A few club legends and then famous North Melbourne Legend Steele Sidebottom

u/Propaslander Collingwood 4h ago

Played his 300th game against North for all of 5 minutes before injuring his knee - but what a 5 minutes it was

Finally, someone has colorized all these black and white pictures of 1903 premiership player Steele Sidebottom

For a moment I thought Cunnington had come in from the wilderness ๐Ÿฅฒ

Sidebottom to rate every candidate on a scale of Clarkson to Fly.

Come on down Bucks

u/wizardofaus23 Swans 2h ago

I get it. Brings both an outside perspective and (even though he's retired) a player's perspective.

Watt, Viney, Swallow, Crocker, Dowling, Sidebottom, Oppenheim and Taft

This is the signal!

Deep cut

Of course, they managed my tattoo removal lawsuit. Imagine, spelling "mom" with two O's

u/Ezlos_Simulacrum 3h ago

What about the general manager of a baseball team?

u/GWShark131114 Sydney / Tasmania 3h ago

Having a recently retired player who knows the game right now is a great choice. Would know whatโ€™s working and can advise the panel from there

u/Maximumlnsanity Swans 3h ago

Recently retired, played forever, had a leadership role as a player, and won premierships under old school Malthouse and new school McRae. Basically the perfect choice to help choose a head coach

Genuinely made me lol when I saw his name, good to see he's hustling already.

u/Hlmynameisr0d North Melbourne 4h ago

Surely they have identified they want a tactically very good coach. Steele would have a good ability to identify another craig mcrae type i would say.

North Melbourne Legend Steele Sidebottom

The same one who kicked the sealer in 2023.

Nice to see Sidey keeping busy in retirement

Not suggesting they should poach from their W team, but why hasn't Crocker been put forward as a possible men's coach?

u/23DeAbril Kangaroos 3h ago

Apparently very happy doing what he is doing. But I agree with your point re him being considered.

u/TheCurbAU Freo 3h ago

If I were North, I'd be beyond happy with what he's doing. He's coaching a rare, once in a lifetime run of a team. Impressive stuff.

Crocks is building a dynasty

u/StockholmSyndrome85 Eagles 3h ago

Could argue it's already built

u/Majestic_Fix2622 3h ago

Crocks is bulding a 100 year empire

u/kittychicken North Melbourne Kangaroos 2h ago

No, a proper dynasty

u/dlanod Brisbane Lions 2h ago

Because he doesn't want a demotion?

Darren Crocker has already coached their men's team

u/FenerBoarOfWar Hawthorn 4h ago

Time for Hirdy to shine.

A missed opportunity to have Clarkson on the panel also.

Why not give Crocker a shot at the job. He has done an amazing job with the women

u/Hlmynameisr0d North Melbourne 3h ago

Has said the womens team has turned into his dream job. Dont think he will be giving it up any time soon. Would love to see kearns takeover from him one day.

u/Dangerous_Link3421 Kangaroos 3h ago

Why would you leave a dynasty to coach a basket case?

u/kittychicken North Melbourne Kangaroos 3h ago

And hopefully will continue to fill our cabinet with more silverware

u/itchy_sanchez Kangaroos 2h ago

He was an assistant under Brad Scott. He was also interim coach for a bit and iirc he wanted the senior coaches job. But he was always overlooked. North had their chance and now the women's side is absolutely killing it.

u/JorReno Tasmania 1h ago

Sidebottom being there is like that simpsons meme 'who is that?'

u/canary_kirby Carlton Blues 3h ago

Sidebottom? Really?

u/MYF4IRBRADY Eagles 3h ago

How many more jobs will he need to apply for to get his Jobseeker?
