TIL Libba was not only an outstanding player but has developed into an outstanding human
Was discussing his retirement with workmates and someone pointed me towards this article from last year which was a lot of new information for me. A lot of us remember the loose unit Libba from early in his career and how he's become a bit of an fan favourite enigma in the league. But I had no idea how committed he is to his community.
Fantastic bloke. I know a lot of players are doing good stuff out there too, but this is a commitment across his entire career and likely beyond it sounds like.

⠀ [Clark] Media banned from international sports concussion conference. All the big dogs are here (AFL & NFL), discussing the latest science and research etc. But we aren’t allowed in. Transparency? Accountability? Or more cover-ups? It’s laughable.

⠀ Misogyny against female commentators
I'm asking everyone to please call out and stand up against misogynistic comments against female commentators and reporters. You can not like them, you can think they have a vendetta against your club, and you can think that it's unfairly biased, but I implore you to please not use hurtful and misogynistic commentary when information or reports are distributed by a female columnist, journalist or commentator. Please help me in calling it out across all AFL subs

The AFL want to increase the season to 24 games, reduce the length of games, but make fans pay the same price for admission
Reading between the lines.
One of the greediest corporations in Australia isn't going to be reducing the length of games if it means they lose money.
They will be relying on people paying the same price for admission, for 3 quarters of football like was the case during the 2020 season

Degenerative brain disease found in 31 [of 51] former rugby league players
From the world of rugby league obviously, but we’re kidding ourselves if we think the story won’t be the same when they study our game in the same way. Pretty concerning stuff tbh.

"No one [at Geelong] will answer the question from Kolodjashnij and his management why he's not playing now when he was allowed to play before. You can only assume it's because the story became public." - Caroline WIlson
