I caught my personal best drum on a microrod while bait fishing this weekend, it was a little over 24 inches long

After 3 weeks of going solo fishing, I finally caught my first fish today!

I adjusted my bobber, added a worm, cast near the grass and almost immediately my line started moving.

Then all hell broke loose. 😂 I couldn’t figure out how to reel him in and I thought he was going to break my line! So in a panic, I grabbed the line with my hand. (Which I know is a huge no,no)

And then he got stuck in the grass, so I SCOOPED HIM OUT WITH MY BUCKET. He started flopping, so naturally…I put the lid on him. 😭

I walked over to a family fishing nearby and the dad helped me remove the hook. Took my picture with my first catfish and released him.
10/10 experience!!!!

I’d like to share a quick story about my dad, Arthur Miskevich!
Notice: The fish in the story is my dad’s, if someone wants to say why did I post someone else’s fish, he said that he would be happy if I posted this story.
In the early 2000s my dad lead a tour to Tugur River, which holds the largest Taimens in the world. Though people like Jeremy Wade fished in Mongolia for them, the Taimens there are small, about (10-30lbs.) because of their diet which is mostly smaller fish or mice. While in Tugur the Taimens eats a lot of Chum Salmon, when those are breeding. In that tour my dad caught a 94.4lbs Siberian Taimen, this is the picture. And his clients caught Taimens above 120lbs.
None of those went into the IGFA records because the fish was released quickly. And nobody even tried to get it into the records.
After this tour, like 10 years later Jeremy Wade sent 2 of his representatives to talk to my dad about having a guided trip for Taimen too, but in the end Jeremy declined and went to Mongolia because it was cheaper.

My 4 year dropped one my poles today in the water. There's a reason she runs one of the cheap poles i don't really care about. I was able to hook it with a minnow swimbait and pull it back up. That was the one thing I caught today. My own pole. Lol.

Caught this guy today and it appears to exhibit mostly spotted characteristics (tooth patch, lines on lower half of body) but the length of the mouth is borderline and almost looks like that of a largemouth.

Smallest bass I’ve ever caught

I caught this guy yesterday, a little string of ponds by my uncle's cabin, exactly what I was hoping for as most people use the area to run around on their dirt bikes and 4 wheelers, so it seems not too many people fish there.

Was a great day on the river too. :)

Another pretty common fish in Asia.
They live in rivers and can be caught using corn, worms, soft plastic lures that imitate insects, etc.
Still a cool species in my collection.

Started fishing pretty recently and was wondering if this was a good fish or not and weight estimates he was 20" long 5" wide and maybe 3.5" in girth. Caught in Grayson Lake Kentucky.

Edit: I think I should make this very clear after looking at the picture, I do not have down syndrome. I would say im a very average looking kid its just the angle lol. I feel like i should say that because the picture 100% might make it look that way. Nothing against people with DS I just dont have it.

What does your Ideal fishing shed setup look like? My cousin got married this weekend, and this was across the pond at the venue. It was a public facility I believe and not being used compared to the kayak rental facility not pictured.

Regardless, I thought to myself “that is what the perfect fishing shed looks like to me.” The roof was covered in the grass from the hillside. Truly a neat spot!

Pulled out of McGregor Bay in Ontario today. Pretty sure there wasn't any prop trauma while reeling it in. Certainly a bit concerning for Red Sore Disease. The rest of the pike looked normal to me. Definitely would appreciate any help with identifying what this is and if the fish is OK to eat.

I’m headed to the panhandle this month for a family vacation.

What kind of fishing can I get into? I don’t have any saltwater gear and I’m not planning on bringing anything but I might be able to bring a catfish rod. I’ll have a budget for bait & tackle down there but I’d like to spend the least amount of money while catching the biggest, heaviest, meanest fish.

Edit: gonna be within driving distance of “the best jetty in the world” if that changes the answer at all. Not sure how jetty fishing compares to surf fishing or how to do either, but I figure I’ll try both
