Awarded a Cat glad to be chosen by my little olive 🫒
Meet my sweet little monster, Olive Marbles. I found her in my backyard and was beyond excited bc my favourite coloured cats are orange or black ones. She’s my all of the above calico kitty :)
I played with her that night and thought she’d be gone the next day. Turns out, she didn’t leave, she was sleeping in our shed 🥹. She stayed with me for like 4 days as an outdoor kitty. I fed her and played with her when I got the chance. When I finally took her to the vet to check for a microchip, they took her from me, and I thought I’d never see her again. I was so sad, lol. I made a playlist for her.
A couple of days went by, and the shelter called and told me that I would have first dibs when she gets put up for adoption. Now, I’m her official owner :,). She chose me, and I chose her back.

She's so cute! Did you get her microchipped and fixed yet?

The shelter she stayed at did all of that for me :). I just had to sign some papers and pay.

I don’t understand why you put her in a shelter, sign some papers and pay for a cat that YOU found.

Because in some Countries or States in order to adopt a stray cat there is a set waiting time. Also if people are unable to afford spaying, Vaccinations etc some shelters will take a cat in, perform the necessary procedures and then allow you to adopt.

Many places require you to hand over a found animal to the shelter for some set time period to give the owner a chance to come forward, if there is one. If nobody does, the person who found them gets first dibs on adopting. The payment is for the shelter giving the cat a microchip and spay - likely at a lower cost than if OOP had to find a vet of their own. It’s not really paying for the animal, it’s paying for the shelter’s operating costs - food, staff, vet care.

Beautiful cat. We had a calico munchkin. But Olive is an amazing cali-tux. Looks like she’s found her forever home.

I've never had a calico before this one of mine. They are so sweet and cute. I say when they were printing her, they asked, "What color do you want?" And she said, "Yes." 🐱🖤🤍🧡
