I’m applying to Penn State next weekend and I’m stuck on which major to choose - Biology or Biobehavioral Health. I have a 3.87 weighted gpa, I’ll have 4 AP classes and 6 accelerated classes when I graduate next year, and I’m not submitting test scores. I have a great list of activities with some leadership roles, recommendations from my biology and chemistry teachers and a pretty good personal statement even though they don’t really consider those. I’m in state and only want main campus, so are my stats good enough for both majors so it won’t matter? I’m leaning towards Biobehavioral Health since it’s seems to be more well-rounded, I‘m considering applying to med school. What do you think?

So I’m a 4th year student in a 5 year program. I did my first two at a branch campus and have lived in an apartment sorta far off campus since coming to UP. For my last year though I want to try and find a house close to downtown preferably on the west side of campus (since that’s where most my classes are.) I tried looking last year for this current year and just didn’t get many results. I was just wondering if anyone knew of any helpful resources to find one since I’ve had no luck so far.

Getting anything above a bachelors degree requires a language class/semester. Does anyone have any experience or knowledge if taking a class on sophia learning or something like that. I know every individual transfer credit is not 100% but I wanted to know if anyone had any insights?

Penn State is my top choice of the 10 universities I’m applying to. I toured University Park this past October and fell in love with the campus, vibe, and program I want to pursue (Plant Sciences).

I understand that the middle 50% SAT score at University Park is between 1320–1460. I scored a 1380 (760 english, 620 math) on my most recent August 22 attempt, which is solidly in that range, but I’m worried that my math subscore will hurt my chances of being accepted to a science program. The rest of my academic profile (outlined below) is pretty strong, so I don’t want my score to “bring it down.” I don’t plan on retaking the SAT.

I attend a large high school in West Virginia (roughly 1500 students) and my class rank is 1/402. I have a 4.0 unweighted and 4.61 weighted GPA, will have 7 AP classes under my belt by the end of senior year (Env Sci, Lang, U.S. History, Bio, Chem, Stats, U.S. Gov), heavily involved in two clubs since freshman year (Ecology Club and Growing Beyond Earth), an academic competition team since since sophomore year, and Science National Honor Society since junior year.

Outside of school, I am independent horticulturist who has cultivated and trialed over 130 vegetable, perennial fruit, herb, and flower cultivars from seed to harvest across 5 growing seasons in my 150 square feet of intensively-grown raised beds and grow bags, harvesting 100+ pounds of produce each season. I also grow over 70 ornamental annuals in vivid, high-density container plantings each season from May to October (since 2022) and manage a collection of over 20 houseplants in a variety of indoor conditions. I utilize drip irrigation systems, strict fertilization schedules, and IoT technology to automate my plantings.

Overall, do you think my SAT score will benefit my application or be a detriment to my application?

So it’s my first time at a PSU game tmr, I have a tailgate I am supposed to go with a couple of my buds, however, it’s not like something I want to spend 5+ hours at.

To those with experience, is it normal to just walk around and find tailgates? Or what else do people do?

I’m a senior in Highschool, out of state, and I just got my final SAT score back. I got a 1260, I’m not a strong tester however my GPA is a 4.7 and I am in the top 10% of a huge Highschool. Penn state has always been my #1 college since my dad graduated.
I really need this acceptance, and with some advice from old friends in Penn State, most say to not submit my SAT score as well as applying undecided.
I intend to major in some kind of digital media marketing/communications major, however I’ve heard the competition is rough when applying, and that applying undecided will help me in the long run.
Any advice on application? Do I submit my score? Any advice is greatly appreciated!

For background, earlier today I noticed my phone wasn’t letting me make texts or calls on cell service but was telling me it had 3 bars. Eventually I was able to make calls, but after getting back to campus again my phone now cannot find a signal at all and is stuck in SOS mode. I’ve tried every hack Google gives and no luck. Now the problem is I am currently in a lecture that requires me to log into Canvas, but I am not getting the message or call for the authentication. Two other people in the class are also having issues and not receiving the texts. Is anyone else having a similar problem, or have any idea how to troubleshoot?

I am a junior currently searching for a veterinary assistant position to gain more hours during school. I have worked as a veterinary assistant for summers 2025 and 2026. I have a ton of animal experience from small to large animal, exotics even.

The problem is, there seems to be no clinics who have job postings anywhere. The only one was Petco and they said I don't meet their criteria. What are your tips for seeking jobs? Calling/emailing clinics to see if there's a VA position open? I'll even take just animal care jobs. I need more hours and live in State College year round. TIA!

We’re in the process of finding housing for next year.
Sharing rooms is not the end of the world…. HOWEVER…. Does anybody with experience/knowledge of the off campus housing options downtown know of anywhere that have like a separator so that you still have some sort of discreetness from the roomate you share the room with?
Like a wall or some other divider?

Also this is for 3-4 people

we heard from several people and online places that when you're taking a class, you can get exams, quiz questions, and/or simple practice handouts to give a very good idea of what the course level is and we think it is a great method for committing to a class and eventually to use for exam preparation and practicing (probably associated text book end chapter problems is another tool but it is sometimes hard to filter what's included). Is that done at a personal level (we got some that way), or is there a system or website (official or third party) for acquiring this practice material. I know that an instructor can be asked, but I'm talking before taking a class, when you're exploring, so you can't communicate with or know instructors. Any advice would be great.
