If you're a fan of the character in any capacity, whether it be comics, animation, or the Arrow tv show, why not join in?

The server isn't incredibly sophisticated at the moment, but we promise that we'll be putting more time, and potentially money, keeping in line with member activity.

Comics Looking for some new comics

Upvotes

Hi, everyone!

I haven't been into comics for a while. The last time I read a Green Arrow comic was when they released the final issue after Rebirth and I am thinking about reading some new stuff (or new to me that's worth it and won't make me quit quickly).

Black Canary is my all time favorite DC character and that's one of the reasons why I started reading Green Arrow. I wanted to ask for some suggestions, please.

This is what I've read so far:

- The whole Rebirth volume until it got cancelled

- Green Arrow and Black Canary

- The Longbow Hunters (my favorite for sure!)

- The first few issues of the volume released after Longbow Hunters

- I remember reading like 5 to 7 issues of the 2003's volume, the one with Mia Dearden (I think it was Quiver? Not sure)

Thank you all! 😁

I was a green arrow hater until the absolute universe, and now I’m interested in learning more about green arrow. I just picked up issues 2-5 (that’s not a typo, my store didn’t have the 1st issue) of rebirth green arrow. What are your thoughts on the rebirth green arrow run?

Green Arrow Hot Takes

As a somewhat knowledgeable fan of Green Arrow I have some takes:

1. Roy Harper's New 52 suit (specifically this one) is by far his best one and I say better than his current one.

2. I believe Team Arrow is don't get me wrong a cool name, but I would rather called them the Merry Men. (considering Green Arrow is a Robin Hood Expy) and it feels to me a bit better than Team Arrow being a little too basic.

Discussion My hope for Matthew Lillard’s secret role in Man Of Tomorrow

We already have an older Hal Jordan (60) and it would make sense for them to go with an older Ollie too. (56)

I think Lillard and Kyle Chandler would be great together. (If they even keep Hal around)

I know this is a long shot and very unusual casting for Ollie I can also imagine a lot of you in here love Amell’s Green Arrow but how would you feel if this were to happen?

Comics Hard-Traveling Heroes, better print edition

Upvotes

Hello all! Quick easy question for yall:

I read Hard Traveling Heroes back in the day and loved it. HBO show’s got me wanting to reread.

Amazon has two versions, both listed as “complete” as far as I can tell but with vastly different lengths. There’s “DC Finest” and there’s “Omnibus”. Omnibus is hardcover and appears twice as long.

Anyone know what direction I should go from here? Thanks for the help!

Comic recommedations that display Green Arrow's Rogues Gallery?

Hi all, I'm dressing up as Green Arrow for Halloween this year and decided I needed to research the character more in-depth and thoight it would be great to hop into some of his comics.

So I went out and bought the 80th anniversary trade, the Longbow Hunters trade, and a New 52 one-shot.

While i liked all of these (except for the New 52 one-shot honestly), I would like some recommendations for what I should hunt down next if I want to see some of Green Arrow's classic villains in action, as none of these really seemed to fulfill that.

I would like to know which comic I should hop into if I want to see Clock King, Count Vertigo, Brick, Merlyn, Onomatopoeia, Prometheus, or maybe even some who yall may consider underrated.

Extra points if Black Canary is in the comic too, love the romance dynamic tbh.

Thank you guys for any suggestions! Glad that Green Arrow has been my gateway into comic books in general.

Discussion Roy Harper and William Harper

Upvotes

I have been watching Young Justice and it kinda led to this weird train of thought.

In the previous continuity, which Young Justice takes some inspiration from, Roy loses his arm due to Prometheus cutting it off with a toxin-laced blade during a devastating attack that also destroys Star City.

In the current continuity, he still lost his arm but he later has it back somehow. That's never explained. Whether by some weird magic voodoo or if its a more organic replacement somehow. Either way, both versions having used a highly advanced weaponized prosthetic. But my train of thought went to the notion of Roy being cloned.

The clone had grown up with the founding members of the team and was later revealed to be a sleeper agent and mole for The Light; the main villain group. The clone later took on the name Will; based off of his middle name. The real Roy still had his arm cut off and used an advanced prosthetic given to him by Lex Luthor.

And that made me wonder of the notion of that being adapted into the main series. Not Roy being replaced with a clone but a clone of him being created. Someone akin to Will Harper of the Young Justice series but with a more diabolical streak compared to canon. Someone who represents all the "evil" that had lurked within Roy for all this time.

Someone who doesn't like or want to be tied down by the notion of fatherhood compared to Roy. Who holds up a mirror to Oliver's worst flaws and faults. A twisted perverse person who represents the worst of the both of them and their relationship with one another. A living walking Armory to Roy's Arsenal.

Or maybe Dark/Black Arrow. Personally, I like Armory. It provides a thematic naming foil to Roy's codename of Arsenal. And while it's a different character from a previous continuity (and Hannibal Bates/Everyman), I feel like its synonymous with Merlyn the Dark Archer.

Would anyone want to see this adapted somehow into the main canon story? Or that there's already a lot of clone drama that happens enough and should just be kept away from Green Arrow, and just in YJ? Please comment respectfully.

Baffled by jumping chronology in The Kill Machine

Upvotes

I've been trying my absolute best at making sense of the chronology of Green Arrow Vol 4: The Kill Machine by Lemire and Sorrentino. I just cannot do it, it feels like a mistake has been made. But I can't find anyone else talking about it, anywhere, and the AI answers that unfortunately pop up when I type it into google are incredibly useless, completely reversing the answer dependent on exactly how I phrase the question, or talking about a completely different storyline.

So, each issue starts with a scene of Ollie walking in the desert looking for Magus, then to a "Three Weeks Earlier" as his life is getting wrecked by Komodo. So far, so fine. The desert scenes follow into each other, so it's clear that each one follows the next, up until the final one where it starts at the beginning of the desert bit and rapidly connects the deserty dots up until the present, finding Magus. Okay.

The "THREE WEEKS EARLIER" flashback scenes (the rest of each issue) also clearly follow on from each other, and also have no gaps. Ollie isn't really given time to have any gaps as he's pursued, or falling off a building, or wounded or whatever constantly. So we have two storylines - desert Ollie and Komodo v Ollie, both continuing chronologically without significant gaps, separately issue by issue.

BUT. Then we have a desert scene starting an issue - following smoothly on from the one of the previous issue - and following it we get the caption "ONE WEEK EARLIER". It is this single line that has turned my brain into porridge. Because the flashback scenes are still perfectly continuing from the last issue. There's been no chance of any time passing. We know this for sure because Ollie reminds us at that point that "Argus only gave me TWO DAYS to clear my name" before they'd interfere, and he's told he's been out for "sixteen hours", so naturally this is a worry - "We're almost out of time, Henry!"

Correct me if I'm wrong, but for the narrative jumps to go from repeated "Three weeks earlier" to "One week earlier" means that 2 weeks must have passed. But no time is ever shown to pass longer than sixteen hours. And the desert scenes follow so continuously that no significant time is ever shown to pass - at least two whole weeks!

So:

Ollie is shot through with arrows and passes out (Three weeks earlier timeline)

Ollie wakes up 16 hours later (One week earlier timeline ???)

I've written too much on this but please help me out here. Am I being an idiot? Can anyone with the comic to hand have a look at it and make sense of it?

I know it's silly I can't just let it go, but the fact nobody else has mentioned it on the entire internet, it seems, I feel like I'm the one at fault. But I still can't make it work.
