General Information Important Hot Weather advice for Cats

Upvotes

Summer Solstice has arrived and with it the start of Summer. This is the time of year we need to look out for our furbabies and protect them from hot weather.

Here are the key temperature thresholds for our furbabies:

Ideal Comfort Zone: 20°C to 26°C (68°F to 79°F)

Too Hot / Risk Zone: Above 30°C (86°F)

Emergency Threshold: Above 35°C (95°F)

Cats that are at higher risk in hot temperatures are Kittens, senior cats, overweight cats, and flat-faced breeds such as Persians and Long Haired Cats although all cats need protection from getting too overheated during hotter times.

Cats and overheating:

Our Furbabies find it difficult to regulate their body temperatures in hot weather as they sweat through their pawpads, lips and chin. They are also covered in fur ( apart from the furless breeds) so cooling down can be difficult for them.

If your cat starts panting heavily during very hot weather( please see the heat chart above) then they may be suffering from heat stroke. If you think this is the case seek immediate vet treatment as cats will not survive without life changing damage to their organs and brain when they suffer from too high a temperature for too long.

Happily most of the U.S, Canada and surrounding countries have air conditioning in their homes. If you are in the UK, parts of Europe and hotter Countries such as the Middle East we have to rely on other sources in order to keep cool.

Keep your cat indoors when the sun is at it's warmest usually 10.00 - 3.00p.m although in extreme temperatures keep all pets indoors.

• Before letting your cats outside do a heat test and touch the concrete ground in your garden or outside your home with your hand, if it is too hot to touch it is definitely too hot for the paw pads on your pets.

• Provide plenty of water in a few different places throughout your home, pop some ice cubes in too if you can, keep the water topped up.

• Make some shaded areas with cool spots for kitty to lay in or on. Ideally your kitty will sit or sleep on a cooling mat but if they are having a typical cat day then they will ignore it and lay elsewhere.

• Place cool damp towels so kitty can lay on them and allow access to your bathroom and anywhere inside your home with a tiled or stone floor.

• Try wrapping a frozen bottle of water in a tea-towel and place it near to where your cat is laying.

• Move rooms if need be and avoid the sunnier rooms.

• Place fans with air circulating around the room.

• Try gently spraying them with cooled water, they may hate you at the time but it will cool them down.

Here are some Cat treats you can make for kitty to help hydrate them during hot weather, these are also ideal for helping Feral cats if you have garden cats or help with strays in your area.

Scoop some spring water tinned tuna or salmon ( make sure it's non oily and not in brine) into an ice cube tray and freeze it.

Freeze some churus or any liquidy squeezy type cat snacks.

Cat milk can also be frozen into little treat sized noms ( do not use normal milk as most cats are lactose intolerant).

Bananas/melons can be mashed up and frozen too even kittys' usual wet cat food can be frozen as a treat or for trying to tempt kitty to eat .

Keep small packets of wet kitten or cat food in the fridge, not only are they easier to open and slide out in one squeeze, but kitty gets to enjoy some nice fresh cold food

Here is some important advice Curtesy of Cats Protection:

Sunburn in cats:

All cats can get sunburn, but cats who are white or have thinner fur are more at risk. Being out in the sun a lot can lead to skin cancer, so it’s important to make sure your cat doesn’t spend too long lazing in the sun.

Ears and noses are where your cat is most likely to get burnt. Keep an eye on them and make sure they have plenty of access to shady areas.

Signs of sunburn in cats:

If your cat does get sunburn, there are a couple of symptoms to look out for, including:

red, sore skin in the affected area, blistering and peeling.

If you notice this, make an appointment with your vet straight away.

Can I put sun cream on my cat?

You can put sunscreen on your cat, but you need to make sure it’s pet-safe first so speak to your vet about the best product to use. Make sure you use SPF30 or higher and that it’s waterproof.

You should apply sun cream to your cat’s nose, tips of the ears, belly and groin areas as well as anywhere that has thin to no fur to help protect them from the sun.

Avoid sun cream with zinc oxide and a group of chemicals that are referred to as salicylates in the ingredients. Both are toxic to cats and can cause them to be very unwell, particularly salicylates.

Signs your cat is dehydrated:

It’s important for your cat to get enough water. This can be through drinking and through eating wet food. Staying hydrated will help to keep your cat healthy and they may need to have even more water when the weather is warm.

If your cat doesn’t get enough water, they may become dehydrated. Signs your cat is dehydrated include:

their gums. If your cat’s gums are sticky or tacky, this may be the first sign of dehydration

their skin. Very gently pinch their skin. In a well-hydrated cat, the skin should snap back into place immediately. If it doesn’t, they could well be dehydrated

their eyes. Severely sunken eyes that appear dry can indicate significant dehydration

their paws. If their paws feel cool or cold, this could be a sign of dehydration

If you are worried your cat is dehydrated, ring your vet straight away.

Kitten Information It's Kitten Season 🐈‍⬛

Upvotes
Mamma Agnes and her Mewborns curtesy of u/mc385

''Spring in the air there's magic everywhere when you're young and in love'' so goes the song and it is truly the Season for love and reproduction wherever you look, Kittens, lambs, chicks, babies, puppies, yuckers ... yes yuckers !!!

Newborns no sign of Mom

Your first instinct may be to swoop in and just grab the little cherubs .. STOP yourself and have a careful look around for a sign of it's mother. They may be off hunting for food or moving other kittens somewhere. If you are uncertain on what to do, this clear and concise guide from r/AskVet on how to proceed gives step by step actions on what to do next It’s kitten season! You found a litter of kittens - now what?!. All guides state that kittens have a much higher rate of survival if left in the care of their Mother so please wait and watch carefully before stepping in. If the birthing environment is dangerous or the kittens look injured or ill then please by all means intervene.

Also, If there is just one kitten please look around for the rest of the litter in case the Mother cat has dropped the kitten whilst moving them.

Newborns, no Mom ..help!!

You will have to do everything that Mom would do and that is feeding this baby, keeping it warm, helping it to go to the toilet and monitoring it constantly

Here is Bottle feeding advice from Hannah Shaw the kitten lady, you will need KMR which is Kitten Milk Replacement thankfully available in most large grocery stores, vets, etc plus a feeding bottle or syringe.

Helping kitty to poop and pee again advice from the Kitten Lady with a video demonstrating how to help the little one to go to the toilet. Read the whole page please as it will tell you how to keep this cherub warm with the aid of a heating pad and which ones to buy.

This is life saving advice from u/wolf_spooder an ex vet and kitten foster who is also a member of the Cat Distribution System here:

Just to add to this, I recently started fostering a 4wk old kitten that was abandoned by its mom. I’m very experienced in cats and kittens, and worked at a vet hospital for a while. I really struggled with this little one and keeping her alive for the first week or so (she was very thin when I got her and it sort of spiraled from there).

Get a food scale if you don’t already have one, and start keeping tabs of your kittens weight (use the gram setting). It will help you to know if kitten is gaining or losing weight so you can intervene quickly if you see it’s losing weight. Good luck and good job saving a life.

VITAL info when saving a solo Newborn kitten please read - from Socialisation saves lives

Further advice on what to do and not to do with Newborn kittens and good reading can be found on the Animal Alliance NYC website and via the Cats Protection UK, all the links provided connect you directly to the right web pages.

Please also consider making a post on our sister sub too via r/Feral_Cats to get additional advice from veteran members who have vast knowledge on trapping and helping with strays and ferals

Newborns and Mother:

If you have taken in a 'Trojan cat' as they are lovingly called then you are in for the experience of a lifetime. There is so much advice available for a soon to be Mom and her kittens that at best we recommend that you visit  the Kitten Lady, Hannah Shaw for help and advice. Hannah is an amazing lover of cats and has helped thousands of people over the years with cat and kitten help and now has several excellent videos demonstrating all kinds of advice on helping with cat care including Pregnant Mom and kitten care - Birthing Mom and kitten care. Pregnant and Birthing Moms need plenty of fresh water and kitten food if available as kitten food contains protein and essential nutrients needed for fetal development and the production of kitty milk so get shopping.

Kitten:

If the kitty is not a newborn then after a quick vet check to confirm kitties age this little one will need you to become their parent, kittens are teeny tiny pooping, eating and meowing machines wrapped up in fur, purrs and love with the lifetime rewards of caring for them far outweighing the time taken in nurturing them. This is the toddler stage and they will be learning how to use the kitty litter tray, how to eat and how to play along with taking lots of naps. Kittens learn faster than human toddlers and usually take to their litter trays pretty quickly.

Here you can find an up to date list of supplies you may need to keep them fed, cosy and happy essential supplies for kitty again referring to the Kitten Lady.

Trapping advice Mom and Babies:

Here is advice on how to trap Mom and babies with an option of spaying too by Feral Cat Focus WNY Trapping Queen and kittens.

Awarded a Cat The CDS got me again with a little kitten on my front porch.

This little girl with extra toes showed up on our front porch last week. She was covered in fleas, underweight, and had pneumonia. She seems to be on the mend now after we took her to the vet and have been caring for her for a few days. My son named her Whitey. The CDS got me three years ago with a kitten with a degloved lower lip and a bb bullet in her leg that was being chased by a fox. At this point, we're getting hit exclusively by the Kitten Distribution System. The KDS? I can't say I'm even mad about it.

Update Opened my screen door and this little guy is trying to claim me

Post image
Upvotes

I haven't seen him til today. Little baby, maybe 4 months old. No collar. Very sweet, friendly, and vocal. I suspect he has a home at another apartment nearby, but it makes me so mad they're letting this baby outside. Am hoping he just got out. I want to keep him, but I don't get paid until next Wednesday plus he might belong to someone nearby. I'm going to contact the rental office and ask them to put out word, see if anyone's missing a kitty.

He's absolutely adorable. Maybe 3-4 months old. Little white patch on the chest. Spent several minutes making biscuits on me and purring.

EDIT: Update: He ran right back outside a few minutes ago. Pretty sure he has humans and was playing me for snacks and pets. Took off like a shot when I opened the door again to get the mail. I'm sad but I hope he'll be okay and has a home nearby. At least I had some kitty time!

Update One month and some change with A’miga (now and then)

Thumbnail

Upvotes

It’s been one month and some change since. bringing A’miga indoors 🐈

I was looking through some of the earliest footage I have of Miga and found the second pic I posted. I’m in disbelief, my poor girl was balding and scrawny!! It’s hard to notice small changes in something you see everyday, so I’m pretty proud to see how much she’s improved.

I felt like an intruder in my own room when I saw her on the bed today. She mostly prefers laying on hard surfaces or being under the bed. But it looks like she’s getting used to being COMFORTABLE (which I love)

She’s still nervous around Coco (my super senior dog who is not much bigger than her), but the other night she joined us on the sofa for a nap, one at each of my sides.

It’s been a joy having her in the house. Can’t wait to see how much she grows and changes!

Awarded a Cat Two babies abandoned in a hoarder house

My husband works as maintenance for a landlord. He got the task of helping clean out a recently evicted property. The place was disgusting, crawling with roaches, and maggots in the beds/furniture. No food or liter boxes.

These two babies were left behind and kicked outside. How someone could abandon these sweethearts is beyond me. He was cleaning there for a few days, and they were so attached to him. They kept approaching him and were so sweet. We started feeding them and after a few days brought them home. They are doing so well 🥹🥹

Are you kitten me!! CDS found me again with this little angel.

I feed a stray cat colony who are all TNRed. Out of nowhere earlier this week this baby popped up. She’s been hanging around the other cats but I don’t think they have welcomed her! My mom and I felt so bad for the baby and decided to snatch her up after the rainy day yesterday. I think she’s about 10 weeks old and is a feisty little one! Hopefully after some decompression she warms up to us! Also this is just a temporary litter setup for her safety den while we scent swap with our other cats too!

Any tips for feral kittens will be appreciated!

Day Zero, The CDS has chosen! Granddaughter comes to visit and the kitten follows her home. The kitten chose our porch overnight, just walked right inside come breakfast time. Outside is not safe and so the story begins with no choice but to honor fate & take the appropriate steps to ensure this life is blessed with all the compassion we have to offer.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated as I have never raised a Cat.

Honestly I am freaking out!

This is life I was not prepared for & things have not been smooth this year.

So far the kitten has been fed, entertained & has chosen my gaming chair for what my wife says

"Is probably the best sleep the kitten has ever had"

Going to bathe & Start the vet search here shortly. Will keep updated.

Tl;dr: landlord said no to having a cat 😭

I have been building up to rescuing a cat.

My cat/our cat lives with an ex. Who is her primary human. I have visitation privileges. But, the cat is wholly unimpressed with my no longer being a resident and tolerates my visits.

One of my housemates moved out with her cat. So the position is currently vacant.

All the housemates are fine with it.

I asked for permission from the landlord and he said no. 😭 (previous resident cat was illegal)

Today is a sad day. 😔 💔

I love my house. But, I will have to move in the none to distant future and realise my full cat dad potential.

Cat tax: Pic of Gimlet my estranged cat.

Meet my sweet little monster, Olive Marbles. I found her in my backyard and was beyond excited bc my favourite coloured cats are orange or black ones. She’s my all of the above calico kitty :)

I played with her that night and thought she’d be gone the next day. Turns out, she didn’t leave, she was sleeping in our shed 🥹. She stayed with me for like 4 days as an outdoor kitty. I fed her and played with her when I got the chance. When I finally took her to the vet to check for a microchip, they took her from me, and I thought I’d never see her again. I was so sad, lol. I made a playlist for her.

A couple of days went by, and the shelter called and told me that I would have first dibs when she gets put up for adoption. Now, I’m her official owner :,). She chose me, and I chose her back.

Struck by CDS while walking my dog

I was walking my dog when CDS struck and brought me a kitten that looks identical to my soul cat that passed 2 years ago. Meet Cleo!

Cleo is getting along with my two cats (as you can see in the last picture). We took her to the vet to see if she has a microchip and also checked the neighborhood a few times to see if anyone is looking for her. We suspect she's from the batch of stray kittens that my neighbors have been trying to trap. The vet estimated her to be around 4 months old. I feel a little overwhelmed with 3 cats and 1 dog but think everything will work out. Wish me luck!

I remember when she was an introvert shy baby stray cat, she would be scared of people and wouldn’t let you get closer, until one day she sat on my lap at the park, that was the moment when I knew I was the chosen one.

She casually started sneaking into the house and now she stands there like she pays the bills, staring at you with disappointment, waking you up to feed her as you were her paid maid, she refuses to set foot outside the house and looks at the stray cats with disgust. She became what she hated most. And I’m here to support whatever she thinks she is.

Our little army of CDS kitties <3

My family has been blessed by the CDS quite a few times in the past few years <3

First 3 pics are Furby (white fur) and Bean (black fur) - we found them when my grandma called us because she saw two little kittens hiding in some thick weeds in the woods when she was walking her dogs. Took us an hour or two of searching to find them both. Can't imagine how two babies so young ended up there :( Bonus - we call Furb "momma Furb" because he absolutely took in the next two babies we found.

Next two pics are Toast (gray fur) and Cinnamon (black fur). My dad found them at work left in a park in a carrier in over 90° weather. We totally said we were just going to spay/neuter and re-home them.... But they were the sweetest kittens we have ever met. Let us hold them from day 1, and Toast has always been the loudest purrer ever. We have an ongoing joke every time theyre being cute - "Doesn't it just make you want to leave them in a park?" Lol

Last two pics are Ducky. A little backstory is that a few weeks before she showed up, we had been given a very very young kitten that was sick and unfortunately didn't make it. One of my Dad's coworkers found her running around in a different park and she was left to run around in the break room all day. Nobody else wanted to take her so he brought her home. Apparently at the end of the day they found her sleeping on his seat. So adorable and super sweet, fit right in with everyone in the house. Left us with 9 cats at the time but we couldn't say no to her haha, especially after the heartbreak of the kitty before her. Right now she is the smartest cat we have ever had - gets right around every cat barrier and safe guard we have in the house LOL

Smol Delivery The Cat Distribution System found me at work 🧡

I went to work on Thursday not knowing I’d be bringing home the sweetest little boy.

He was panting underneath a running car in the parking lot, so I quickly ran over to tell the woman in the driver’s seat not to pull out of the space. When I walked around to the wheel he was sitting behind, he ran right up into my hands. Couldn’t believe it.

I brought him home, and afterward my brother told me about the Cat Distribution System. I guess this is what he meant.

He weighs a little over 600g, so we’re guessing he’s about 5 weeks old. He’s already settled in and seems to be very comfortable in his new home. 🧡

From sleeping in my bushes to permanent little spoon. When I found her she was underweight and had fleas. She has such a spunky spirit I was shocked to find she was 14!

I didn’t know anything about cats so I took a wild ride and assumed it was a boy and called them Brian. My surprise almost a year later when I found out he was a she. We’re too far down the road to change her name.

This Tortie brain cell enjoys making biscuits on my face at 3am, bringing me lizards, and crying for food when she’s already been fed twice that day.

Awarded a Cat Three cats came with my first home purchase

Thumbnail

Upvotes

I bought my first home from my neighbor who is an elderly woman. My brother and I were friendly with her because she gave our dogs treats on every walk. We got the deal done without realtors which was awesome, but she had one request from us: She asked if we could continue feeding the stray cats she was taking care of.

I’ve had dogs my whole life, but never lived with any cats since my sister is allergic. My brother and I fed the cats outside at first, but we’re such animal lovers it wasn’t enough. The bond we formed with these cats went beyond feeding them and giving them water. We took the plunge and brought in three of the cats we bonded with the most. It ended up being one of the best decisions of my life!

Meet Mama (fluffy tortie) Kit (younger tortie) and Blue! We got all the other outside cats we took care of fixed and adopted as well!

(The last 3 pics are when they were outside, so much healthier/happier now!)

EDIT:

Wow this blew up! Just wanted to give more info on each cat.

Mama was the first cat we brought in. She basically never was outside once we took her in because we already bonded with her from visits with our neighbor. Mama has the classic tortitude, but loves tummy rubs and is the softest animal I've ever felt. She is the most confident cat of the three when meeting new guests.

Kit (Mama's actual daughter!) was brought in probably 6 months later. She wouldn't even let us approach her outside, but then became very attached to my brother. When we brought her inside, she literally acted like she already lived there and there was zero hesitation from her. She is like a dog. Can pet her anywhere, and loves sleeping on my brother and I. She also loves her mama so much which is adorable. She's as chill as it gets, but shy of others at first. Kit is most attached to my brother (which I'm of course jealous of).

Blue was the last cat we brought in. We couldn't touch Blue for first couple months or so. We kept him and Orangey (pic in comments below) in our garage with AC for a while. Orangey we absolutely adored, but we got him adopted by another family (his alpha personality would've been tough with Mama & Kit). We weren't planning on keeping Blue, but he's super timid around other people so he was too difficult to get adopted. He loves us so much, and is less independent than the other two cats. He has a cute habit of rubbing his teeth/gums against my brother and I to mark us with his scent glands. He really wants us to be around him at all times, so would've been devastating to re-home him when he was that attached to us. We officially moved Blue out of the garage and into our home full time around 3 months ago or so.

In the end we got 6 cats adopted (one of them brought 3 kittens into our garage) not including the 3 we took in. It's something my brother and I are super proud of. We haven’t had any cats show up to our door since.

Thank you for the kind comments!

Awarded a Cat My family has been chosen! Meet Mochi.

Meet Mochi.

A 4 month old stray Tabby girl that my girls found while playing at a playground earlier today.

She had no collar, no microchip, and wasn’t spayed yet. Though that could be becuase she is still rather small.

Mochi is incredibly friendly and mischievous. She didn’t want to leave us and never fussed even when carried.
Took her to the vet and she was surprisingly healthy, with just an ear infection to deal with.

Loves climbing up and standing on my shoulder too.

She has adjusted to my home quite quickly but to be safe, we put out posters and Facebook notices in case she belongs to someone. But after a week, we will likely fully adopt her into our family.

Update: Just a quick update after the first night with Mochi.

She was surprisingly quiet and didn’t zoom around much.
She doesn’t like moving toys but she loves small toys that she can whack around like paper balls and small soft toys.
And for some reason she likes one of my daughter’s soft toy French fry (think of YouTube’s Kurt and Gary’s mr pickle). 😅

Rainy Day Kitties We weren't planning on getting another cat for a while...

Post image
Upvotes

Long story short, we found out my neighbor's cat was in our basement and it turns out he had no clue where she was and thought she'd run off. When I brought her back down to him he told me he was going to take her back to the rescue where he'd gotten her. I was a fool and offered to take her in to find her a place (partly because I thought it was kinda awful that he didn't even mention his cat was missing after we'd told him she could get into our basement). And now it's looking like she may potentially be staying... This all just happened in the last 3 hours but we're being cautiously optimistic. Working to schedule an appointment to check her health now.

Used the rainy day flair since I went to return her and ended up accidentally adopting her right as it started raining.

There's this cafe I frequent near my house.

Little Marco over here started showing up a few weeks ago, absolutely terrified of people; Just getting up from a chair near him would send him running away.

Still, I kept trying. Bribes may or may not have been offered a few days ago, and eventually he got curious (not enough to be touched though).

FFW to today, I sat at my usual spot, no sign of Marco anywhere... So I just started browsing on my phone, then suddenly I felt a thump on my lap... and THERE HE WAS; Hiding under the table waiting for me. After all that time being terrified of people, he found me.

Time for a new chapter I guess 🧡🧡🧡

Are you kitten me!! Kitten Distribution System strikes again!

Post image

This Tuxedo pretzel is a very eepy kitten.

My daughter was taking me to a doctor appointment on the 21st of August, when we stopped at a convenience store. She went into the store. I started hearing some LOUD meows. I got out of the car, and narrowed the location down to the passenger-side rear wheel well.

You guessed it! It took about 3 minutes for my daughter, Tina, to get the baby out.

Meet Altima.

She was about 7 or 8 weeks old...

The concerning thing? The store where we stopped is ~15 miles from my house, and over 20 from Tina's. We have no idea where/when the baby hitched a ride. I'm near the base of the Texas Panhandle, where we've been having 100°F + days...

I've fostered for many years, so I have all the necessary items to care for this latest delivery...

She got a bath (no fleas, surprisingly), and was set up under quarantine till yesterday. She's got a spay appointment in October, and I gave her her first kitten vac last night. I'm sure she has worms ( what kitten doesn't?).

She's really too young yet, to have any individual personality traits. However, she wants to suck on my earlobe. And purr...loudly. ..and DROOL.

Miss our amazing CDS kitten; Melty Chocolate River Rocks

Post image
Upvotes

Just a sob story.
We’ve never owned cats. Then one day 7 months ago, a cat kept wandering into our backyard and hung out with us and our kids a little bit longer each time. We fed her once…and the rest was history. She has been in our yard every day (except when she leaves and does her cat things in the neighborhood). My kids jointly named her Melty Chocolate River Rocks…and we stuck to it. 😂
She is the SWEETEST cat. She is 100% compliant with my kids picking her up, playing with her, and more. She LOVED sneaking in the house (my mom is very allergic, so we had to mainly keep her in our yard, but she definitely won several attempts to stay inside for a few hours 😂)
We left for a 4 day trip. We have had an automatic water and food feeder for her outside, amongst the other cat stuff we got her. When we got home, hardly any food was eaten. Our neighbor said they only saw her on day 1 of our trip. It’s been 24 hours since we got home, and not one sign of her. I’m hoping…she returns, and that nothing happened to her, or that someone else didn’t “capture” her. She was the best cat. Wish I would have kept a collar or chipped her, but…we went on one other 5 day trip 3 months ago, and she was there the evening we got home (we got home in the morning on that trip), but this time is longer.
I wonder if a collar would have made a difference. Sighs. I see the other neighborhood cats around randomly, but not her. I just always felt weird keeping a collar on an outdoor cat, not sure why. I regret it now, not that it may have made a difference.

My kids will be so sad.
No point to This post except we now understand how awesome the CDS is, and that we really miss our cat Melty Chocolate River Rocks. :(
I hope she is ok.

It would be the most ridiculously efficient and successful one ever. First of all, CDS has truly a truly global presence and delivers to anywhere. Beat that Amazon.

Its owner intel and targeting puts the CIA to shame. Somehow it just KNOWS who and where you are, whether you want a cat (or might not even know you wanted one) and finds just the right cat to send to you. They have a network of human agents around the world and they work for free.

Its marketing is insane. Social presence is huge. Global network of influencers. They have no advertising budget. 10/10 marketing ROI.

They’ve been doing this since cats were domesticated so they might just be the oldest company in the world at 10,000 years.

Cat tax and 3rd-9th CDS delivery. Mama Roxy living her best (spayed) life and the kittens are all in their forever homes. I was recruited to the CDS network and didn’t even know it. What a psyop.

I Didn’t Want a Cat…But Here We Are

First pic is the day my son found her under our car right before a hail storm was predicted to start. My two boys have been begging for a new pet (we lost our cat about 4 years ago and our dog 2 years ago). I was at work, and my husband is a soft touch, so he appealed to his dad and they brought her in and put her in the box with blanket and food.

They took her to our local vet. She weighed half a pound! No microchip. No one reported her missing. We kept checking lost pet sites and groups and nothing. No neighbors lost a pet, no missing cat signs.

Now she’s ours.

A little over a week later, little Luna is a hefty 2.5 pounds and loves to sleep on laps. She is very rambunctious and adventurous and I have no doubt will keep us on our toes.
