Extremely brave posting that on Reddit lmao

There was a whole post yesterday where someone was asking if they were an asshole for wanting to leave a wedding at 8pm with the best man, when the bride and groom weren't leaving until 10pm and the party was continuing.

Half the comments were people acting like spending one day supporting your best friend was akin to slavery.

alternatively, leaving at 8 is perfectly reasonable

Is it reasonable? Sure, maybe

But don’t expect the friend to be close to you and go above and beyond for you if you can’t spend a couple more hours helping them on their special day. I mean, I have friends I can call in the dead of night for a drink when I’m heartbroken from a bad breakup. Would it be reasonable for them to decline and go back to sleep? Of course. Would that strengthen our relationship, and would I absolutely go above and beyond for them later? Also true
