out the dots

u/TelevisionMental1520 1h ago

Born in 2011 mind u

u/fieregon 1h ago

Brother, I am from the 80s, wtf is this supposed to be?

u/XKruXurKX 1h ago

Why wouldn't someone add the tittle over those "i's"? It's bare minimum.

u/hopelesspeeslosh 11m ago

Never forget to add titties over your eyes.

u/Jie-T-Doll 1h ago

there are clear breakes between the letters. no problem. But if you dont dot your i our teachers would mark it as a mistake

u/MichiruYamila 1h ago

minimum, really not that difficult

u/andersen97 40m ago edited 34m ago

Minimum 1997

u/Aboxofphotons 35m ago

Im hungry and this is the reason why this says: pizza, and not minimum.

u/Forest_Orc 9m ago

The irony is that the people born before 85 can't read it either, eye become shit when you're old

u/TheCrazyHans 4m ago

Ah good ol' engagement bait...

Well I guess here I go engaging again.

Also read it before I read the stupid statement. It ain't hard or apparently just as hard as dotting the i-s for someone.

u/maillite 11h ago

Minimum

u/Ambitious_Policy_936 11h ago

Imagine if it was connected at the bottom like real cursive. Not doting each i should be a finable offense

u/Calculon2347 11h ago

Jokes aside, reading old Gothic script is like reading chicken scratch

No wonder italic script dominated it almost everywhere FTW

edit: oh the Gothic script fanboys are fuuuuuuming right now lol

u/allotmentboy 11h ago

what did he say about my mum?

u/LonelyEar42 11h ago

u/PhantomNitride 8h ago

Words like this are why I hate cursive...

u/Traveling_1895 11h ago

That's not cursive. It's printing, just in some "elegant" fobt.

u/-Left_Nut- 11h ago

Calligraphy

u/RingOfHeavensCall 11h ago edited 11h ago

its like they tryna blame us for not being taught that

it's not MY fault my school decided to give me the worst possible teachers for when I was younger so I never ended up learning cursive

edit: misunderstanding, you may laugh at my idiocy

u/halfasleep90 11h ago

This isn’t cursive, it’s an awful font

u/RingOfHeavensCall 11h ago

well how would I know

u/DeviantHellcat 11h ago

It's calligraphy.

u/ReluctantChimera 11h ago

There's a version of this where it is actually written in cursive. They don't dot the i's on that one either, because that would completely destroy their little trick.

u/RingOfHeavensCall 11h ago

I had no way of knowing anyhow

but the misunderstanding seems kind of understandable? Or am I just plain stupid
