I've got 2 terrace club tickets in section 213 I'm looking to give away for the Saturday game in the last series against the Angels. What sort of postseason moves can the M's make? If there is no lockout next year for the 2027 season how many moves can we make? We made little to no moves this year except maybe Taylor Ward and Serranthony Dominguez, last year we lost Eugenio Suarez (even though we got him the same year) arguably one of the best hitters on the team at the time for no reason apparent to me at least. We have amazing bullpen arms and starters mostly all being high in Cy Young voting but why can't the Mariners just make a trade for a solid RBI man, I love watching the guy but J.P Crawford is great but hitting wise could be given away with some rookes from the farm system for some great players

Seriously. The nostalgia baiting by ownership over 1995 is borderline insulting and they rightfully get called out for it.

And yet on this sub theres invariably “on this day in 1995 we…” or “in 1995 we were 6 games back at this point in the season and”

I've been following Nick Garcia for a while since he was I went to the same school. It's been a rough road for him, but he's having a great year in Tacoma this year.

With the loss tonight to the As there are now 20 game left in the season, what that looks like:

The record: 66-76 (after tonight), sitting further back of the last AL Wild Card spot.

Wild Card path:
Cleveland holds the third WC spot at 70-70 with 22 games left. If they play around .500 the rest of the way, they land near 81 wins. Seattle needs 82 to pass them, which means going 16-4 (.800) over their final 20 games. Tighter than the 16-5 pace they'd have needed before tonight.

Division path (the "what if Houston and Texas fade" scenario):

• Astros: 72-69, 21 left, capped around 82 wins if they play no better than .500
• Rangers: 70-71, 21 left, capped around 80 wins under the same condition
• Mariners: 66-76 (after tonight), 20 left

To hit 83 wins and clear Houston's cap, Seattle now needs 17-3 (.850) over their remaining 20 games. That's up from 17-4 before tonight's loss.

Bottom line: Whether it's the Wild Card or the division, the number is the same. Seattle needs roughly an 81% to 85% win rate over its final 20 games. That's the kind of run that basically never happens in real baseball, but this is what "still mathematically alive" looks like with three weeks to go.

The purpose of sports is entertainment. Everyone always has a great time when they go to the Mariners game. No one cares about stats or standings, its not the reason people show up. The Mariners have higher attendance than Boston and Atlanta.

If you are focused on playoffs/world series, and nothing else matters to you, then you're going to miserable. But if you enjoy the process, then congratulations - you've understood the purpose of baseball.

Lets focus on the positive aspects of the team, instead of the negative.
