Hot take, not everything is fat phobia, and second hot take, be nice to morbidly obese people but encourage changing if you actually care, I'm talking about those who can control their weight
Okay, my hot take comes from a place of concern, not hatred or disgust. YOU SHOULDN'T: shame them, that's not something you should do, YOU SHOULD; gently encourage them to change, I can't believe that this is a hot take, people will somehow take offense to this, gently encouraging someone to loose weight isn't fat phobia,

I mean it just depends. Friend/family I care about? Sure, I want the best for them. Random person on the street? Not my fucking business.

Hot take on top of that. Everyone does have control over their weight. Some people have more obstacles, but everyone does have control.

Yes and trust me when I tell you this, fat people stay fat because they are too lazy to improve, not because they don't care about how they look. A lot of them try and then give up because it's hard. All of these fat people who get offended and say that they are plus size or big boned would change their body in an instant if they could press a button that would do so.
I understand this because I've got fatter over the last 2 years and I'm trying to work out, eat healthier and burn fat. I still don't look obese but if continue with my habits I will definitely get there so I'm trying to change it. I have a big belly and started developing a double chin. And it's VERY difficult to keep motivating yourself to stay consistent with food and training. If I was a very fat guy it would be even more difficult.

If it’s someone close to you absolutely!! Being overweight is so dangerous and causes so many issues that just get worse as you age!!! However, I think it’s weird and rude to comment on someone’s weight that you don’t know or they didn’t ask for your input. They definitely know they are overweight, so there is no reason to comment on it if they didn’t ask or you don’t know them. It’s very rude

The idea of "I have a condition so I can't lose weight" has gone way too far in society. Being severely under/over weight should stop being normalized.

I mean it's the same with every bad thing that someone does. Being very overweight is bad not just because you will be less attractive (in general), its mostly because it's very unhealthy. But shaming DOES sometimes work, depending on who you're trying to help.
One of my best friends is really unhealthy and very fat. He is 5'11 but weighs 250+ pounds. And none of that is muscle. His ankles legit look like they could snap any second. And I never shamed him for it because I'd feel bad and I'm just not that kind of person. BUT he also has a huge ego. We have a really fit mutual friend whobhas a master's degree in kinesiology and I told him that he should ask him for advice on fat loss and he basically said "I don't need anyone's advice because I know better than him". I also asked him why he never eats salad and he said "Do I look like a rabbit to you?".
And I genuinely believe that throughout this years if we made fun of him for being fat that he would have tried to change it. Because he is like that where his ego just couldn't let this go by.

Your right, but I expected people to somehow take offense to my hot take, lol

Ya cuz people's weight aren't any of your business. The health concern is fake. They just don't like looking at fat people.

My daughter has a friend who is obese. I have seen this family eat, think of Doritos for breakfast, half the meals are fried, they ate sometimes literally 4x what I eat... I have encouraged healthy meals, invited them over for dinner and made healthy meals, nothing like super weird think of: rice with chicken and a tuna salad. But they disliked it, I kid you not she one time made a face of disgust after tasting for the first time green beans! As if she ate half a lemon kinda face. The poor girl has self esteem issues, doesn't fit clothes properly, she can't join all activites because she gets tired and this is my child's friend of course I care. I want to see this girl happy, playing and running, eating healthy stuff so that she grows up to be strong and fit. That's just mom-empathy for other children.

I'm losing weight because I want to live as long as my grandpa and I won't be able to at this size and ratio of fat to muscle. Its really fun to nom nom nom Uber eats but it's killing me. My wife likes the way I look. I'm not disgusted by myself. I Just don't want to die early.

I'm not sure where I talked about people who want to lose weight on their own but go off I guess
•
u/repeatoflasttime 16h ago
"The health concern is fake"
I cited an example of real concern.
Do you think people are incapable of extending that concern to others?
What about EMPATHY?
•
u/by2019 16h ago
Concern for yourself is not the same as concern for others especially when it comes to weight loss. No they are not incapable but it's definitely more about looks than it is health for alot of people.
•
u/repeatoflasttime 16h ago
You sure seem to know a lot about the inside of other people's heads.
I'm guessing you're a whopper and too lazy to do anything about it so to self soothe you do this online. Delete all your comments and go away. This is a healthy people conversation. Shoo

Actually I lost 80 lbs on my own
•
u/repeatoflasttime 16h ago
No you didn't. I know better than you about you. You didn't do it.
•
u/by2019 16h ago
Sure you do lol you think because you're losing weight now you get to crap on those that haven't yet or choose not to. I know what I lost and I don't need strangers on reddit to believe me.
•
u/repeatoflasttime 16h ago
Yes you do. Everything you say about you is wrong and everything I say about you is right. I have insight into your thoughts and feelings that you don't. What you say is true only if I agree.

Random people on the street? Yeah, true, none of my business.
People i care about, family, partner? You cannot in good faith say that the concearn would be fake. I’d be concearned if someone i care was smoking or drinking, or morbidly obese. All of the above are risk factors for MULTIPLE diseases.
Person on the internet who claims that being obese is healthy? I’d tell them to stop spreading medical misinformation.
•
u/by2019 17h ago
I think for sure it'd be more fake than actual real concern even though I'm sure are actually concerned
•
u/Limp-Blueberry-1316 16h ago
How couldn’t you be concearned if your partner was developing a condition or doing something that could shorten their life? Like, seriously? And i don’t mean gain a couple pounds. I mean a condition like obese, morbidly obese, very underweight. Come on
•
u/noargentinianbeef 17h ago
Exactly.
Obesity has real consequences, both to one's health and people around because at some point you cross a threshold after which you start to inconvenience people. But don't go harass them.
