Itinerary Visiting Kobe for 4 days (10/9). Locals, please roast my itinerary!

Hi everyone!

I’m 24F and I’m visiting a friend who lives near 貿易センター駅 (Boeki Center Station) in Kobe, and I’ll be there from October 9 for four days.

I’ve done some research and put together a VERY rough itinerary, but I’m sure I’m missing things or making some questionable choices(Please roast me) . I’d really appreciate it if Kobe locals could help me fix it! I really hope someone could give me some guidance on how to get the best Kobe experience.

Things I love:

Kobe beef,

octopus,

oysters,

cafés,

bars, and

Western history/architecture.

Day 1: Sannomiya / Harbor Area

Arrive in Kobe and explore around Sannomiya.

Walk through the Former Foreign Settlement, then toward Meriken Park and Harborland.

For dinner, I’m currently looking at Restaurant Mouriya or Kobe Misono for Kobe beef. Both seem pretty famous, but I have no idea if they’re actually worth it or mainly places tourists go.

After dinner, probably drinks somewhere around Sannomiya.

Day 2: Kitano / Nunobiki

Coffee somewhere around Sannomiya in the morning, then walk up toward Kitano and explore the Ijinkan / old Western houses.

Is there any areas that have nice cafes& bars for me to spend the afternoon?

Then take the ropeway up to the Kobe Nunobiki Herb Gardens.

Spend the afternoon exploring Kitano and some cafés before heading back toward Sannomiya.

For the evening, I found a place called Kujira no Andy that looks interesting. Has anyone been? Worth going?

Day 3: Akashi / Seafood

Take the train to Akashi in the morning.

Visit the fish market, eat Akashiyaki, and try some local octopus. From what I understand, Akashi is particularly known for octopus, so I thought it might be worth dedicating half a day to it.

But to be fair I do really want to just eat octopus in Kobe… probably at an Omakase place? Idk

Maybe walk around Akashi Castle before heading back to Kobe.

Dinner back in Kobe. I’d LOVE to find somewhere good for oysters or seafood, but I haven't figured this part out yet.

Your first two days group well geographically. I’d do the Nunobiki Herb Gardens first by ropeway, then walk down toward Kitano and spend the afternoon around the cafés and Ijinkan. That avoids climbing uphill after lunch. Akashi works well as a half-day: Uonotana Market, akashiyaki and a short walk around the castle park, then return to Kobe. I’d keep Harborland for sunset or evening, when the waterfront atmosphere is best.

Mouriya and Misono are the names everyone books for Kobe beef and they're fine for one celebratory dinner if you reserve ahead. For octopus, Akashi half-day is the move. Market for akashiyaki, then back to Kobe for oysters at night so you're not chasing both in one place. Kitano plus Nunobiki in one day works if you start coffee early and treat the herb garden as the afternoon climb, not a late add-on.
