Hey everyone! So my parents are getting a LG B6 for their living room and i’ve heard about the shitty reputation lg has gotten with all the ai and “listening to everything you say” bs. So i was wondering what are the settings to turn off to minimise their exposure to all those useless and invasive features. Especially during the setup.

Also if there are any must turn on settings for a better viewing experience do let me know!

I know most of this info can easily be found on the internet but i’ve been super busy lately and wouldn’t mind links to articles or video that can help me.

I also just want to say i’m not a TV expert, just a regular guy that enjoys OLED tech and watching way too much TV. This is not going to be a technical analysis of the G6, I’ll leave that to the pros! 

Let’s begin!

So I’ve had the LG G6 for a couple of weeks now, and coming from an LG C4 I’ve been having a lot of fun putting it through its paces. My TVs get a lot of mixed usage between myself and my wife/kids streaming movies, watching 4k discs, sports, YouTube and lower quality streams from my wife’s home country. 

The first thing I noticed straight away was the brightness . This thing is insanely bright. It’s more brightness than I’ll ever need and is noticeably brighter than my LG C4. What surprised me most is that the extra brightness doesn’t come at the expense of colour. The colours stay incredibly rich and HDR highlights pop all thanks to the tandem stack panel. I thought my C4 looked fantastic, but the G6 makes it look a little well… dim, which is something I thought I’d never say.

Reflections 

My living room is pretty bright, with windows to the side of the TV and directly opposite it, so reflections are something I normally have to put up with.

The G6’s Reflection Free Premium screen is easily the best reflection handling I’ve seen on a glossy OLED. Looking at my C4, which basically doubles as a mirror when my room is bright, the difference is huge. You can see the difference in the photos above.

I know people will say get a matte screen if you have a bright room. But I’ve never been a huge fan of matte screens spreading glare across the panel or taking away some of that deep, punchy OLED contrast and colour. The G6 does a such great job preserving black levels, colour and contrast which has made watching during the day so much better. 

The one downside is that in very dark scenes, reflections aren’t completely eliminated and appear as a purplish glare. It’s noticeable, but personally, I’m more than happy to live with that trade-off to keep the glossy finish.

Dolby Vision

Dolby Vision content looks fantastic. The extra brightness really helps HDR content pop, and bright highlights have that “wow” effect. I read there were some Dolby Vision issues with the G6 at launch, including some weird contouring and banding in darker scenes, but thankfully LG has since addressed these with firmware updates and I haven’t come across any issues during my time with the G6. 

Nitpicks 

The Magic Remote pointer takes a bit of getting used to and feels like a throwback to the 2000’s Wii era with the waving and pointing. I do like the upgraded remote on the G6 though as it does feel more premium and streamlined. A backlit remote would’ve been nice touch.  

WebOS. It works completely fine but it isn't my favourite OS. I think I’m just so used to using Apple TV that it’s hard to change my ways. 

Overall

So far, I’m really impressed. The combination of brightness, colour and reflection handling makes the G6 such a good option for an OLED in a bright living room. It has also handled all the content I've thrown at it really well, both SDR and HDR. 

The fact that it manages to dramatically reduce reflections without going matte is probably the biggest positive for me. So much so that I'm going to be picking up a 77” G6 over the holidays. It has sold me.

Starship Troopers is one of those movies that you either love it, or you hate it. I watched it a ton as a teenager so, of course, I loved it. I still do. As I continue to peruse my growing but respectable 4K Blu-Ray library, I was so happy when I came across ST. It had been quite since the last time I watched it, but I knew every beat. I probably watched it way too much as a teenager but come on, how could I not? Watching this on the 65" LG OLED G6 was an absolute blast. Mostly ever experiencing it on smaller tv's and usually not the best quality, filling every inch of the TV brought back all the nostalgia. Using Filmmaker Mode ensured that the movie looked every bit as colorful and gloopy as Verhoven intended. This is a gloopy movie!

LG Sent me a Sound Suite system for testing. All the opinions in this review are mine.

As a preface, I would like to mention that I am an AV Enthusiast and have built a system over the years that I am quite proud. This review is not about this system, but how about it feels to use the LG Sound Suite Dolby Atmos sound bar. The speaker combination they sent me is a 1xH7, 4xM7 and 1xW7.

Also, the comparisons I make are against a much more expensive sound system the I assembled myself over the years, so keep that in mind when reading this review. So read until the end.

I started testing the soundbar a few days ago so this is a bit of a short ‘’honeymoon’’. I installed the speakers where I feel they would be optimal per my experience with multi-channel home theater speakers. So sound bar up front, with L/R speakers (M7) and 2 M7s as side surround. This is what makes the most sense to me as the soundbar alone didn’t feel like it had a wide enough soundstage.

(Please do not look at the cable management, this room is not intended for this setup, and the Sound Suite will be repurposed to another room for further testing)

Setup:
The setup was quite easy. I had a bit of trouble logging into the ThinQ app, because I have an adblocker. So if it happens to you, it’s likely the issue. The setup only required me to enter my Wi-Fi password once and I was able to log each speakers in about 2 minutes. I have seen a lot of people ask how well Dolby Atmos soundbars work with smart TVs, so I wanted to share my experience with the Sound Suite as a multi-channel audio setup. I plugged the soundbar through eARC, the LG G6 detected it and enabled the right settings. It forces me to use HDMI-CEC which I am not a fan of, but that’s just the nature of eARC. If you have 2025/2026 LG OLED, the setup should be very easy. Overall, the Sound Suite integrates well with LG Smart TVs, especially during the initial setup.

The soundbar has no UI you can see on the TV, it’s all done through the app but the app is well done. It’s much better than my denon app for my AVR ( seriously, Denon lives in 1998 I think).

The room calibration process is impressively fast, it is done in just a few seconds, compared to the nearly 30 minutes my AVR takes for its full calibration routine. LG's approach here is clearly built around simplicity: rather than the external mic and multiple measurement points a traditional AVR system uses, the H7 relies on its own built-in microphone for a quick, one-step process. That's a reasonable trade-off for the target audience LG is aiming for. Most people just want good sound without fiddling with equipment.

This convenience does come with a modest precision trade-off. My receiver's auto-calibration reported speaker distances within 1–2 inches of my manual measurements, while the Sound Suite's distance estimates showed somewhat larger deviations. This likely comes down to mic placement rather than the calibration algorithm itself, since the built-in mic sits inside the soundbar rather than at the listening position, it's measuring from a slightly offset spot. It's worth noting that LG addresses listening position separately through Sound Follow, which uses your phone to track where you're sitting and adjust the sound accordingly, so the two features are complementary rather than one being a fix for the other. Still, I think there's room for the room calibration step itself to close some of that measurement gap, perhaps by optionally using a phone or external mic. That said, for most people the few-seconds convenience will easily outweigh a small precision gap, especially compared to the fiddly, 30-minute calibration routines of traditional AVR setups.

Sound Quality: (VS a ‘’high end’’ home theater)
It’s a strong performer, It’s better than most soundbars I’ve listened to and I prefer the sound over the Samsung Q990D/F (I haven't compared it to newer models yet). One nuance I noticed is that the M7 and H7 don't feel perfectly timbre-matched to each other, during panning effects you can sometimes tell which speaker is handling the sound. This isn't something I notice on my traditional AVR system, though it may simply come down to the physics of small driver enclosures in a soundbar form factor coming from a full home theater setup, I did find myself wanting a wider soundstage than what the soundbar produces on its own, and the dynamic range feels a bit more compressed by comparison. The dynamic range also feels muffled compared to my traditional home theater. Dialog comes through very clearly, but as with most soundbars I've tried (the KEF Xio being a possible exception), voices can take on a slightly thin, less natural quality. This seems to be the trade-off for prioritizing dialog clarity, since ambient detail gets pulled back a touch to keep speech upfront. Many people will actually appreciate this, especially if dialog clarity is a priority, and if you don't have a direct point of comparison, it's unlikely to stand out at all. Turning on AI Sound Pro+ leans further into this trade-off, dialog gets louder, ambient sound recedes a bit more.

My wife and I also tried it for music, and it's a solid, serviceable listen, but it's not aiming for "HiFi enthusiast" territory, and I don't think that's really the use case LG designed it for. The soundstage is more movie/gaming-oriented than music-oriented: instruments and vocals sit a little closer together rather than being distinctly separated the way they would be on a dedicated music setup. For its intended purpose, movies and gaming, it does very well. Worth noting: there's a small amount of latency when gaming at high frame rates.

Spatial sound:
The soundbar does a decent job at pinning surround audio according to what the room calibration info it has. The Dolby Atmos height effects can be hit or miss.  If the tonality of the reflected sound is high enough, it does work decently well. For example, at the beginning of the movie 1917 there is a plane going above the soldier’s heads and this scene works surprisingly well. The only very nitpick I could have is that when the sound comes from the rear speaker at the beginning it has a lower tonality and once overhead it gets a bit brighter. 90% of people probably wouldn’t notice. This is not a design issue.

Where it got a bit less interesting is when the Atmos effect has a lower tonality. I guess the longer wavelengths just don’t reflect as well as shorter wavelengths.

Bass:
The subwoofer is serviceable for what it is, though it's not really my personal favorite. It leans a bit boomy and doesn't dig quite as low as I'd like for some movies. That said, it does have a built-in limiter to keep it from getting muddy at the low end, which I think is a smart design choice: it trades a bit of extension for keeping the bass controlled and clean. Worth keeping in mind that a good standalone subwoofer typically costs significantly more than what's bundled here, especially if you're looking for a wireless option. All things considered, it's a good soundbar subwoofer. Just don't go in expecting the output of a large ported sub.

In conclusion:
I may have seem harsh in this review but I still think this is one of the best soundbars I have listened to and will please 90% of people out there. This is just not an audiophile product but no soundbar is.

The Sound Suite shines by its simplicity, ease of setup, and good TV integration if you have an LG Smart TV, making it a convenient Dolby Atmos setup for LG TV owners. I will test on a different TV for a future review, with more speaker placement, (and maybe better cable management this time around lol).

If you’re looking for all-in-one system like that, this is an excellent option.

Hello! I have the 65QNED84BUA and I just noticed it has this weird bar at the bottom of the screen. So far I've noticed it on YouTube videos and in Mario kart on the Nintendo switch. Anyone have any ideas on how to get rid of it?

Since no one else could provide an answer, I finally discovered that the PS5 Pro and the LG OLED G6 have an audio decoding issue. Specifically, when the TV switches to Game Audio and Game Picture modes, it stops outputting sound if you select the "RPG" setting, because the TV and console have trouble handling Linear PCM and Bitstream. The only way to get audio working is to set the TV to Bitstream and the PS5 Pro to Dolby Atmos. I hope this helps anyone else experiencing this problem. Regards.

LG is the absolute worst; this is definitely the last year I buy from LG.

LG sent over the xboom Mini for me to test out, so I slapped it on my bike and have basically have been using it as a portable Bluetooth speaker for bike riding.

I wanted something basic so I wouldn't have to wear earbuds while riding. Having stuff plugged into your ears blocks out cars, which isn't safe on busy streets. I looked at other portable speaker options, but most seemed too big or annoying to attach securely. Leaving it on the bike permanently just works out for my daily routine. I don't need studio quality while sweating up a steep hill, just some background/ workout music to keep the legs moving.

Secure Strap for Bike Riding

The adjustable strap on the xboom Mini ended up being the best part honestly. I loop it right onto the bike frame and it just sits there, no wobbly mount, nothing rattling loose over bumps. I tried hard plastic clamp mounts before, and they are annoying. You hit one curb and the whole thing shakes or slides down. With this built-in adjustable strap, you pull it tight around the top tube and forget about it. It grips hard. I can go over rough patches or loose gravel and it doesn't move an inch. It saves me the headache of extra accessories just to hold the device securely while riding.

Sound Quality for a Compact Speaker

For a small portable Bluetooth speaker, the sound quality was just enough, and it stays clean at normal volumes. It's totally fine for regular listening when pedaling around. Push it past 70-75% though and things get a little muddy, bass especially. You can tell it's just a small speaker trying to do too much when maxed out.

The audio blurs if a track has a lot going on. But honestly, its just enough for a bicycle group ride of 3 people to hear the music whenever they are near u riding together. We group up at red lights or ride side by side, and everyone hears it fine. It won't blow anyone away, but it works well.

IP67 Durability for Outdoor Use

Build feels solid, IP67 rated so i dont think rain or road dust will be a problem in my usecase. The rubbery feel on the outside makes it seem like it can take a hit. I don't worry about babying it. Bikes get dirty riding near the edge of the road, and this speaker just takes the dust and dirt. If it rains halfway through a ride, I don't bother covering it up. It's nice not stressing over it breaking from standard outdoor.

Battery Life at Higher Volumes

Battery is really the only letdown. LG rates it at 10 hours, using volume level 15, Bluetooth on, Play Time Enhance mode, and no lighting. Real world I'd plan for 30% less, lasts me about 2-3 weekend rides at high volumes. Since you have to turn it up outdoors to hear it over wind and traffic, it drains faster. I just remember to plug it in every Sunday night so it's ready. It's annoying when it dies on the way home, but that's the tradeoff.

TL;DR: if the strap and portability matter to you like they do to me, the xboom Mini is a great little portable Bluetooth speaker for bike rides and everyday outdoor use. It's a great little speaker. I'd say it's what you can expect from its size.

I'm excited to get spooky season started, so I thought I would go with a classic. I had just recently watched William Friedkin's "Sorcerer" so I might be on a Friedkin kick, now. I realized how long it had actually been since watching the original theatrical cut as I've always watched the "Director's Cut". I think I'm with the minority of the theatrical being the better of the two. I still think the spider-walk scene rules, but not having it in the film makes me appreciate how much scarier every thing else Regan does actually is. As for the look of the movie: The 4K Blu-Ray is absolutely gorgeous. This is why films shot on ACTUAL film and make use of practical effects/sets whenever possible, will ALWAYS look better than CGI. The LG OLED G6 65" made fantastic use of the Perfect Black by adding weight to the atmosphere. Making it feel like anything could be creeping in the shadows!

Hey everyone, I just joined the LG family this week with a brand new G6. However, I’m having a bit of an issue and am trying to work through the best configuration for what I want (or sometime to tell me that what I want is impossible and I should move on). It’s a bit of a long one, so I apologize, but I’d like to be as detailed as possible in case one of you beautiful people is able to help me out.

Besides the new LG G6, I have a Denon X1800H receiver, a 3rd gen Apple TV 4K box, a Switch 2, a Series X, and a PS5 Pro. I also plan on buying a dedicated blu-ray player in the near future (probably Black Friday, and it’ll probably be a UB820). I also have a wired 7.1 surround system, hence the receiver.

When I first got the new TV, I swapped out my old one for it and made sure all the inputs worked properly (I had every device plugged into the receiver and one cable to the eArc on the TV). Then, I hopped on my Series X and adjusted both the SDR and HDR profiles separately. Next, I got on my Apple TV 4K and adjusted the Dolby Vision settings. When I switched it to HDR to adjust those settings separately, it was already the same settings as the Series X’s HDR settings (I could tell because Game Optimizer was activated). Same story when I switched the ATV box to SDR.

At that point, I thought maybe this was happening because the TV was treating all devices coming through from the receiver as one profile, with separations only between SDR, HDR, and DV. Obviously this won’t work because I don’t want Game Optimizer on when watching HDR content on the ATV, not to mention that the Series X has Freesync with no VRR and the PS5/Switch will have VRR with no Freesync. So I really need multiple separate viewing profiles/settings for each device.

My next thought was to plug the ATV and Series X directly into the TV (since they need unique settings), and the PS5/Switch into the receiver (since they can share settings). But then when I did, I could net get audio to go through the eArc back into the receiver and play sounds from my ATV, despite seemingly having all the settings across the three relevant devices correct. Then I got very frustrated and now I’m here.

So my questions are these: is what I’m trying to do possible? If so, what’s the best configuration? I’d love to have everything plugged directly into the AVR for simplicity’s sake, but not at the cost of having multiple setting profiles per device. Was I on the right track with plugging some directly to the TV and it’s just a matter of fixing whatever is causing audio to not return through eArc to the receiver?
