Wow I was just watching a YouTube video on the failed Percy Jackson movies and heard her name for probably the first time yesterday then I see this comment

u/MachKeinDramaLlama 2h ago

Congrats on being yesterday's lucky 10k on her and today's lucky 10k on the Baader–Meinhof Effect!

I LITERALLY just learned about that XKCD “Lucky 10,000” not more than five minutes ago here on Reddit. I shit you not. Right here:  https://reddit.com/r/CuratedTumblr/comments/1w9v0uo/a_plot_twist_nobody_expected/p8dnccn/

It's a dog

That doesn't sound right but I don't know enough about animals to dispute it.

We scare people.

u/JP147 4h ago

And what does this one mean, Peter?

u/Thomas_K_Brannigan 1h ago

I think it's just saying that blue eyes look strange on dogs, since it's a rare (or at least uncommon) genetic trail (which is also, sadly, associated with a higher chance of the dog developing vision/hearing loss!)

u/anrwlias 4h ago

This just leaves me more confused.

u/niceguy191 3h ago

Ok, but what does that sentence mean??? Did they misspell "by"? But then it still doesn't make sense. I can't parse this at all.

I don't know why but I'm having trouble getting through it. It just seems so slow. I may need to get the dead tree version.

u/KGLWdad 7h ago

The audiobooks are so well done and performed that it becomes a breeze, so if that medium works well for you I’d say give it a shot :)

u/Bigfops 7h ago

Oh, that's a problem because the audiobook is is the one that's not holding my attention. I do notice that it's very well done and appreciate it, but it's still not hooking me. I think I need to give it another try.

u/NiceBlackberry6618 7h ago

have you checked out the graphic audio version? AND if you are having trouble with just the first hour or two just listen and don't think too hard. it jumps around a lot on things that would be hard for you to wrap your head around before landing on 3 stories that are told pretty damn effectively and very easy to follow unlike the first hour

What is this from? I’ve been seeing it a lot lately

u/Hi-Road 6h ago

Elizabeth Holmes? She was like some Ceo caught in a scam or something. And she’s weird. The guy makes documentaries and comedy shit, his name is Nathan

u/meowingtrashcan 5h ago

grifter who really mastered everything about how to swindle our charisma-driven tech industry, giving false hope to many dying people and diverting money from actual medical research to do it

then went and had a baby when it was clear that she was getting sentenced to prison

u/JonatasA 2h ago

She also put people's lives at risk, falsified tests.

u/LeonidasVader 6h ago

How do you a) not know about Theranos and b) know her name but not take five seconds to Google?

I feel objectively she isn't beautiful but I'm oddly attracted to her and personally find her very attractive...idk but I'm watching that movie!

u/hipster_dog 2h ago

Yeah I'm not that attracted to her but she has that vibe of a random girl who is a bit older and you met at a friend's party you didn't really want to go but she started talking to you and you really hit it off and you are kind of drunk and she's talking really near to your face and her hair smells kinda of good and omg we're going to kiss aren't we?

Her blue eyes/brown hair combo is very rare. It's unsettling because of the uniqueness of it. It's also made more unsettling because how wide the actress keeps here eyes. She got "crazy eyes".

u/murderfacejr 8h ago edited 7h ago

That is literally Elizabeth holmes. I also thought it was an actress when I first saw it (documentary is about her - you can see everything)

u/Thundersalmon45 8h ago

Yup.

2-3 times as common as blue eyes and blonde hair.

Where is this picture from?

u/puhzam 8h ago

It's from a new documentary on the founder of Theranos, Elizabeth Holmes. If you know her story, she's crazy.

u/barrosoOso 8h ago

I went into that trailer not knowing it was a documentary. Being A24 I assumed it was some sort of psychological horror film and was absolutely unsettled by the commitment and authenticity the two actors were portraying. When it said documentary, I felt a pit in my stomach,.

u/I_Makes_tuff 7h ago

It is psychological horror, it just also happens to be non-fiction.

u/New-Analyst1811 7h ago

Nathan probably is acting...to some extent. He'll have some sort of agenda to interviewing her lol it's always a guessing game with that dude. He got good grades.

really good grades

u/hannieboo1 1h ago

From one of Canada’s top business schools

u/2ChicksAtTheSameTime 4h ago

just because something tells you its a documentary, you can't assume that to be true. Variety's review of this said "You Can See Everything is just about the furthest thing from a pure documentary you’ve ever seen." Goes on to say it's more like reality TV in movie form.

u/TheDudeInJapan 3h ago

→ More replies (1)

u/severinusofnoricum 8h ago

This is a still from trailer to the Elizabeth Holmes documentary You Can See Everything by Nathan Fielder. The trailer is entirely a scene of them talking and she comes off as utterly deranged. That scene alone if more unsettling than most horror movies.

u/Hi-Road 6h ago

people were saying the scene was hot. i couldn’t believe it
