It's because they want to talk to actual people and potentially kick off a discussion, instead of flatly asking A.I to do it for them.
Why are you on Reddit if you don't care about human interaction? You can just have your memes curated by meme pages on Instagram or A.I. There is no reason to be here other than the interaction with other people, even if it's just to read comments.
Also, no one is asking you personally to have to respond to these posts, you can just easily ignore the ones you think are pointless. I don't know what compels you people to feel the need to moderate and control what happens in this subreddit like these posts are nagging you (which is just a mental illness and not anything put upon by society or this webpage).
I get your frustration and I'm not even going to try and justify it to you.
If you find these kinds of questions pointless and clogging up the subreddit, don't come into the comments and add to the engagement by being snarky. Just ignore it and let it die, so then maybe all these people with low effort questions will stop seeing this subreddit as a place to farm karma and engagement and just move on somewhere else.
Ignore it and move on is going to be the answer for stuff like this on social media.
I'm not disagreeing with you, but sometimes low effort is all people have left to reach out with. They don't know what else to talk about or how to initiate conversations with people online.
It's also possible they've had trouble knowing how to google search things properly. I was all on board with search engines from their start, so I went out of my way to just sit and learn what words would get results I wanted from them in the late 90's and have only gotten better at it since. I thought this was something everyone who uses the internet knew how to do, but it's not and a lot of people struggle even knowing how to put what they are seeing and thinking into words. Especially words that a computer might recognize.
There's also the component of English being a second or third language for them and they might need help understanding even the basics of the text of the image, let alone what global warming is and all the context of the image.
I personally don't mind helping people who are completely lost on even the basics, because they often need the most help. Sometimes it's a waste of my time, but other times it's rewarding to know I could stop and give my full attention to them. So again, those people that get bothered by this should just move on and find a question that interests them, because this is clearly not for them.
They are acting like the question is being asked to them personally and it offends them that they had to waste time reading it, when they don't need to read shit at all. None of this is being asked of them, it's all just for fun. Answering people's questions who are lost is sometimes fun for me, so just let weirdo's like me answer the fucking questions.
Google "search engine". I mean, Google is a search engine too, but just Google "search engine." The search engine part, I mean, not that Google is a search engine... Which it is. Google is a search engine, but you can Google Google on Google.
