Hey there!
I just moved here and I am trying to meet new people. I am 35M and originally from Key West. I moved from Palm Beach county at the beginning of August to attend school for electrical engineering over the next several years. I work from home so I don’t get out much, but I am making an effort to meet new people. I am an introvert who can pretend to be an extrovert when it suits me. My experience meeting people here so far has been far more pleasant than in Palm Beach county. My peers at school are obviously a bit younger than me, so I am looking elsewhere.
As far as my current attempts at socialization, I am trying out HIIT(Crossfit) gyms to find one I like with a decent social atmosphere. I am also actively attempting to make friends/connections in the local jazz/music scene. I am studying guitar and piano with the intent of completing a minor in jazz studies.
I enjoy music, art, history, cooking, nature, travel, and learning languages amongst many other things. I have lived in Mexico and Germany, and speak Spanish and German. I love animals. I’ve helped found and maintain an animal refuge in Nicaragua for the past several years. My youth was spent on the ocean around Key West fishing and diving. I also enjoy building guitar amps and doing electronics/arduino projects.
I’m not into sports, video games, or cars.
Recently when I am not working or doing something school-related, I spend my free time exercising (running, swimming, HIIT), playing/practicing guitar and piano, reading, or watching classic television/movies. I love Twilight Zone, Star Trek, Rocky and Bullwinkle, Seahunt, etc.
I am happy spending a Saturday afternoon kayaking down a river, cooking a meal, napping, or watching Zoolander/Austin Powers on shrooms 🤣 Having an adventure, or doing nothing at all works for me. I enjoy waking up early, so I don’t do well staying out late, but I can if it’s worth it. I can confidently say that I probably derive too much pleasure from watching Spongebob Squarepants. I love the Grateful Dead and 70’s music in general.
Looking to meet down-to-earth people who enjoy going out in nature and playing/listening to music. I am also totally down if someone wants a language exchange, I taught English when I lived in Mexico and need to keep speaking Spanish/German. I plan to pursue a second minor in Francophone studies, so I would love to meet French speakers as well. I consider myself an ally and supporter of the LGBTQ and minority communities.
Thanks!
