Card counting is a legitimate blackjack strategy which uses basic statistics to give you mildly better odds of winning by knowing how much the next card might be. Casinos obviously don't like losing the edge so they have various methods to prevent it, such as double decks, shuffling midway through the deck, and so on

In case you don't know how to play blackjack: You get 2 cards, and the dealer gets 1 face up and 1 face down card. You need to get closer to 21 (as the sum of your cards) than the dealer without going over. The common dealer strat is to hit (pick another card) until the sum is 17 or more.
