We should have listened to Anita Hill

u/LuluLittle2020 4d ago

"We" did. "They" did not.

I thought this sax player was so hot when I was a teen. Love this movie so much. ā¤ļøšŸ§›

u/Flyingmonkey53 4d ago

Fire, sweaty six pack, saxophone, hips gyrating. Still hot by all measures.

u/antithero 4d ago

I have seenthat silly gif looped so many times, but I still don't know what movie it's from.

u/FantasticFoxyy 4d ago

The Lost Boys.

u/IIIIIatreidesIIIII 4d ago

Give me strength Tim.

u/Intelligent_Fig5418 4d ago

TIMMY! He's funny and an excellent sax player!

u/Nyuk_Fozzies 4d ago

They listened. They just didn't care.

u/laernuindia 4d ago

They ā€œheardā€, not ā€œlistenedā€.

u/ArjunaIndrastra 4d ago

Birds of a feather and all that.

u/OddDig3966 4d ago

well joe biden didnt

u/mcvoid1 4d ago

I mean, I was like 9 at the time, so I wasn't listening to anything about the supreme court.

u/LuluLittle2020 4d ago

It was the Kavanaugh hearing of its day, with Anita Hill in the Dr. Christine Blasey Ford role.

u/EveryAccount7729 4d ago

Uh.

No they believed her also.

That's why they picked him. You think they "don't believe" Kavanaugh groped that girl in high school either huh?

u/Own-Scratch-4853 4d ago

Yep and you listened to Fauci

u/NoviceRedder 4d ago

I can remember so so vividly after my Father had a few Bourbon & Coke he would start screaming at the TV calling Thomas every name in the book & then yelling ā€œI believe her! I believe her! But no one else is going to believe a black woman not when white men want this man on the court.ā€ā€™
But the other statement I remember my Daddy saying was, ā€œhe is nothing but a crook, you can just tell by looking at him, why he is as crooked as a dog’s hind leg.ā€

My dad in 1991 was a 68 yr old white man from Alabama. Before the internet & Fox News.

u/EconomySeason2416 4d ago

u/kat-deville 4d ago

OMFGLOL! I can actually hear his voice (not Thomas's)

u/johnieg 4d ago

"The White Man has been so GOOD to me. He allows me to wear this here black robe a pad laws to help keep them black nigglets from ruining this great white country"

u/Infamous_Ad8300 4d ago

Im not up to speed. What did Thomas do to be like Uncle Ruckus?

u/Reformed_Hillbilly 4d ago

starts generally pointing at everything

u/Infamous_Ad8300 4d ago

Well that doesnt really tell me anything at all. Nevemind.

u/Reformed_Hillbilly 4d ago

You can start with affirmative action, then proceed to consider how his stance onĀ Obergefell might impact Loving v Virginia.

u/Future_Reference_401 4d ago

5y account with negative karma…just don’t waste your time.

u/3-Ballin 4d ago

"Do your own research"

u/Infamous_Ad8300 4d ago

Why not engage and debate? Is it only fun if everybody agrees with you?

u/PenaltySquare2414 4d ago

No point engaging with a bot

→ More replies (0)

u/Infamous_Ad8300 4d ago

Is affirmative action necessary. I know this is anecdotal, but I live in a red state and I have a great job for 15 yrs now and 75% of the bosses Ive had here are college educated black individuals. While 99% of my fellow workers are white. As far as Obergfell, do you think its best to concentrate power with the federal government?

u/Silly_Marketing_5079 4d ago

What job?

u/Infamous_Ad8300 4d ago

Industrial maintenance at a factory. Since that matters.

u/Dapper_Jicama4848 4d ago

It sure worked for Clarence.. he was someone who took advantage of it for himselfšŸ˜’

u/Infamous_Ad8300 4d ago

That is very interesting. Apparently he gained admission to Yale law school through an early race-conscious admissions program. How ironic? Dontcha think? Thanks to that he was set on the path to be a supreme court Judge. But Im sure hes a top legal mind right? Right?

u/Ok_Dust_7325 4d ago

He is trying to turn back the clock to 1930.

u/Infamous_Ad8300 4d ago

What happened in 1930?

u/Infamous_Ad8300 4d ago

The great depression?

u/Imursexualfantasy 4d ago

Anita Hill went into detail about his sexual harassment of her during their time working together, he is also completely unqualified for the position and not a rigorous legal mind at all. Not to mention the fact that he has been bribed by the billionaire Harland Crowe (spelling?) to stay on the court because he thinks his contributions are worth far more than his meager government salary. The sad part is that he’s right. His particular brand of corporate friendly deregulatory ā€œconservatismā€ has made a lot of pretty bad people billions if not trillions of dollars.

u/Infamous_Ad8300 4d ago

Havent heard about Harland Crowe, but Im never surprised when I here of people in power being accused of accepting bribes. Anita Hill, I honestly dont know. I am interested in how he is unqualified and or not a rigorous legal mind.

u/WarpHype 4d ago

Fox News ruined our society, and continues to run it into the ground.

u/xteve 4d ago

Fox and church. Let's not forget church.

u/NoviceRedder 4d ago

Awwww yes!!! The church….my Dad was an atheist so now that I am older & I look back at his beliefs, I realize that this is why he was so loving, caring, open minded & had so much empathy for other people & races, he wasn’t filled with all the hate of the love of our Lord & Savior Jesus Christ.

u/DeadKing777 4d ago

This has to be satire lmao

u/Neat-Dig5964 4d ago

Thanks, Rupert.

u/Regular_Yellow710 4d ago

Yet God took Dolly and Tim and Gloria. Take Rupert and others instead.

u/AJRimmer1971 4d ago

No returns. Australia doesn't want the grub back.

u/Mysterious-Bug5652 4d ago

Yeah, an immigrant from all the way down under( Australia), has been laughing his ass off, for over 30 years at all these maggot’s.

u/discordianofslack 4d ago

Your dad sounds awesome

u/NoviceRedder 4d ago

He was! Such a great mind, worked on the first computers in the military & government, they told him they didn’t know if there be a future in it for him. šŸ˜‚šŸ˜‚šŸ˜‚šŸ˜‚šŸ˜‚ He was a mathematical genius & one of the first computer science professors.

u/Indoballz 4d ago

Crooked as a dogs hind leg im have to steal that

u/sarsippius132 4d ago

Used in my area. Also phrased as "Crookederna dog's hind leg

u/74pezdspencer 4d ago

Happy Cake Day.

My dad is in a memory care due to dementia but that man can still rail against Republicans with an incredible vocabulary.

We agreed if his mind got so addled that be turned Republican I should smother him with a pillow.

u/OdiousAltRightBalrog 4d ago

Make sure it's a Tempurpedic pillow so your arms don't get tired.

u/Disastrous-Bee-2763 4d ago

As long as it's not a mypillow, we're all good

u/PotentialAvocado8850 4d ago

I had the same understanding with my mom before she was in memory care. The usually kind, well-mannered lady swore like a sailor anytime a "bad guy" was on TV, referring to corrupt politicians. My heart goes out to you and your family.Ā

u/noxinboxes 4d ago

Thanks and same to you!

I have a much younger sister who brings her 1 and 3 year old to visit and they are treated like celebrities by the patients!

u/No-Wing-2132 4d ago

Oh, hell, that made my day right there! Thank you!

u/Infamous_Ad8300 4d ago

Thats so funny!!

u/anand_rishabh 4d ago

It's criminal that this fucking guy was who replaced thurgood Marshall.

u/Intelligent_Quiet424 4d ago

I was in college during the Anita Hill hearings. I told my poly sci prof that they could do so much better than Thomas.

u/xteve 4d ago

What was your first clue - the fact that he sexually harassed her?

u/scarletlettre 4d ago

your dad is my hero

-signed,

a muslim, black woman <3

u/NoviceRedder 4d ago

Awwww thank you, he was mine too!

u/piper_squeak 4d ago

I am loving the visual I'm getting from your description! šŸ˜‚

u/Butterfly_and_Bee 4d ago

God rest his beautiful soul.Ā

u/PatchesOfSilver 4d ago

My dad could recognize if you got him alone and walked him through facts as cited by numerous independent sources that Republicans and the people they liked were terrible.

But when my mom got a list of all the candidates and circled ones with her far-right reasoning that was full-MAGA before Donald Trump ever said "MAGA", guess how he voted anyway?

It was super depressing, dad was coaxed into genuine fascism, but it's his fault for being lazy; I'm not giving him a full free pass.

It's more just "peer pressure to fit in with your spouse is enough to make someone a nutcase", he wasn't really a "watch the news and get brainwashed by Fox" guy.

u/Evening_Reach_8293 4d ago

How is he now?

u/NoviceRedder 4d ago

He passed away in 1993 from pancreatic cancer.

u/LogicalMuffin5558 4d ago

Your father can tell if a black man is guilty just by ā€œ looking at him?ā€ Yes that sounds about right. The Racist Apple doesn’t fall far from the Shit Tree.

u/NoviceRedder 4d ago

Ohhhh my goodness, reading comprehension isn’t your strong suit is it? My Father used this same exact expression for white people too, it’s not about their skin color, it’s about their body language, their demeanor, reading their facial expressions as they testify & coming to the conclusion that of the 2 BLACK PEOPLE TESTIFYING, my father came to the conclusion that the MAN is the one who was lying about sexual assault & the WOMAN, the BLACK WOMAN was the one who was telling the truth & was the one who was honest & trustworthy, Clarence Thomas was the opposite of that. Because you could just tell by watching him during those hearings that he was deceitful, dishonest & a crook, & yes we could tell that by observing him & looking at him!

u/Churchbushonk 4d ago

Recalled, censured, impeached, and prosecuted.

u/Jack4258 4d ago

Then executed for treason!

u/mojoholdsforever 4d ago

I heard her loud and clear.

u/SpankyJobouti 4d ago

I was on the other side of that back then and I offer my humble apoogies.

u/anaheim_mac 4d ago

Yeah he should never have been appointed in the first place. Til this day I remember as a kid watching the hearing and then talking about that pubes on the can of coke

u/GirasFateburn 4d ago

Everyone who's defended the man is a POS.

u/MyDogDare 4d ago

I was barely entering college when tv stations were airing the filthy reports about C.T. putting his personal pubic hair in Anita HILL’s Coffey, and other sickening acts. He should have been arrested, fired etc….. in the beginning. Over past years there have been reports of his receiving gifts (presents/bribes …etc…). ANITA DID NOT RECEIVE JUSTICE - and our country tolerated and enriched him over all these years.

u/moonworship- 4d ago edited 4d ago

When I see him all I see is a broken individual. All he ever wanted was to belong amongst the people that saw him as less and because of that want he gave up his dignity and everything else with it.

Only people of colour can see it and feel it.

u/mattisiefker 4d ago

He has no backbone, not sure how he can sit straight up. It's exhausting.

u/Winsome_Wolf 4d ago

I don’t like to make assumptions about how anyone with more melanin than me feels or thinks, or how their personal struggles shaped them. But I will say this, it literally doesn’t matter if he had the saddest life known to man. Anyone who gets into the halls of power and thinks it’s okay to use their history as an excuse to grift, cause pain, and hold down those of lesser means does not deserve the power they’ve been given. Abuse is not an excuse for becoming an abuser. Ever. Full stop. To be clear I’m all for self-defense and restitution, and sometimes that process ain’t pretty. But there’s still a bright line between that and the kind of behavior C.T. has engaged in.

And what’s worse is that I detect zero remorse or shame from him. In fact he seems to quite enjoy it.

u/ohiosprincealbert 4d ago

I believed her.

u/TooYoung825 4d ago

I did listen

u/Pleasant-Condition85 4d ago

And Rosa parks, Thurgood Marshall, and the several woman that complained about his nasty self

u/Gazmn 4d ago

Sadly & ironically,

It was then Sen. Joe Biden who led the proceedings that got him on the bench. I was wrong about him too. Sorry Anita… my badšŸ™šŸ¾

u/Jack4258 4d ago

But nooooo

u/MediatingInstigator 4d ago

From Wikipedia:

According to Hill, Thomas asked her out socially many times during her two years of employment as his assistant, and after she declined his requests, he used work situations to discuss sexual subjects and push advances. "He spoke about... such matters as women having sex with animals and films showing group sex or rape scenes," she said, adding that on several occasions Thomas graphically described "his own sexual prowess" and the details of his anatomy.

Ah yes.. when she’s not interested, pivot to talking about beastiality, rape and your dick. Completely normal.

u/Appropriate_Dot_7031 4d ago

Thanks, Joe Biden.

u/Rocco_Skene 4d ago

Thanks Obama.
