I have a feeling the answer is probably 'no', but would it be legal to simply drop my NATO AUG receiver into a standard AUG stock and swap out my trigger pack for a standard one? I'm under the impression that only the NATO version is legal, but if the receiver is the serialized part, then why couldn't I?

Hey guys. I recently moved down to the Baltimore area from PA. In PA we have public shooting ranges on state game lands and that’s where I used to go, for around $30 a year. It looks like MD doesn’t have a similar thing like that here. Obviously going to a private indoor range almost every week will get too expensive. So a good, I guess not “public” range but a “club” range seems to be an outdoors one from the Associated Gun Clubs of Baltimore. But in order to enter their range, I have to be a member of one of their associated clubs. There looks to be about 30+ associated clubs, I was just wondering if anyone could help me pick out a good one to join, based on personal experiences or what you may know about them.

Of course, filtering out ones where it requires me to be employed at a specific place. Most of these places have like an annual due of like $20, so a few dollars difference isn’t a big deal.

Would you need to go through an FFL for either of these? A friend’s uncle in VA passed and he did not have an actual will, so relatives are divvying stuff up individually. Friend was set aside two pistols and a rifle. Both pistols are on the roster. Rifle is bolt-action so no issues there. We’re assuming the Inheritance option of the 77R would be most applicable, or would it actually be Voluntary Registration? I’ve never had to do these myself, other than voluntary registration, which did not require an FFL obviously, so not sure as to the processes exactly.

this is my first and only gun, I sold my shotgun, bought this for 850, acquired my HQL, so I am free to buy whatever gun I want now besides machine guns, of course. My intent is to go to the range, possibly hunt(i never have in my life) and self-defense. I picked the A.R. 15 because the cheap 556 and 223 ammo, how flat it shoots, accuracy, and its interchangeable parts. However I live in an apartment so the 5.56 will go through a lot and is lengthy. plus im not shooting that far anyways, so i thought since its mainly for self defense the suppressed .300BO would fit my intent better. if you guys were in my situation would you just buy a shorter barrel/suppressor to make this .300 BO. Or would you sell the gun i have now and buy a cheap ar-15 and arp .300 BO. I just wanted to go name and reliable brand for my first gun but the buyers remorse hit and i think the length/caliber just aren’t for me and my intent. I just think 2 is better then one if shit hits the fan i don’t need to switch barrels

This is a long read (76 pages), but has some good information for those that are interested in how the numbers shake out for things like "assault weapons" ownership, High capacity magazine, defensive firearms use, and concealed carry, just to name a few.

The Georgetown professor that did this back in 2021 got ridiculed by the anti-gun crowd, and called the original survey bogus. So he redid it for 2026, incorporating the anti-gun issues, and the numbers only got better....for us.

Apparently completed lowers do not ship to Maryland is this something that you can buy online and ship to PA?

Sorry for the delay I'm just getting settled back in at home. So I think it went well in some ways and in others less than desirable. The judge seemed very hostile to Mark but he held his own against the judge. Overall the judge is expected to make a decision by the end of next week on any Injunctive Relief so we will know in a week. Now that being said below is my thoughts and takeaways are below. Again this is just my opinion and we will have to wait and see what the judge comes back with.

1. The comments made by the States Attorney McCarthy about deferring prosecution until after the case was decided were a hot topic. The Judge questioned the county on if this was true and the county said they could not speak directly for the states attorney but that it was their understanding it was correct. Then the question became what is the definition of defer the judge wanted to know if that meant if someone was caught violating the law while the court case was ongoing did it mean that the person could still face prosecution later if the law was found to be constitutional. The Judge also wanted to know if the comments covered everyone or just the members of SSJC. Furthermore she questioned if the county attorney was doing the same thing. The response for the county was that they had advised the MOCO Sheriff's Dept. not to pursue criminal charges but that they could still enforce the civil penalties of $500 for the first offense and $750 for each their after. Mark did a good job going against this by stating that the MOCO Sheriff's office was not the only law enforcement agency that could enforce this and that the county attorney had no authority over those other law enforcement agencies and that the plaintiffs would not accept the county's word for it. So the Judge gave both sides until Tuesday at noon to submit additional documents and for the county this would be a declaration clarifying the comments from the states attorney and the county.

2. With the potential threat of criminal enforcement potentially off the table the question was argued if the civil penalties were enough to rise to irreparable harm. The county argued it was equivalent to a parking ticket. Mark and counsel from SSJC did a good job pushing back on this by coming up with case law that supports the argument that excessive civil penalties could constitute irreparable harm.

3. The Judge did not seem inclined to enter in the state law and preemption arguments made by MSI so I feel it is unlikely we will get any relief based on those arguments.

4. The second and first amendment arguments regarding churches were by far the strongest for both plaintiffs. The county actually really stepped in a pile of crap when dealing with the first amendment claims in regard to houses of worship. To the point where the best analogy I could give is the attorney for the county looked like a kid on stage in a spelling bee after being asked to spell supercalifragilisticexpialidocious. The judge also really pressed the county on how other cases they were relying on had been invalidated in other parts of the county regarding churches.

5. The 100 yard buffer zone was also heavily argued by both plaintiffs and the county. Both Mark and SSJC made very strong arguments in favor of injunctive relief regarding the buffer zone and the Judge seemed to cautiously agree with some of them.

6. The other sensitive places that were argued is where I think the Judge really was not having it. It seemed she was not leaning towards granting broad injunctive relief to cover all of the places that should be covered by the Wolford decision.

7. The Judge continually asked Mark and the SSJC council if there was any wiggle room in their proposed orders to narrow the scope of the requested injunctive relief.

So again above is a very brief synopsis of a 3+ hour hearing. I THINK that there will be some limited injunctive relief. The extent of which would depend on what if anything the county provides to clarify their position on criminal enforcement, civil enforcement, the comments from the states attorney, and if the judge decides civil enforcement is irreparable harm. My GUESS is that there will be an injunction regarding places of worship and potentially the 100 yard buffer zone. I think it is a long shot to see injunctive relief for the other places. There would be an appeal if that was the case. It is also a strong possibility that we may see a TRO for 28 days because SCOTUS has the kipke case scheduled for conference and the 28 days would get us past that conference date to see what happens with that case.

It was a very interesting experience and I encourage everyone that is interested in this type of stuff to go watch one of these hearings.

So, I've been going to Freestate for about 10 years. Did all my training there, purchased all my handguns there, and became a gold member as soon as it was offered. After the last 24 hours, I'm ready to investigate other options and perhaps cancel my membership.

Are there other ranges in the area with similar offerings? By similar offerings I mean with range, quality training, FFL, and firearm and silencer purchases.

So I was not able to attend the roster board meeting today since I took PTO tomorrow to attend our hearing for injunctive relief in the MOCO lawsuit. That being said I did have someone there that videoed the entire meeting and I will be posting it this weekend to YouTube and will share the link here.

Essentially from my understanding only 6 members of the board showed up and every gun with a pistol brace was denied in a 4-2 vote. Even though 4 people voted for them it is still a defacto denial due to the majority of the total board even the ones not present didn't vote yes.

What I was told is that it was quite interesting with the chairman continually reminding the two no votes that they were not there to determine if something was a pistol or not they were only to determine if it was safe. Even with those warnings they still voted no.

Additionally at the last meeting several braced pistols were tabled and they asked for clarification from the state police if they were pistols under state law and MSP confirmed in this meeting that they were. However one member of the board essentially said I don't believe them I don't think it's a pistol and continued to vote no.

I am exploring options to fight back and as a plan comes together it will be shared. As of right now I wanted to share the information and will get the video out this weekend so you all can see for yourselves what was said.

Since we have to have Hbar and our rifles are you able to change your handguards and if you do what kind of hand guards do you use?

1. Can I have it in my car while I drive “just cause” if I obey the unloaded/in case rules?

2. Is transporting only allowed if it’s to a specific location like ranges/gunsmiths?
