This is a local crow "Bill" who I have been feeding summers now for several years 4??. Joins larger flocks and winters elsewhere and shows up in the summer sometimes with his partner. I have noticed this year he is quite grey and a bit ratty. Not sure if it's old age or moulting for winter. Wondering if anyone had some insight.

Hello to my fellow bros and sisters...I've started feeding some crows who visit me, and I have regulars. I recognize them by distinct physical features. One of my regulars has a very long hooked beak, which I Googled, and it looks like this particular crow has Avian Keratin Disorder, which I didn't know was a thing until now.

He/she (can't tell what) seems to eat just fine. I put out cat kibble, tiny bits of fruit, nuts, etc., and I have seen this crow eating with no problems. But it sounds like this is a disease that doesn't go away and gets worse.

This is a wild animal, I know that, so I figure there isn't much I can do, but are there any foods that are good for disabled birds? Again, he/she is doing fine with kibble for now, but is there anything I'm not thinking of that is easier to eat?

Ive been putting out peanuts for about a month but the neighborhood crows didnt seem interested. I even hung outside for long times and waited for one to pass nearby, then i shook the peanut container to get their attention before putting them out and i went inside.

Nothing worked until today. One was on the roof next door and he probably smelled the pancakes i was making. I threw him a small piece and waited inside. He then jumped to a higher spot (I guess to better survey the area) then after a while he went for it! I dont know if he saw me or just saw the food being flung on the roof lol but still, the joy im feeling is a new type!!

Hi, I live in California, near Hermosa Beach, and I’m wondering if it is possible to legally adopt a crow in this area or nearby. I’d like to know what would be required for that any information you can provide would be appreciated.

Bold squeaky on their feeder

Never thought I would see something like this. Been feeding this family of crows (parents, this year’s adolescents and last year’s adolescents/now adults), for about a year. They come and hang out consistently a few times a day, and have done a fantastic job at chasing hawks away from the property (haven’t lost a single chicken to a hawk since befriending the crows).

I am guessing this was a juvenile hawk- was near my coop on the neighbors property line and was chased off by their dog. Flew straight to the far fence line, where the crows happened to be. I find it super interesting that they just sat there, for a good 5 minutes. I assume the young hawk assumed the birds were a safe space after being chased, and the crows saw the hawk as non-threatening.

And scared the shit out of me. The video doesn’t do it justice but he’s Huge when he’s flying & I didn’t see him coming

Ive only been feeding this group of fledglings for a week and they are getting very bold.... If you have watched my last video, you will remember about Bouncy, the adult magpie. Thanks to him he made it possible :D (the normal sound is on)

Our little murder kept growing! 🐦‍⬛ Grandpa counted about 11 this morning. But every time I try, somebody moves or hides behind somebody else. 😆

How many do you count, and is this normal behaviour?

They were unusually polite, too, hardly any squabbling. Just a neighborhood breakfast meeting, it was nice to see 😄

I painted these pieces over the summer for a pride gallery wall and recently picked them up to bring home. I finally found a spot on the wall for them and I couldn’t be more thrilled! It feels so good to look over and see these buddies dueling <3

I’m including a close up of the tree painting underneath since these are companion pieces. I added some small details of feathers in the tree and the dirt for fun flair— I’m thinking of going back in to add more.

All I think about these days is painting more birds (& critters), it really motivates me to keep observing and learning more about these cool guys (peep the bonus quail metal art on my wall ;) )

My daughter has been feeding the neighbourhood crows and magpies all summer. 3 fledglings from last year came back, but only one (we think) stuck around, and sadly lost a leg somehow.

She tosses out a handful of peanuts twice a day; sometimes more. If she's late on the morning delivery either the crow or one of the magpies will sit on our roof and call until someone comes out.

Today she came home and noticed a crabapple on our step. There are no crabapple trees anywhere near our house. You can see by the photo that it has suspicious stab marks! She showed it to me thinking it was a gift, and I think she's right!

I have been feeding local crows for several months already. I think they became used to me since recently they come pretty close or time to time some of them fly near me to get attention as I guess. But they never tried to touch me or sit on me or anything.
So today I was feeding them as usually on our usual spot and then slowly went by my daily route. Most of the time they tend not to follow me much further past certain point (or preter to stay high on trees), probably due more people and dogs being there (and also I try not to feed them around other people or animals or in certain areas).
But today they insisted on following me by walking on the ground much further than I used to. I didn't think anything of that because even if it's rare, it's happens sometimes.
The problems started when one of them suddenly flew close to me from behind and touched my head with paws as if trying to sit there and then landed in front of me. I was surprised, but didn't do anything about that. Then when I went further other crows started to do the same, especially when I stoped feeding them as it seems. I quickly left them not knowing what to do. On my way back near our usual spot they seemed to become more calm, but one of them still tried to fly near me.
I find it strange since this happened so out of blue. They never behaved like this before and they never were aggressive or defensive near that spot if they even showed up there. I am worried that this might happen again and I am not sure about their intentions.

Sorry if my story sounds confusing, English is not my first language. Probably I won’t be that concerned about this behaviour if it was only one of them, but since it’s like that I would really like to make sure if everything is fine, haha
