๐Ÿ’พ Software & Websites Made a train-tracking app (Flighty-style)

I've been using Flighty (app for tracking flights im taking and such) for a while now and absolutely love it. I really like how it makes something fairly boring into a really nice experience, and it got me thinking that there should be something similar for trains or at least better than whats currently available

So l've started building Trackside. The idea is to have live train tracking, delays, platforms, journey details and history, but with some of the fun stuff too like keeping track of the trains you've travelled on and collecting all of the trains or smth like that hahah

It's still very early and mostly a test project at the moment, but I've put together a website with some screenshots of what I've got so far:

https://trackside-waitlist.vercel.app

If it sounds interesting, there's a waitlist on the site, just to gauge interest

P.S - currently only can track UK trains but might add support for other countries if enough people ask for it :)

V12 does a good job covering all sorts of presidential locomotives and the future of the railroad.

He emphasizes that politics is not the focus, but to hear the story of 4547 is fun and embraces the reason we enjoy the railroad as a whole

๐ŸŽจ OC - Art Iron Range Yellowstone hauling an Iron Ore train, 1950.

A DMIR class M4 โ€œYellowstoneโ€, is depicted pulling a train of Iron Ore and along side is a road. The two cars along side the giant engine are both 1949 model year cars with the car to the left being a 1949 Chevrolet Fleetline and the car on the right being a 1949 Lincoln Cosmopolitan. As whatโ€™s said in the post title, the image takes place during 1950 so itโ€™s within the time frame the Yellowstones were in service. I like Yellowstone locos. They are big and powerful and you know American loves big and powerful things just look at the cars we by and the cars our automakers make. Yellowstone locomotives truly represent Americaโ€™s personality in my opinion.

๐Ÿ“น OC - Video The Former High Orchard Branch Line to Gloucester Docks | Part One of Three

Upvotes

In this part, I delved into the history of the High Orchard Branch Line, which ran from Gloucester Railway Station to Gloucester Docks during the 19th and the first half of the 20th centuries. The purpose of this was primarily to serve the warehouses, which manufactured goods at the time. Although this branch line no longer exists, you can still see remnants of it littered around the city today.

โ“ Question Colour of working Light for the UP844

Thumbnail
gallery
Upvotes

Hey guys I am trying to model the UP844 "Living Legend" and I looked through some videos and pictures, but couldn't find an answer to what colour these working Lights are supost to look like (side ones, under cab and over valve gear and wheels), a more orange coule, o cold white maybe (the same as the front lights?).

As well as the back lights for the Tender. Obviously the top red light is always on, when it moves foward, the middle one should be when it's in return, but what about the other lights?

I appreciate your input!

PS.: the photos are not mine!
