The saddest part about this video is that she still has to work at her age
•
u/PassionV0id Dec 17 '25
Meh Charlie Kirk wasn’t a fan of retirement.
Now, I will say that for future retirees, people under the age of 45, we should absolutely raise the retirement age. I'm going to say something very provocative. I'm not a fan of retirement. I don't think retirement is biblical. I think that if you retire, you should always be doing something not to say that you have to, you can't slow down, but you should be helping people, part-time work. You should be helping with the grandkids, volunteering. I do not like the over-emphasis on a retirement-based society. I don't. I think there is so much talent that is not being used.

Him and Ben Shapiro are peas in a pod with this take. Yeah, it's pretty easy to never want to retire when your job is effectively a pampered hate vacation, where you get to travel the world to the adulation of chuds and be paid millions of dollars.

If you wanted to be generous you could argue that he's saying that staying active and involved in the community in some way is good for society and good for the individual. This is probably better than just sitting at home and watching Fox News until you die.
If he's arguing that people should work menial jobs for minimum wage up until we die... That's a whole different take. I would ask him for clarification but... you know...

“I don’t think retirement is biblical”.
Of course it fucking isn’t. Because the average life expectancy was something like 35-40 years back then (granted, infant mortality rates were much higher). But most people who survived childhood either worked until they physically couldn’t or dropped dead from diseases or medical issues that are entirely treatable with modern medicine.
These are the times these stupid assholes yearn for, and do everything they can to hinder our progress and social advancement at every possible turn. Fucking morons.
That said, I guess Kirk would be happy he never lived to retirement age, because dying young is certainly very biblical.

He's also a guy that never did a day of manual labor, worked a factory, construction, was in the military etc. There are people that are worn out by 60 years old. Knee replacement, spinal disc fusions, ankle/feet pain. I'm so sick of unemployed podcasters in air conditioned offices telling people who actually work for a living to work until they are in a hospice.

•
u/PassionV0id Dec 17 '25
Helping with the grandkids and volunteering in your retirement is all well and good, power to anyone who wants that, but raising the retirement age would negate many peoples’ ability to do so lmao.
•
u/Brammmy Dec 17 '25
Retired. Raised my kids, they should raise theirs. People don’t realize that retirement is sometimes the first time that people have been able to take care themselves and YES they deserve it.
My retirement is landscaping my yard and doing all those “I’ll get to it jobs” around my home that 50 hours a week never let me get to.

I’ve met a little old lady in real life, who truly believed that Charlie Kirk was just a nice Christian family man who preached peace and love through Jesus. She didn’t believe this just because she conveniently chose to ignore the incredibly problematic parts of his personality, but because of the way the social media algorithm bubble works, she had literally only seen these sanitized bits of his speeches. And why would she have ever bothered to look up more? If you’re a little old lady and you see some guy saying some nice Christian stuff, you watch it and think, “that’s nice,“ and you move on.
Interacting with her was one of the things that made me realize how we all truly do live in different realities. Yeah, there’s a disturbingly significant amount of Trump supporters who are vile, hate-filled bigots, who see Trump is an excuse to let their vileness openly ooze out into the world, but also, there are people like this little old lady, who have been fed this carefully curated view of the world – and are naïve enough and un-curious enough to just accept it – who truly think Trump is a good man with Christian values who’s just trying to save this country.
Not that it’s an excuse, or that these people should just get a pass, but it’s something to keep in mind when your instinct is to treat all Trump supporters the same. When I talked to this little old lady, she didn’t come across as hateful or bigoted. And when I treated her as a person who might just be ignorant instead, showing her videos of the Charlie Kirk we all new, she was disturbed, and reevaluated her position.

And had a friend who was a fellow gay guy who worshipped the ground he walked on, when I was indifferent of his death and explained my position, he spun off. "I was defiling him and his family." Nevermind the fact that Kirk despised him in general for what he was, like the rest of the party does, he stopped talking to me for awhile. Then he came back full attack mode asking for sources. So, exhaustively, one by one I provided sources with audio and video of the man himself. He laughed at me, accused me of cherrypicking. I explained I was given the burden of proof, and provided it. He said several insults and claimed I was insulting his intelligence. I calmly said "I'm not insulting your intelligence, I'm insulting the lack of it. Just because you voted for him doesn't put you in his little club. You're a gay man, and as such, a token to him, and you will be spent."
That was two months ago, he blocked me. No great loss.

There was a 90+ year old woman who worked for Walmart and all these people tried to white knight for her, and she literally said she does it to get her out of the house after her husband died and she saw people just staying inside dying. She works stocking in the baby department and gets to see kids all day long and all she has to do is fold clothes and talk to customers.

When I delivered bread to this little mom and pop grocery store, the butcher for the store was an 88 year old man.
I asked him why he hadn't retired (cause he shuffles around and is in obvious pain being on his feet all day). He just said, nah tried that got bored.
He was forced into retirement when he got injured on the job a few years later and died maybe a year after that.

I mean.... the old woman handled that interaction extremely well...
•
u/SlurmsMacKenzie- Dec 17 '25
Yeah, much as I don't really want to side with her given her views. The old lady IS entitled to think what she thinks, whether I agree or not. And she handled that situation politely and professionally, while all that can be said about the women filming is that she seems like a bully and attention seeker. Maybe the old ladies views are disagreeable, sure she's probably not wearing a work appropriate shirt.
But if it was that big of an issue, just go find the store manager and politely complain that you've seen an employee wearing a politically motivated shirt, that you don't think is appropriate for the workplace. Then let them deal with it.
Don't whip a phone out, and then start going at an old lady who's clearly just trying to do her job like a rabid dog, it just makes you look like the bad guy.
All I see here is a woman that's spent too much time sniffing her own farts and doomscrolling social media, that got triggered by a T-shirt and saw an opportunity to be a hero, and only made herself look like an ignorant asshole.
→ More replies (77)•
u/TheGuyDoug Dec 17 '25
lol while I'm sure this was posted to mock the woman wearing the shirt, she is minding her business and managed the conversation calmly while this woman accosted her for not wearing a plain red shirt.

I don’t agree with the choice of shirt, but that’s more so the fault of target for not supplying uniforms for their staff. The bigger issue I have is the lady filming the employee, an elderly employee at that. Again, while I don’t support the shirt choice, harassing someone at their place of work for something like this seems pretty unacceptable.

Yea, I don't agree with MAGA or Charlie Kirk, but the way the camera person was handling it was unacceptable and I genuinely felt worse and worse for the old lady while watching this.
To be completely honest, I think that woman did an absolutely amazing job at handling and diffusing the situation that was sprung on her by a hostile patron. I don't support the old lady's views or allegiances but I do support the way she handled herself in this video.
All that needed to be done was to ask her about it, ask if she's aware of it being a highly controversial and polarizing shirt, and then go to customer service and report her to her manager.
In the moment she can't change her shirt. She can't go home and get a new one. She can't do anything about the situation but the manager can.
Appalling.

Walmart HR instructs its new hires how to sign up for government assistance like food stamps. Amazon has drivers peeing in bottles in their delivery vans. There’s no such thing as a good corporation once they get too big to fail, so sometimes people have to choose the lesser evil.
If Target shuts down, Walmart and Amazon will have more power and their track record is horrendous. I support Costco and local when I can, but if I have to choose between Walmart and Target, I’ll choose Target every time.

Its hilarious how the person recording got doxxed. They know her name and place of work. She's a nurse at a hospital. Now people are harassing the hospital and clogging up their phone lines. To the point the hospital had to release a statement about it. Saying they are doing their own internal investigation (which basically means yeah her ass is getting fired for this). But to please stop calling their main line and instead call a alternative number. Because its "negatively impacting" patients and clinical staff reach.
Meanwhile someone made a gofundme for the target employee that's already raised like 50k+ in less than a day. The duality. The target employee was funny cause she was basically the chill guy meme.
By the lady recording being an asshole she basically diverted her life and rewarded the target lady.
