New Rule: No AI-Generated Content
Hi /r/Mazda,
Over the years, we’ve had many AI-Generated posts submitted to the subreddit and while the conversations can be engaging around what a car or concept COULD look like, the damage done to our environment is not worth it.
We’d like to encourage users to submit real-life images, real mockups, real concepts and have real interactions with each other around this type of content but cannot support low effort, AI-generated slop.
Going forward, users who post AI-generated images will have their posts removed and will receive a warning. Further AI slop will result in a temporary ban, up to a permanent ban.

I had a major win this weekend.
So on my2016 Mazda 6 I was plagued with the Spiderwebbed infotainment screen. I have had this car for about 4 years have always been super bothered by it. So I decided to get one of those replacements, but didn't know what the pin out was so figured I would go ahead and take it out before I ordered it. To my surprise when I got it out and started taking it apart I noticed it wasn't cracked at all. All of the stuff on the screen was just melted glue from the digitizer. I was so freaking hypeddddd. So I grabbed some alcohol and microfiber cloth and went to work. Took less that. 5 minutes to remove the melted glue. Needless to say I am sooooo happy. Looks brand new didn't cost a cent.

I love my CX-5, but Mazda’s decisions with the CX-70 and CX-90 phevs are breaking my heart.
I currently drive a Mazda CX-5, and I absolutely love it. It is reliable, gorgeous, and genuinely amazing to drive. Because I love this brand so much, I was incredibly excited to look at their larger premium options as my family grows. But after checking out the CX-70 and CX-90, I need to vent, because Mazda is shooting themselves in the foot with some of the most frustrating design choices I’ve ever seen.
If they just gave buyers what they actually wanted in terms of space, tech, and versatility, they would completely blow the competition out of the water and dominate the market. Instead, they are locking us out of the features we actually need.
First of all, what is going on with the seating configurations? If you want to buy the top-tier, premium trims of the CX-90 or CX-70, you are completely forced into second-row captain's chairs. They do not offer a bench seat on the highest trims. Why are they taking away that choice? To make matters worse, the CX-90 already lacks the interior cargo and passenger space of almost every major three-row competitor in its class. Instead of maximizing that tight space, they limit your utility.
Has anyone found a good workaround for this seating issue? For those who needed a bench but wanted the top-trim features, did you end up settling for a lower trim, or did you find an aftermarket center gap filler that actually works well for kids or car seats?
Then there’s the technology. Mazda used to be the gold standard for interior ergonomics because of their physical buttons and the beloved rotary dial controller. It was safe, intuitive, and premium. Now, they are abandoning that philosophy and moving toward a touch screen. Where is the brand going with this? Volkswagen tried this exact same thing—they stripped out physical controls, realized it was an absolute disaster that everyone hated, and now they are actively backtracking to bring buttons back. Mazda had a golden opportunity to lead the industry by keeping tactile controls, but instead, they are copying everyone else's worst mistakes.
Finally, where is the Mazda minivan? If Mazda built a modern minivan to compete with the Sienna and the Odyssey—done right, with proper space, their signature driving dynamics, and smart tech—it would instantly crush the market.
I want to stay with Mazda so badly because my CX-5 has been so good to me. They have all the ingredients to be unbeatable. They just need to stop overcomplicating the lineups, bring back the cabin ergonomics that made them famous, and give families the versatility they actually need.

2021 CX-5 Touring w/ Preferred SV package worth it in 2026?
Looking at a Mazda with the specs above. It has 60k miles and an okay service history (2 owners and second owner had minor damage according to CARFAX). It’s looking like a really nice car on paper and with the photos. The dealer and I are close to agreeing on a price. I would be upgrading from a 2014 Chevrolet Traverse LT with 176k miles and a variety of issues, which I know is a major change. I really am looking for a car that drives well for casual errands, short weekend road trips for camping and skiing, fun to drive, and better MPG.
I am curious who else has these specs, and how they like it? Does it still seem relevant for 5, almost 6 years later?

I'd like to ask about the anti-theft features of the Mazda CX-5, or whether they are easy targets for thieves (I'm in Ontario, Canada).
I'm currently considering buying a 2026 CX-5. The reason I haven't considered the RV4 or CRV is because of the risk of them being stolen.

Considering buying a 2019 Mazda CX-3 Touring w/ 129,336 miles. Anything to be concerned about?
My car got totaled and a local used dealer has one for $12,995. It is very clean inside and out. I've searched this forum and they seem to be good cars. I don't care about the rear leg room because no one ever rides with me besides my wife. Anything I should be concerned about or to watch out for? I'm really liking it and think it's a good size for me as I don't like really big cars. TIA.

Mazda 2 2019 Screen Upgrade
I've just upgraded my Mazda 2 with the Android Auto retrofit. The next thing I want to look at changing is the infotainment screen, I'd like a bigger screen.
Does anyone have any recommendations? I'm assuming just changing the screen won't remove any features like the reverse camera or the Mazda OS.

2019 Infotainment Not Starting
I have owned my Mazda 3 since 2019. She's been marvelous. She's got only 66k on her. However this weekend she started having issues with the infotainment unit.
She starts up. But there's no Logo, chime, nothing. I have tried doing a soft reset with the Power,Nav,Back button. Doesn't work. I have disconnected the battery for 20m to drain it and try a hard reset. Doesn't work. I have checked the fuses (to the best of my knowledge). None were bad.
The backup camera works. Everything else works. But I have no jingles, beeps, radio, Android Auto, no Bluetooth, phone.... NOTHING. I don't have a Navigation SD card either. I also checked the USB ports and they don't seem to even be active either.
Does anyone have any advice? I plan to call the dealer but wanted to see if anyone's been through this first?
I saw there was a warranty extension started last year for the infotainment units but I'm not sure if I fall under that umbrella?
I have been using a single headphone for drives to work so I don't go mad not having music but I'd love to fix my car. I just paid her off last year and I know she's got more life in her.
Thank you all for the help.

Any idea when the model changeover will happen for the 2027 CX-5?
We visited a few dealerships last week, trying to decide whether to buy another truck OR to buy our first ever SUV. The truck had a rough ride and the seats were uncomfortable. We test drove a CX-5 and are sold. Unfortunately, two issues are stopping us from purchasing at this moment ... #1 being the 2026 is a redesign and I have never bought the first year of a redesign, period. #2 is obvious ... the lack of the most basic physical controls for most interior features.
The 2026 was released in January ... will we have to wait until January, 2027 to see the first '27 CX-5s?
Thanks ...

UPDATE ON MAZDA BARN FINDS
I have been looking at another plot of land as a possibility. I still contacted the owner about the cars in the barn and he says he's found a file of his fathers which list contents in the barn.
Direct what he said
"ユーノス・コスモ93
ママット500
626スピード・プロト
まさに300"
This translates to:
"Eunos Cosmo 93
M Amat 500
626 Speed Proton
M Exactly 300"
This confirms there is a Eunos Cosmo which I'm stoked about. Not sure about the others. 626 speed proton? Possibly a modified 626, the rest are unclear. He is going down tommorow to the plot where he said he will send me a photo. Will keep you updated

Who decides what apps show content on the HUD?
This is about a 2026 cx-30. Uk trim is takumi which is the highest trim we get and engine (if it matters) is skyactive x.
I’m normally an iOS user and Google maps shows directions on my hud, but I prefer waze for user reports.
Waze does not show directions on the hud.
I had to use a pixel today for reasons, and waze showed directions on the hud.
So is it waze that has to implement this in iOS, or is it an infotainment version that dictates this?

iStop, DEFEATED ‼️💪🏼🙌🏼 So, I finally tried it, wedging a properly sized piece of a zip tie on the right hand side of the iStop button. This is a great day 🎉🎉👏🏼👏🏼🙌🏼🙌🏼😂🤣.
