There's a whole story behind this. The puppet is ad libbing, repeating a bit from a news story where criminals were talking to the cops: "we're just innocent men." Basically it's an inside joke between the people on the show.

Oh, that makes it ten times better. When i first saw this clip, I just thought it was a funny one-off. But now, knowing that he was going for a call-back to a previous bit...that bait with the 'we're just normal men', you can tell by the first break that she knows where this is going...and she MUST follow through. They both pay the price and we reap the rewards.

It’s based off an inside joke the staff had with the crew. Someone had told some stupid thing earlier about being interviewed by police and was trying to talk his way out of trouble by stating those lines.

Phil Fletcher (voice of Hacker T Dog, the puppet) thought this was hilarious and somehow ad-libbed it into follow-up to a video about ice dancers saying “We’re not ice dancers, we’re just normal men…we’re just innocent men” in an apparent deadpan impression from the story. Lauren Layfield (his co-host) immediately snorted and completely broke down causing Phil to ,of course, start having to stifle his own laughter under the camera, and becoming this meme.

Fletcher was notorious for being one of the best adlibbers on the show and constantly breaking up his co-hosts with this sort of goofiness.

You see i knew there was a real answer to this. I had an argument with someone about this clip and I just questioned what was supposed to be funny and the other commenter was insisting that it was because it was ridiculous for a puppet to call himself a man and that made them break. Which is funny sure but not break character snorting funny. Thanks for the back story

This is one of those clips that just gets funnier and funnier the more you watch it and I don’t know why. I think it’s the sincerity when he says “just innocent men” is so incongruous with the setting and then the music comes in. I’m literally crying laughing at this stage
