My dog puked on my carpet the other night so I did the following:
Scraped up bulk of it
Laid and packed baking soda into carpet
Poured vinegar over it to lift out extra gunk
Patted/swept away foam
Applied a small amount of oxi clean stain remover
Applied a couple hits of resolve urine remover formula
Patted dry
Tried to let air dry and vacuum but then felt like it wasn't drying very efficiently, so I scrubbed the remaining surface with a light soap and water solution to try and get the chemicals out and hit it with a fan
Vacuumed.
Then this afternoon the carpet turned noticeably lighter than the surrounding area. Really hoping to not void my security deposit but I'm afraid somewhere along the line I "did too much." My first guess is the peroxide in the "urine stain remover." It is known to lighten things. It is frustrating since the bottle says you can use it for vomit, amd that you can use it in carpets.
What went wrong here? Is there anything I can do to fix this? I thought about re-dying it very precisely or lightening the rest of the carpet to make it blend in 😅
