Anyone else notice this, discovered the same issie, have any insight or contacted Magpul?

Should I go 6ARC or 5.56?

Wanting to build a 18" precision build for the MK12, will be upgrading the optic to an MPVO, just can't decide to go 6ARC route or 5.56. Any input who was in a similar position?

Which AR-15should I keep?

Post image
Upvotes

Unfortunately, I need to raise some cash and must dispose of one of my girls (monogomy is hard).

In the red corner, we have a BCM 11.5" 1/7 ELW barrel with a carbine length gas system on an Aero lower.

In the blue corner, we have an FDE Aero upper with a 12.5" 1/7 CHF barrel and mid length gas system on a Thunder Ranch FDE lower and no forward assist.

My use-case is 300 yards and in, being a SHTF, truck gun, packable (though I can break down both ARs and fit them in my 40L pack), critter getter, and general purpose rifle. Both are about 2 MOA rifles.

Why I want to keep the 11.5: BCM reliability, compact, and lightweight.

Why I want to keep the 12.5: Has ran flawless, still reasonably compact and lightweight (1 inch longer and 4 oz heavier than the BCM with a little extra capability with the 12.5 and being a CHF barrel.....granted the barrel specs probably not necessary. Also, I kind of like not having an F.A.....but one bad experience and that could change.

I'd be curious what the various opinions out there are. So, here's the thought experiment: My home is burning down and I have just enough time to grab my important documents, my animals, and ONE rifle. Which one would you grab?

Edit: Adding the "why" is also helpful, but still appreciating any good faith input.

Midwest Industries' New "Compliance Regulation Check" Fee

Upvotes

If you're one of those people who think, "It's only a dollar" best to stop reading. If you're someone who opposes things on principle; regardless of the nominal cost, read on.

So, just placed an order with MI (over the last 2 decades I've bought a lot of their parts, from small parts to rails, to stocks, muzzle devices, etc.) during their Labor Day sale.

Before I checked out, I noticed an extra line item, the $1 "Compliance Regulation Check". This $1 CRC isn't listed anywhere in their terms and conditions (I checked before placing the order).

I placed the order and noted it that I didn't consent to this fee nor did I find it in their T&C and wanted to know exactly what it was for.

Here is the response from Kelly at MI:

A more business savvy company would not have said they "upgraded" (really outsourcing) their ordering system by voluntarily sending their customer's location and parts order information to "Ebizio" (TBF, Ebizio...while not solely a firearms transaction company, is allegedly pro 2A) so someone else can do these regulation compliance checks for MI and would have simply raised their pricing accordingly to offset (not attempt to profit from) the extra business expense.

As for the cost of Ebizio's "service":

While I certainly am not privy to MI's agreement with Ebizio, if it's anywhere near the above pricing structure, $1 per order is just gouging the customer considering MI ships thousands of orders every month. If their internal shipping system is so antiquated that it can't determine which states are restricted and which aren't, they probably aren't keeping up with the cybersecurity either...but they are probably outsourcing all that as well.

Pmag gen 2 stuck in lower receiver.

Post image
Upvotes

Hey, got my first ar15 recently and took it to the range. It seems if I push the magpul magazine too hard into the rifle, the mag gets stuck and the bolt gets stuck back. Needed to get my range buddy to help me pull it out after it was stuck. I didn't think I pushed it in too hard, I basically did what was taught to me in the Air Force. Was this an issue with the magazine, the lower receiver, or are ar15s just a little more finicky with how much force you give it?

The image has the magazine pushed in. I removed the bottom spring to see if it was stuck on the magazine follower, but it was still jammed.

Send me your FDE BCM Raider Pics

Post image
Upvotes

I’m very curious what the FDE color looks like on a FDE raider handguard, I’ve tried seeing pics on google and I haven’t found a full rifle yet, I’m pretty sure it’s anodized like Geissele, so I’m just curious how that color comes out on y’all’s rifles because Geissele is known for having varying colors on their Anodization.
Edit- also I know there’s a pic of a fully built FDE raider from BCM but it’s actually a prototype 11 inch handguard that’s not in production.

Choosing an 11.5 upper

Pictures for reference. I am narrowing it down to these 2 11.5 uppers that I came across online. Geissele 11.5 and hodge 11.5. I'm wanting to run both unsuppressed/suppressed. My ammo choices are mainly wolf gold 55 gr and american eagle 62gr for range use. I already have an aimpoint comp m4s and an ambidextrous lower. Which would be the better upper in regards to durability, accuracy (and of course coolness lol)

Edit: I just realized the hodge picture shows a plok not a spinelock

Help with rusting

Upvotes

Hey guys, I’m new to ARs and live in Florida. I keep my AR in a closet inside the house, but I’m getting a light layer of rust every 2–3 days despite wiping it down with CLP.

Is there a better product for long-term rust prevention that I can use on things like the pins, trigger, and other exposed metal parts? I’m not looking for anything crazy expensive—just something that actually works well in Florida humidity. Thanks!
