Relocating bat colony? -VA
Hello, does anyone have any tips or tricks to relocating the bat colony from our barn to an outdoor bathouse?
The barn has been unused for many years but we are revamping it and getting some new animals. We have a colony of about 20 bats that live in there and we love our bats just not when they poop excessively in the main walkway of the barn.
There is a big tree just outside the barn that we want to put a bathouse on but we have no idea how to make it known to the bats that we would like them to move into it.
Any tips?
TYIA
We are located in northern Virginia if that changes anything.

Is the Echo Meter Touch 2 Pro that's used with a ipad or iphone worth it over the non-pro mic? It looks like the pro will give you bat ID during use, but then allow for highly accurate ID later with the recording analyzed by paid software.

Someone requested these pictures I had downloaded that I used for the meme I posted earlier. Here they are!!!
Got to spend a night out mist netting in Central Europe last week, and it was one of the more interesting sessions I've been part of. Sharing some photos.
Between 8 PM and 1 AM we pulled in more than 100 bats, and the vast majority were Western Barbastelles (Barbastella barbastellus). If you've never seen one up close, they've got this flat, almost pug-like face with big ears that meet at the base – it's such a distinctive look, hard to mistake for anything else once you know it. Mixed in were a bunch of Common Pipistrelles (Pipistrellus pipistrellus) too, somewhat smaller bats compared to the barbastelles, which made for a fun contrast handling both in the same night.
Quick disclaimer since it comes up: Bats are strictly protected across the EU, so this isn't a grab-a-net-and-go kind of activity – training and authorization are required.
Ask away if you're curious about IDs, handling, or how the night went.

today we had painters painting the outside of our house and one said a bat flew out from behind one of our outer shutters.
I am irrationally afraid of rabies and a bat getting into my house. my husband thinks I’m overreacting but I have a wildlife removal company coming tomorrow my house tomorrow to assess the bat situation.
my concern is cost. I have no idea how much it’ll be to remove the bats then seal the spaces around the shutters but if it means keeping me and my family safe I’ll pay anything. my second concern is, do I need to do this? my husband is a huge animal lover and doesn’t think it’s necessary. I am more concerned about preventing bats or any other animal from entering my house and potentially harming me and my family.
Are bats nesting in the shutters on the outside of my home a valid concern? Enough for me to shell out the cost to seal up the shutters gaps?
