Upvotes

Hello RFM community and welcome to our monthly release post! In the monthly post we showcase new books released by our community authors.

General

Daniel's Dilemma by Jonny Rogers

She’s gorgeous. She’s kind. And she’s his best mate’s mum.

For the past ten years, Daniel has been drifting through life with the volume on low, settling into a quiet existence where every day feels the same. But determined to start living again, he enrols at university, throws himself into an engineering challenge, and reluctantly agrees to spend a weekend at his new friend Jamie’s house.

What he doesn’t expect is Jamie’s mum.

Julie is warm, funny, endlessly caring... and far more beautiful than Daniel knows how to handle. Daniel knows exactly where the line is, and he has no intention of crossing it. After all, how is he supposed to look Jamie in the eye when he can't seem to stop noticing his mum? Yet a weekend meant to be filled with university projects and late-night films soon becomes something far more dangerous as the attraction between them becomes impossible to ignore.

Nothing can happen. Julie only sees him as Jamie's older friend. At least, that's what Daniel keeps telling himself. But what if Julie has started looking at him as something more?

Daniel's Dilemma is a funny, slow-burn romance about finding love when you least expect it.

Tomb Divers 2 by Robyn Bee

The Broken Mountain is an island of rock deep within a sea of endless sand. Shrouded in forgotten mysteries, the ancient fortress of the elves casts a shadow long enough to touch distant Ashura. Along it winds the path to Marduss’s lost tomb and for Naroh, a still penniless historian, it’s all he can do to keep from sprinting towards it.

Yet, crossing the Great Desert is not a thing to be taken lightly.

It is vast and empty, pitiless and uncompromising. There is nothing approaching kindness to be found between the dunes and spirits dance to blur the path ahead. Beyond that, a priest laughs, madness tugs at a relic-buyer’s grin, elven gangsters draw their knives, and a sister’s hatred burns like fire.

Survival will mean becoming more. It will mean the growth of a clan and relying on Eshi and Amna: two incredible women who have become so very important.

Return to New Eden: A Men's Urban Fantasy Adventure by Kurt Zenan

My name is Peter Thorn... And I can see the future.

Only three seconds at a time, though. Still, that's pretty good, right?

Along with my ability to 'know things' about people just by touching them, I earn a decent living as a private investigator in New York City. Until the day I take a case that leads me back to a place I never even knew I'd left.

New Eden. The city we're all sent to when we die. Where angels and demons walk the streets, and business is done using human souls as currency. A city governed by ancient and magical laws. Laws that, for some reason, don't seem to apply to me.

There, I'm reunited with two forgotten friends from my childhood. Jazeera, an affectionate demon who treats my personal space like a suggestion, and Sabine, a moody angel with a bad attitude and a twisted sense of humor.

With my unique freedoms, and two powerful women by my side, I'll piece together the mysteries of my past while facing the many dangers New Eden has to offer.

Three seconds might be just enough to give me an edge, but between the psychotic demons and walking nightmares competing for my life, I'm quickly finding out that this is one city you shouldn't take lightly.

Welcome to New Eden.

After the chaotic formation of his harem, Kevin is finally settling into his role as the coven’s leader and primary blood-source. The danger hasn't passed, but the fast-paced battles have made way for deeper, intoxicating connections. The Iron Lord by F.G. Smith

An engineer in a world of magic. The most dangerous combination imaginable.

Noah Calder didn't plan on falling through an ancient portal into Tenebrae — a world where Fae magic shapes reality and the men who can't wield it are considered nobody. But Noah has something better than magic: thirty years of engineering knowledge this world forgot it ever needed.

Ball bearings. Levers. A crossbow that actually works. And the growing attention of a pink-haired Fae scholar, a white-haired smuggler captain, and an entire tribe of wild Fae who are starting to wonder if this strange traveller is the most useful person they've ever met.

But finding the brother he came looking for is pulling Noah deeper into a world of ancient ruins, Fae politics, and a shadow growing in the east — a masked warlord called the Iron Lord, whose reach is longer than anyone knows.

Announcement Submissions for volume 2 of the RFM anthology are now open!

Upvotes

I'm in the process of getting started on volume 2 of the anthology and I'm going to do a couple of things a little differently this time around.

First, I am accepting submissions from this community and more broadly the public. You can find a link to the submission form below. I was a little nervous about this, as it could result in me getting a flood of manuscripts, or none at all. There is no editorial board, just me, but I'd like to read through everything submitted and give it a response. For that reason, when I get enough manuscripts, I'm going to close submissions; ie there is no set end date. I may also pause them as I catch up with what has been submitted. My hope is that if someone doesn't submit in time for vol 2, there will be a vol 3 right behind it that they can submit to.

The second thing I am doing differently is I am going to pay a flat rate of $150 for accepted manuscripts. While donating the proceeds of vol 1 was nice, I'm hoping paying writers going forward takes the project in a more sustainable direction.

There is more detailed information on the submission form below. Feel free to ask questions here or drop into the RFM discord and ask in the writers channel.

Manuscript submission here: https://forms.gle/7zmuzxT9vs4cCLM59

Feel free to share this with writers in who are (or have) considering giving RFM a try! A short story is a great way to test the waters.

Request Looking for a Strong Urban Fantasy Setting where the MaleMC starts pretty low

Upvotes

Looking for an Urban Fantasy story (Strong on the Urban and Fantasy Aspects) that start off with the MC either depressed or just generally down on his luck when things start turning around slowly with the MC building his name and the romance slowly. It can be Harem but I'd rather everything move slow, like the MC has to gain people's respect and trust before a female character actually looks his way

Discussion What would you think of a reverse Handmaid’s Tale story?

Upvotes

Where women are in charge and men are exploited for labor and/or reproduction, without the ability to reach higher positions. I feel like a lot of women appreciate this kind of setting for a dark romance but I’m curious about men’s opinion.

What was that book? Help finding an older book for a re-read!

Upvotes

It's been several years and I can't remember the author/title.

The protag, I think a prisoner, was loaded into a VRRPG and interacted with mainly NPCs other VR players. Eventually some of them joined into the game, I think. Thanks!

PS: a book from this year, 'Dungeons and Wives', got me thinking of it.

Request Looking for suggestions

Upvotes

Looking for suggestions for books in which the FMC is famous/queen/celebrity/ceo/(any powerful position or a school/college mean girl) and MMC is an average Joe. BUT in the relationship the FMC is a sub to the MMC not necessarily from a BDSM perspective. Like he calls the shots and she defers to him. Bonus if she is possessive of him.

Couple of relationships which I found:

- Bohemian: the FMC is a famous model and the MMC is a book shop owner.
- Charms city rocks: FMC is a rock star and MMC is a regular single father
- Immortal Supers: the MMC is NOT an average joe but to the general public he is. The third LI is a famous super hero.
- Princess of the Void and Wife after death by dukerino.

Review / Gush Sharing a good book

Upvotes

I'd seen people posting book reviews and recommending great reads, so I thought I'd give it a go.

Tinkertown by Phil Aerix is a fantastic blend of steampunk, fantasy, and harem elements that immediately pulls you in. The main character is genuinely likeable and watching him grow in strength and confidence feels natural and rewarding. The supporting cast is equally well developed, with each character adding depth, personality, and value to the story.

The plot is engaging, packed with interesting twists, exciting situations, and plenty of moments that keep the pages turning. The world-building is exceptionally well done, creating a setting that feels rich, immersive, and alive. More than once, I found myself saying, "Just one more chapter" because I needed to know what happened next.

The pacing is spot on, allowing the story to develop naturally while maintaining momentum throughout. There's also some spice, but unlike many books where it feels forced, here it complements the characters and story beautifully, making it feel like a genuine part of the narrative rather than an afterthought.

Overall, this is a well-written, exciting, and thoroughly enjoyable read that left me wanting more. In fact, I've since gone on to read books two and three, and each instalment builds on the last, making the series even stronger.

If you're looking for something that stands out from the crowd, give Tinkertown a try. I doubt you'll be disappointed. And if you enjoy this one, Phil Aerix's other series are just as outstanding and well worth your time.

Request Looking for stories where the MC and FMC are roommates

Upvotes

Hey! First time posting here. I'm looking for stories where, the MC for whatever reason, ends up being roommates with the FMC(s).

Preferably:

• Not set in a full fantasy world

• CR — preferably contemporary with little to no fantasy elements but I'm open to other settings too

• College/school setting

• Monoromance or harem — either is fine

• Actual roommate dynamic

• Slice-of-life elements are a plus

Thanks in advance! Feel free to recommend anything that fits the general idea, even if it doesn't match every preference.

Request Stories with chubby/fat MMCs?

Upvotes

First time posting here, I'm looking for any potential recommendations where the male main character is on the heavier side. I'm a chubby fella myself, and I primarily read romance to imagine myself in the story (embarrassing, but I doubt I'm alone in that) so a story where the male main character is chubby would be excellent. I haven't had a whole lot of luck finding stories like this, so I'm a little bit desperate.

I tend to prefer non-human love interests (anthros and aliens especially), though again I'm desperate enough for anything.

I'm Bisexual so M/F and M/M both work for me. Not big into harems/multiple partners but can work with it.

Gotta admit this post is a little embarrassing for me, but I'm seriously struggling to find anything that suits my tastes. Only found one other post on this sub with a similar request and none of the suggestions really appealed to me. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

Upvotes

Hello everyone! First post here, and today, I'd love to show you all a book I've been working on for a while!

Let me start this post by some questions you all might have, and then the blurb!

Is this fade to black?
No

Audiobook?
In december!

How long will this series be?
Depends a bit on how well it does/doesn't do, but I can guarantee 4 books at a minimum, with book 2 already written, and book 3 about halfway done.

Who's the artist?
I wanted to gatekeep but realized the names are in the book anyways. The cover artist is kikogum, and the character portraits are from argo!

Book 2 when?
Early November!

Alright then. Blurb time!

Money is power. Too bad he's broke.

Nathan Brody was an average college student in New York until his death transports him into his favorite video game, My Superhero Life. Finding himself in the Ako Superhero Academy inside this romance/action visual novel world, he discovers himself growing stronger with each dollar, unlocking abilities in a strange "Power Shop" system. But his wallet isn't the only thing the ladies have their eye on.

What should be a dream come true evolves into a nightmare as the plot doesn't play out as it should. Main Characters are missing, heroes are siding with the villains, and Nathan's own memories are blocked by an unknown force. Enrolled into class 1-F, the class for misfits with the weakest powers, he meets Alicia Banava, a small-time antagonist from the game, and Vermillion Strike, a teacher at the very school he studies at.

A war is supposed to begin in three years, and yet now, there is nobody to stop it. Worst of all, there's a strange system window with a ticking clock, and achieving the "happy ending" might be a bit more than Nathan ever asked for.

Discussion New to the Genre

Upvotes

I literally found this genre because of this subreddit. I'm fascinated because I had no idea men were catered to in this genre. I have so many questions. Would anyone be willing to educate me beyond the sub rules? Where to find books? What's good, what isn't good? Is it all porn or euphemisms like turgid, tumescent, engorged and the like? I'm 💯 serious. I'd love to explore the genre!

Promotion: Harem Pre-Order is ready for LET'S BE GODS TOGETHER BOOK #1!

Post image
Upvotes

Next week, LET'S BE GODS TOGETHER BOOK #1 comes out!

I wrote this book back in 2022 when I couldn't sleep. The only way I could beat the insomnia was to imagine I was in the main character's blue house in North Denver, with a goddess in my bed and a vampire downstairs watching movies all night. But maybe that's not a very good pitch for the book. Let's try this:

Saving the world is overrated. Becoming gods together? Now that's awesome.

Colt Holliday's life sucks.

Instead of inheriting his grandfather's business, he's working for idiots. Just when he's about to lose all hope, an ancient god of rage decides he’d make the perfect host.

Overnight, he goes from ordinary guy to a walking natural disaster—able to punch through monsters, pull the arms off vampires, and level buildings.

Thankfully, he's not facing the supernatural shenanigans alone.

His adorably awkward college crush, Gilly, ends up bonded to the goddess of lust. Suddenly, they're not just falling for each other—they're becoming gods together.

Of course, there are deranged overlords, killer werewolves, and fanatical hunters determined to get in the way. Fortunately, all the villains come apart surprisingly easily.

Turns out being a god is ridiculously fun.

https://www.amazon.com/Lets-Be-Gods-Together/dp/B0HFKR9TX2

Let's Be Gods Together is a VERY SPICY, funny, action-packed urban fantasy harem adventure packed with found family, romance, explosive battles, and enough divine chaos to make the old gods jealous.

This is a new title and cover for Rage King. I love this story so much, but I think that many readers didn't give it a chance because of the title and cover, so we are changing things up.

Request Comic book or graphic novel recommendations?

Upvotes

Hi all!

Any comic book or graphic novel recommendations that fit the themes of Romance for Men?

Over the years, I've seen some online comics with themes that interest me and work well as erotica. But I haven't really found many well-written graphic novels or comic books that explore the type of story this sub focuses on (for me, an earnest MMC and a confident/powerful FMC would be best).

Curious for any recommendations!

Promotion: General RFM Major Manly Vol. 1 is now out!

Upvotes

Michael Mallory has a problem—his rent is due, his bills are piling up, and he has only a little time to make a lot of cash. With no options left, Michael does the unthinkable and accepts an offer to film a raunchy video with four large hyena girls, thinking that selling his body for rent is not a high point in his life. Then, the even more unthinkable happens, and he likes the girls, and they like him, and soon he’s become part of their matriarchal pack, filming enough titillating content to make him an online sensation. Before he knows it, Michael Mallory has become Major Manly, submissive human extraordinaire, popular with every species on the market and ready to take the entertainment industry by storm, all with his four girls at his side. In a business where exploitation is the rule, friends count for everything, and Manly has the best.

Of course, nothing is ever simple, and the worst parts of his profession are not just in front of the camera. Low pay, demanding shoots, unfulfilled desire, more temptation and vice than one man can shake a toy at—and, of course, the most weird, crazy, and eccentric people the silver screen has to offer, all of whom suddenly want a piece of their new human star. Amateur actors, visionary directors, ruthless producers, mysterious gurus, and the affections of some slightly unhinged fans.

In this industry, we have it all.

Major Manly Vol. 1 is a quasi-harem, romantic comedy—yes, romantic comedy—about falling into the grueling temptations of the entertainment industry, written as five individual films. Viewer discretion is advised.

If you liked Abandoned, come check it out!

Discussion Favorite romantic subplot in traditionally published/not strictly RFM fantasy and sci-fi books?

Upvotes

Hello!

As the title says, what are your favorite romantic subplots in fantasy and sci-fi books that are either traditionally published or are indies but not RFM? Which ones would you say can still fit the sub even if they are not written as RFM?

Request Sporty girl and nerdy boy?

Upvotes

I read a story on Ao3 a few months back, High School Romance, and greatly enjoyed the sweetness of a slice-of-life romance between a Basketballer and a Geek.

Now I'm looking for literally anything else similiar to that. Slice-of-life, full of drama, whatever. If it's between a sporty or buff or gym-goer woman, and a nerdy or geeky guy, that's all that matters

It can be on any site either. Novel on kindle, Ao3, scribblehub, doesn't bother me where it is.

Thank you

Request Suggestions for male authors of romance books (M/F couple)

Upvotes

Hello everyone,

I’m currently looking for romance/spicy books written by male authors, I’ve never read one and I’d be interested to see the difference in writing, not like Nicholas Sparks though. Some female authors I’ve read in the past just to give an idea of the type of books I’ve read before are: Rachel Gibson, Christina Lauren, Susan Elizabeth Philips, Tessa Dare, Julie James, Shayla Black, Meagan March to name a few.

Thank you in advance 🙏

Edit: thanks for providing more info and the few suggestions. I supposed I should clarify; yes, the authors I listed are contemporary romance but I have read some supernatural, romantasy, shifter romances too! I haven’t read any alien ones yet but I have read some with werewolves, vampires or some type of beast/dragon shifter but I couldn’t tell you the authors as they’ve been more from the Galatea app or web novels.

Thanks for the current suggestions, I will look into those and please continue recommending any good ones you can think of - thank you again!😄

Promotion: Harem Glitched Awakening: The Awakening — Body-Swap Fantasy, Male MC, Explicit Romance, Slow-Building Harem [Reposted after getting moderator permisson]

Post image
Upvotes

Hey everyone. I recently published The Awakening, the first book in my new series, Glitched Awakening, and I thought it might be of interest here.

Someone who recently read the entire book recommended that I try sharing it with a few other communities, and this was one of the communities he suggested to me. So I thought I’d give it a try.

Synopsis

Nathan Gold thought Awakening late would be the best thing to happen to him that week.

Then he tried to use his new spatial ability.

Instead of taking a knife out of a mugger's hand, Nathan finds himself staring through the eyes of Evelyn Vale—eighteen-year-old heiress to one of Arc City's most powerful families—while Evelyn is left standing in his body.

Getting themselves back to normal should be the obvious priority.

Unfortunately, Evelyn has problems of her own. Someone powerful enough to bypass her security wants her dead, her family is tearing itself apart from within, and Nathan's supposedly spatial Awakening appears to have developed a glitch that neither of them understands.

Until they can control it, Nathan will have to learn what it means to live in someone else's body, wear someone else's identity, and occasionally discover that returning to normal is considerably more complicated than simply wanting his old life back.

Glitched Awakening is a body-swapping urban fantasy with a strong romantic element, focused on the practical, personal, embarrassing, intimate, and occasionally absurd consequences of actually having to live as someone else—not simply switching bodies for a scene and forgetting about it afterward.

--------------------------------------------------------------

One of the main reasons I wrote the series is that I've always liked body-swap and gender-bender stories, but I often had trouble finding exactly the kind I wanted to read.

Nathan is not questioning whether he is a man, and the story isn't about him discovering that he secretly prefers being someone else. He is perfectly comfortable being Nathan Gold. The problem is that his ability keeps putting him into situations where being Nathan Gold mentally doesn't change the fact that he is currently living in somebody else's body and may be expected to function as that person.

I wanted those consequences to actually matter.

That means the story spends time on things body-swap fiction sometimes skips over after the initial joke: different senses, clothes, hygiene, physical reactions, appearance, attraction, embarrassment, relationships, other people's expectations, social identity, work, powers, and the increasingly inconvenient question of what happens when Nathan has to spend more than a few minutes actually living somebody else's life.

The relationships are a major part of that.

Spending time literally living in another person's body creates a kind of intimacy that would be difficult to reach normally, and I wanted those experiences to affect how Nathan and the women he swaps with understand one another rather than having everything reset the moment they return to normal.

Sometimes that becomes serious. Sometimes it becomes intimate. Sometimes Nathan is simply having a very bad day, which I admit I find rather entertaining.

The wider setting is an urban fantasy world involving Awakenings, supernatural abilities, Gates, powerful families, conspiracies, and increasingly larger conflicts as the series continues. The first book deliberately spends quite a lot of time establishing the body-swap mechanics, characters, and relationships rather than treating the transformation as something that only matters for a scene or two.

As for the romantic structure: yes, this is intended to become a genuine harem series, but it develops gradually.

Nathan does not meet four women in the first ten chapters who immediately decide to become his girlfriends. Book One establishes its two principal heroines and their relationships with him. Book Two, which is currently in the final stages of preparation, expands the cast with two additional main heroines.

So there are already four intended major heroines in the series, but I want the relationships to have time to develop rather than making the harem exist simply because the genre label says it should.

That gradual approach is actually part of why the reader who recommended I try romance communities thought the series might work here. The harem is important, but the heroines aren't intended to feel like additions to a collection. Their individual relationships with Nathan, and the strange intimacy created by their swaps, are a substantial part of the story.

There is also some explicit sexual content. The series is written for adults, and when relationships become sexual, I don't fade everything to black. At the same time, the story is not structured as sex scene after sex scene; the fantasy plot, body-swapping, characters, and relationships continue to matter.

Book One is complete at a little over 120,000 words and is currently available on Amazon for $6.99.

I'm also serializing the story for free on Scribble Hub and Royal Road, so if you're unsure whether the body-swap premise is your thing, you can read some of it first rather than buying blind.

If anyone does give it a try, I'd be interested in hearing what you genuinely think of it. Positive or negative, I'd rather know whether this particular combination of body swapping, gender-bending, urban fantasy, romance, and a gradually developing harem works for readers than only hear praise.
