Parties at NIU?

I started school again 23M to finish my bachelors and one thing I am finding hard at NIU is meeting new people/making friends. I am an extrovert I talk to hella people in my class and even when I am walking around campus but for some reason guys seem to have no interest. I have already been out on coffee dates with a different girl everyday since I started last week but no guys wanna hangout. I hit the gym everyday and guy seem to be working out by themselves. Am I too old for school or what? Is there no parties happening around here? I was at UIC and we always had parties going on every weekend it was a blast. NIU seems boring why?

We have parties but only on thursdays and sometimes the weekends depending on occasion. Thursday will always be the busiest night because the commuters stay on campus. I’ve personally never had too many issues getting into parties as a guy, I just had to pay for some. There were a few that just didn’t let me in at all but that’s to be expected. Also even having a single connection to a frat might be enough to get you in for free. I know a lot of guys in one particular frat through a mutual and I’m not really close to them at all but they still let me in when they see me at the door.

How do I do that? And Thursdays I am there until 4pm didn’t see much going on it was lowkey dead

I mean yeah it’s dead because you’re trying at 4pm. Parties typically don’t start until like 11pm and really pick up around midnight. So if you’re commuting you’re going to need somewhere to sleep on campus. Go to rush events. You don’t have to commit yourself to it or anything but you can still meet people there.

NIU is a commuter school known for a poor social atmosphere. Most people are immediately leaving after class to go home or to work. They often don't have the energy to socialize.

The frats do have parties but they an invite only kinda situation. You have to know someone who knows someone to get in. One girl took me once. It was five for girls and thirty for guys. Very over crowded and not that fun in my opinion but I only went to one.

Your best bet to meet people is to join a club as the people there are more respective to other people and will to make the effort. In class its going to be difficult but its not impossible.

befriend ppl in frats both ifc & mgc so u can get into parties for free and you’ll meet a lot of ppl that way. also go to the events on campus and/or get involved!! there’s so many free events on campus from student orgs being posted on social media as well. but most parties begin at 11pm on thursday nights on greek row, there’s a bunch of houses down there so u can just hop to each one and see whichever one u like the best!

Join some clubs, you'll have better luck. Maybe sign up to be a tour guide or orientation leader, they need extroverts like you, and you'll meet like-minded people.

Are there even any Latin parties at niu? I haven’t seen that many of my people here but I can say that every one I’ve met so far on campus has been very friendly

Things must have changed since I was there in the early 90s.

If your not getting invited to parties then you need to have one yourself. If you’re meeting people have them over and get some drinks going, it’s not hard.

Have the same issue. People here are so dull

Maybe you need to meet up with OP. It’s a lot of the same people complaining in social media who could meet together if they wanted.
