I'm heading to Athens in 2.5 weeks for vacation. I am coming solo, but then I have a small group tour that starts on Day 6. We will see the Acropolis & Acropolis Museum as a group on Day 7, so I didnt include that in my solo itinerary.
I just want to make sure I am making good use of my solo time prior to my tour
Day 1 - Land around 8am. Drop bags at hotel (located in Historic Triangle). I plan to do some walking this day and see some basic sights. I realize i may have to cut this short based on how tired I am.
Walk from Monastiraki Sq to Pysri and over to the Ancient Agora and back to Monastiraki.
Walk from Monastiraki to Roman Agora, Plaka and thru the scenic parts there.
Walk from Plaka to Anafiotika.
Walk on to Philopappos Hill and Pnyx Hill and back to my hotel.
Day 2 - Meet bus @ Larissa Station to head to Meteora. Arrive in Meteora around 1pm. Sunset tour via minibus. Stay in Kastraki.
Day 3 - Hiking tour from Kastraki at 8:30am. Return to hotel around 1pm, get some lunch somewhere. Head to Kalambaka for a 5pm sunset e-bike tour. Get some dinner afterwards and hopefully find a taxi to take me back to Kastraki so i dont have to walk in the dark.
Day 4 - Bus from Meteora to Delphi. Afternoon in Delphi. Bus back to Athens to arrive in Athens around 7pm. Dinner & bed.
Day 5 - Try to see whatever I missed on Day 1. Food tour at 12:30pm. Try to get to Lycabettus Hill for Sunset. Would like to try to fit in the Olympic Stadium.
Day 6 - National Archeological Museum 9/10am. Lunch. Meet my group tour at 2:30pm
Day 7 - Group Tour day, Acropolis & Acropolis Museum
Day 8 - Ferry to Naxos
Days 9 - 15 - 2 more nights Naxos, 5 nights Crete, 1 night Athens, then go home. I dont need things to do these days since the tour has things scheduled.
Am I missing anything amazing on my free days in Athens?? Thank you!
