Do you have any recommendations for places to roller blade in or around Kittery, Maine? It looks like dedicated rinks are further away in New Hampshire, but if there are any good parks or places with flat ground, would love to know when I visit! Thanks y'all!

My wife and I (from RI) are looking to stay in ME for a few nights around Thanksgiving.

We are looking for areas to stay that would still have some things to do in the colder season. Mostly looking for restaurants, general store types of places, breweries, places you can create your own fun. We usually wind up staying in playing board games and such so we don’t need a ton to do, but we aren’t looking for a town with little to offer in the winter either.

I know. I know, I know, I know. It’s one of those situations where this is our only opportunity to see the park. Never been to Maine and who knows if we’ll ever be back. Had a window and jumped.

So here we are trying to make tomorrow as enjoyable as possible given the circumstances. We are staying in Harborside/Brooksville tonight.

My partner put together a list of trails on the southwestern side of the island (Wonderland, Ship Harbor, Seawall, Bass Harbor Lighthouse). Is that doable, or will we be caught up in the traffic heading to the popular spots? Should we abandon that idea and try the Schoodic Peninsula?

I'm a 53 year old man currently living in Orlando Florida. I'm a bus driver originally from Worcester Mass. I've seriously been thinking about moving to Bangor. I'm looking for a more relaxed small city environment. Bangor currently is looking for bus drivers so that's something I'm willing to pursue. Stephen King has absolutely nothing to do with me wanting to go to Bangor. I do know winters are brutal but the change of seasons makes it worth it. I'm just looking for a calm more community type feel. I have been to Bangor many times when I was a kid for family trips. Can anyone offer some advice or helpful tips? Thank you in advance

My spouse and I are making our first trip to Maine's midcoast in the first week of October. Below is the itinerary we've sketched out. What would you add or adjust? We are keeping things pretty loose so we can tailor our plans to whatever the weather brings day by day. Our top interests are lighthouses, coastal scenery, pretty harbor towns and easy walks/hikes.

A couple of notes: We do not plan to do Cadillac Mountain in Acadia, so no need for a reservation there. And we'll fit in a drive up Mt. Battie at some point.

I know both areas are going to be a bit different than each other. I am looking to move from Massachusetts to Maine. I have experience living in Vermont and way up North in New Hampshire. I just prefer to be close to the water.

I work in behavioral health / social services and I also love the outdoors, hiking, and farm work. I am finishing up my degrees now and I would like to move relatively soon. Massachusetts is way to expensive and the pay isnt that good either.

I looking for advice and information on both of the areas I mentioned. To also see if it is even reasonable to move to Maine.

So we went kayaking on the Androscoggin around Bethel this last August and saw a unique fish: it was small, maybe 3-4in, and would jump out of the water and skim across a bit, looking like a skipping stone, traveling a total of about 6-8ft. It happened a few times but because it was fast and unpredictable, we were unable to get it on camera. Anyone know what fish this was?

I am going on a road trip in a few days to Bangor, Portland, Camden, Bar Harbor. Are there any unsafe areas in these towns I should avoid and any towns between these that are unsafe?

My daughter, son in law, 7 month old grandchild and I will be in Saco sor a wedding at the end of September. My daughter and I have visited Maine before, and loved it, but SIL has not...and we have never stayed in this area. We live on a small island in Lake Michigan and SIL is an avid fisherman/hunter. We need recommendations for activities for the 2 days following the wedding, and do not wish to spend a lot of time driving. A lobster boat trip would be a plus, as SIL would love it...DD and I have enjoyed it before. As we live in a tourist area, we are familiar with the difference between authentic to the area activities and restaurants and those which cater specifically to tourists. We wish to eat, shop, and patronize businesses that support the local economy wherever possible. And...eat seafood for every meal. I dream about Maine shrimp and scallops...lobster, too, but alllll the rest. We know the blueberry season is done. So: what boat company should we use? I know we are limited with an infant...we are packing her life vest. What restaurants, bakeries, bookstores, local artisan shops, spots to explore tidepools, take walks, maybe spot an osprey, good local history museums, important buildings, etc should we know about? And....we are used to swimming in 60° water. What will the ocean temp likely be at the end of September? Thanks for any advice from our freshwater home!

Hi, Mainers. I’m visiting for the first time from hot, humid NC. I’ll be driving from Boston to Acadia and back down over the course of a week, starting tomorrow, September 5. (I know. Traffic is going to be awful. It is what it is.)

Everyone has told me to pack for multiple seasons so my bag is exploding. When it comes to layers, I have a windbreaker, an actual raincoat, a fleece, a light jacket, and a thick wool sweater. Bottoms range from long pants to shorts to leggings. Is the thick wool sweater overkill? I do get chilly, and I know the coast is colder.

Also, we’re doing a two-hour afternoon sail in the Portland area later in the week. I truly have no clue what to wear for that. SOS and thank you in advance for your insights!

I'll be travelling to Portland Maine in October for a week. It's 3 days for business and 3 days for leisure. I'm interested in going on some tours and also going to some breweries.

I'm looking at hotels but everything Waterfront is a little expensive. I need recommendations for hotels that are not so far away from the main attractions (maybe I can take a taxi or Uber).

Also, I don't know the city, so any advice on what is where would be helpful (or maybe some resources that I can find online).

For Reasons I will have to be in Wiscasset from 4-8pm on Friday. Is there anything interesting to do? It looks like a lot of places will be closed before 8. Should I go up to Damariscotta?
