Florida State was one dimensional with only 51 passing yards. Prior to tonight only one team out of 40 has ever one committing +4 turnovers. SMU became the second team to do so!

Happy Labor Day Gators🐊. Now that we’ve had fun and truly basked in how awesome our coach is, our sights are now ahead to the Campbell matchup. This should be a give me win for the Gators, I’ve never even heard of Campbell until a guy I went to school with transferred there, so not sure if they are any good at all. What’re some things yall would like to see from the Gators this week to bring even more confidence heading into the SEC games for the year? For me, offensively I believe we should be able to replicate our game against Campbell, I’d like to see no turnovers though. I’d love to see Baugh replicate his FAU game. I’d also like to see clean lineman play, no penalties, at least for false starts. Defensive is where I believe the most improvement should be seen and I think we all share that. I’d like to see us get at least 5 sacks honestly I want to see pocket pressure all night. An improved reaction to the HB slipping to the flat will be nice too, as this is a team where if you sleep on em they will dink and dunk on you all game. I think we could at least cause 2-3 turnovers easily. I’d also like to see us hold them to under 17 points. My score prediction, if we get what we got game 1, will be 56-10 Florida. I'm very puzzled as to why Trask, Tebow, and Wuerffel, who arguably had the best field vision and accuracy out of all the Gators QB's, never did much in the NFL. The only former Gator QB to make it to the Super Bowl, was SexyRexy, but he didn't win, and his time in the NFL was erratic, at best. Anthony Richardson is the only former Gator QB in the NFL right now, as far as I know, and he was mediocre at best. I can't understand a world where Richardson has a slot but Trask doesn't. Very bizarre.

I'm a foreigner that recently started to watch cfb, this is my second season so i wasn't here for most of Napier's time. I'm seeing a lot of hype with Sumrall but from my experience with my soccer team, every time a new coach/star player comes ppl get euphoric. Is it the same with CFB?

There used to be someone in here who posted a chart like this that I always found interesting to follow, but they appear to have stopped, so I recreated the chart myself and will post it after each week.

Quick guide on reading it:

Each week is a row, if you go to the 4th row down (the one with the Ole Miss game), then read across, that is the projected percentage chance to have won the number of games above the percentage, AFTER that game. So after the Ole Miss game, it says we will have a roughly 30.5% chance to be 4-0, a 49.3% chance to be 3-1, and a 20.0% chance to be 2-2. You can also see at the final column what the expected average wins by that week are. So after week 4 we are expected to have won 3.10 games. Also note that the percentages are not cumulative, so if you look at the final week, we have a 22.7% chance to win 8 games, but that means 8 games EXACTLY, and does not include the chance to win 9 or more. If you add up all of the numbers above this you can see our odds to win AT LEAST 8 are put at more like 40%

The Florida Gators absolutely shredded FAU 66-21 in an explosive season opener, racking up a mind-blowing 624 total yards at a devastating 9.3 yards per play.

The offense was completely unstoppable and perfectly balanced, weaponizing a high-flying aerial attack for 343 passing yards while brutalizing the Owls on the ground for 281 rushing yards. Florida reached the red zone eight times and scored eight touchdowns. The Gators scored on 10 of their 11 offensive possessions, with the only unsuccessful drive ending in an interception.

By almost every conventional measure, it was an extraordinary debut for Jon Sumrall.

But one troubling statistic is being ignored.

Florida punted for zero yards.

Not one punt. Not one booming spiral pinning FAU inside its own 10. Not one opportunity for the coverage unit to sprint 50 yards and demonstrate proper lane discipline. Punter Alec Clark dressed for the game, stood patiently on the sideline, and was never given the opportunity to contribute.

This represents a dramatic decline from the Billy Napier era:

1. 2022: 1,678 punting yards, or 129.1 yards per game
2. 2023: 2,052 punting yards, or 171.0 yards per game
3. 2024: 2,699 punting yards, or 207.6 yards per game
4. Napier’s seven games in 2025: 1,410 punting yards, or 201.4 yards per game
5. Jon Sumrall in 2026: 0 punting yards, you read that right! 0.0 yards per game!

During Napier’s tenure, Florida accumulated 7,839 punting yards in 45 games, an impressive average of 174.2 yards per game.

Sumrall is currently trailing that standard by more than 174 yards per game.

At his present pace, Florida will finish the regular season with zero punting yards, raising serious questions about Sumrall’s commitment to field position, special teams development, and maintaining the proud statistical traditions established by his predecessor.

Scoring 66 points is nice. Averaging 9.3 yards per play is certainly encouraging. But championship programs understand the importance of balance, and right now Florida’s offense is leaving its punter completely unsupported.

It is only one game, so I am willing to be patient. Still, Sumrall must get this corrected before SEC play.

You simply cannot compete in this conference while being this one-dimensional.

Sumrall has been wearing the same style of hat for several years now, going back at least to his time at Troy. Does anyone recognize the brand or style? There's a jumpman logo on his current one but I don't think that's the brand since they dont work with Tulane or Troy.

UF’s club hockey team kicked off the weekend Friday night in front of a packed house at the Igloo in Jacksonville. They pull off a thrilling overtime winner. Second game is this afternoon at 1:30 to send High Point back home with a couple L’s. Admission is free.

Really disappointed in how SECN covered the 3rd quarter tradition. They basically gave a few seconds of the profile of Petty and the smoke after the fireworks. I get that we had Disney’s 8th or 9th string production team, with a few former Gators sprinkled in, but that was just terrible.
