I don't have friends so I can't speak on that, but this annoyed the heck out of me at work.

People kept asking, "why don't we have more social events?"

Then when someone took time out of their day to try to arrange something, it was like "ehh, I'm gonna skip this one, I'm not all that into X"

Like, it's totally fine not to want to go to work social events, but you can't then be surprised that they stop happening. You vote for or against with your presence.

I mean yes. I whole heartedly agree. But also, 90% of the time my teacher coworkers and friends want to go to someplace with alcohol. I get it. They want to wind down, but I have been sober for over 24 years. I have offered alternative places, but some people want to go and have a drink and relax. I can’t be around that. I know once I start, I won’t stop. The best way for me to remain sober is to avoid those situations that allows for that.

That’s tough man. Idk the right answer to that. Do you have like, sober support groups? I’d maybe try spending more of my time with other sober cats atp

I do other stuff on meetup. It’s a mix bag of quality.
