My point is that everyone thinks the government is corrupt because it’s obviously true, so it makes no sense for people to call you a Nazi for agreeing with something blatantly obvious that everyone else mostly also believes so there is most likely more to your story. Not really psychology so much as logic.
The number has gone up because people obsessed with breaking government and committing crimes have taken over. So what little bit of good function and trust was left in some institutions is now gone.

Maybe. It largely depends on how the question was worded, and how it's interpreted by an individual. If the question was, "do you beleive government corruption is widespread?" It is reasonable to assume many responses are directly linked to the controlling part of the federal government.
It's pretty simple really: This comes on the heels of republicans going full reta..., I mean maga, and injecting insane corruption into every part of America that they could, and they have complete control of the country, so they can reach everywhere....everywhere.

As the government is made up of many people, there are Democrats who are corrupt, and Democrats who fight the corruption. There are no Republicans currently fighting the corruption in this administration except maybe Thomas Massie, who really only started when he lost his reelection for speaking out against Trump

There's clearly one lesser of two evils imo. There's a big difference in voting in a corrupt president, and voting in a president who's in a party with a couple corrupt people.
