You mean like an "election"? All Republicans voted against the immediate end of gerrymandering. They are feeding us to ourselves.

in that case, you'll probably be shocked to learn that neither modern party had been founded yet in 1812. gerry was was not a "DEMOCRAT" but actually a member of an older party called the democratic-republican party

I think Washington hated the idea of a 2 party system. Without looking it up because I'm that lazy (US Citizen here) the guy who didn't win the presidency became Vice President for the first couple of elections. If I'm wrong, it's because I'm a lazy fellow.
