Itinerary First Time in Japan Itinerary Check
First time visiting Japan; the trip will be 10 nights. I was originally thinking of doing the golden triangle but I prefer a more relaxed tempo and was worried that trying to fit in Osaka and Kyoto would be difficult to keep low paced while also feeling like I got enough of seeing Tokyo. I also wake up late (making it harder to plan trips out where I need to leave super early). I have an ankle injury so some things are harder, I can walk distances at a low pace, but hills/steps are difficult. I stuck in a day trip to Atami so I can ride the Shinkansen. Any feedback is appreciated!

Animal cafes here are sad, unethical, and cruel and if you love animals I’d suggest avoiding them.

Make sure to reserve Shibuya Sky it solds out for evening pretty far in advance

Ride the Atami Ropeway up to the castle instead of the bus or walking, it drops you close to the entrance with barely any climb left, and last I checked the castle itself has an elevator up so you skip stairs there too. Kinomiya Shrine's fine as well, just a short uphill stretch near the station, not actual stairs.

Coming from the US, the time change was enough to make me more of a morning person. 14 hours for me. I was up each morning to the point I had to find things to do because places opened later. So if you are traveling from far off, this may happen to you as well.
Definitely make use of the Shinkansen. Hikari if Nozomi doesn’t stop at the needed station. And Kodama for the stations neither stop at. The price difference is very little if going unreserved. And unreserved is fine. If it’s a Hikari, people will get off at the next station and you’ll get a seat. But you do you. I’d get a good ankle brace.
If Shibuya Sky sells out, you already have the government building on the list. Also you have the NE corner of Tokyo with SkyTree. Personally, I liked Tokyo Tower. It’s more central/south Tokyo. But you may end up kind of feeling all these things are redundant since it’s mostly looking at the skyline from different angles.

For suggestion, sleep at atami one night and go to hakone tomorrow. Or sleep at hakone and go to atami tomorrow. It is up to you For your day off i can recommend place to visit near tokyo like kawagoe, yokohama, enoshima, kamakura. Or if you dont want to go far from shinjuku, there is like kichijoji, shimokitazawa, naka meguro, nakano or odaiba

You should go to Kyoto for 1-2 nights and return to Tokyo the evening of the 24th and go straight to the airport.
