Friendship 26F | Looking for fellow writers and creatives.

Upvotes

Hi! I’m looking to meet some creatives around my age (24+) who enjoy writing, any and all forms!

I’ve always loved writing (mostly poetry), whether it’s actually working on something or just jotting down ideas, observations, little pieces of dialogue, or whatever happens to be in my head. I also love reading, and I’m especially drawn to stories with interesting characters, psychological elements, historical settings, and a little bit of weirdness.

I’d to love exchange recommendations, talk about creative projects, and share things we’re working on.

I can be a little reserved while I’m getting comfortable with someone, but I genuinely enjoy honest and engaging conversation :)

If you enjoy writing, and think we might get along, feel free to introduce yourself. Tell me what you like to write or what you’ve been reading lately!

Project Partner ISO a writing buddy(s)

Upvotes

Hey guys! I’m 24F in the outlining stages of my fantasy novel and I’d love another person to swap work with weekly or biweekly to give eachother feedback and help with accountability!

Someone in their 20s also in the outlining stages of a fantasy/scifi would be ideal for me to work with but not super strict on it.

I’m a new writer but a long time reader. Pls reach out if interested! ;)

Project Partner Searching for a Co-writer

Upvotes

I'm inspired by stories from the Star Wars: From a Certain Point of View about A New Hope. I wanted to focus on the Imperials, specifically Stormtroopers and officers. I don't know if anyone would be up for this task, but I want to go around with ideas. There is a story I loved from that book titled "The Sith of Datawork." That character Arvira is fascinating to me.

Advice request I've never had a writing buddy, how are you guys finding them?!

Upvotes

ONLY times I've ever had a group of writers to share with was when I was taking actual writing classes. But the problem for me was that they would always give standardized formulaic advice, and it did nothing to improve my writing expression.

How do you find individuals whose judgement you actually trust in *seriously* critiquing your work??

Friendship I want to belong!

Upvotes

Hello to all! My name is Rick. I'm 36 years old. Born and raised in Portugal. I'm just finding my love for writing which I never knew I had before. I've started writing my first fantasy novel, "The Seven Jewels of Virtue". It's a work in which I'm pouring my soul in. I'm new in the writing communities and I'm finding it very hard to really connect with anybody. I'm friendly and passionate about what I do when I do it. I won't start dumping my novel in here in hopes someone wants to read it. But if we can discuss ideias together our projects may flourish. I'm a beginner and I like to learn. If anyone is interested just DM me and we can discuss our projects. Please don't DM me for paid beta reading and services it's still too early for me and I don't have money available.

Discussion Anyone else writing webnovels?😭

Upvotes

Im 16 and have been around webnovels and tired of seeing so much reincarnation and system stories that arent interesting.

I myself been writing a system less webnovel that I put a lot of thought into (royal road), and I've been trying to find stories that aren't the generic stuff you see on the front page. I wanna read stuff with substance and find authors like me too😭✌️

Discussion I am trying to make writing feel less isolated

Upvotes

In that regard, I am building a short story community at https://www.writewithme.app.

Basically, we often want to talk about our on-going projects, just invite someone in the thick of it, show them the drafts, the notes, the progress. Like bringing in a creative friend to exchange ideas with, or beta readers, right? I want a platform where you can form friendships through each others' projects. Like a platform where writing and companionship features are consolidated together in one place. Am I on the right track?

Question Writers...who of you is successful in your own eyes??

Upvotes

I don't mean successful by anyone _else's_ standards of mainstream publication, or accolades or whatever society tells us is an "acceptable" type of success...

I mean: who of you is happy with their life, expressing themselves through writing?

And also making a living that makes you happy from it?

Who of you have "made it" in your own estimation? (and also don't hate the art itself because you had to monetize it to live and survive)

And most importantly, I'm wondering:

HOW much of your life and work is done on *your* terms, to a degree that you never thought was possible before you accomplished it?

I want to believe it's all truly possible. And I would love to make writer friends to share these experiences with!

Ever played this writing game?

Upvotes

You write a paragraph or a few minutes of writing. Then after time is up, you trade papers to a partner and he/she reads it. Then your partner continues the story to the best of their ability.

Project Partner Writing collaboration??

Upvotes

I'm trying to get back into writing and well usually I always just write by myself but I kinda want to go more with others, so if anyone wants to talk with me and try and find a story or concept or something we both connect with that'd be amazing!! It'd also be amazing if you already have an idea even one you think can't work or have tried before or something idc let's talk about it and try and see if we can make it work and then hey if we can make it come to life that'd be awesome! But yeah I think I could probably do sorta any genre I just need to connect with the story and such. So please if you are interested dm or comment to see if we can try and make a script together.

Other Venting out

Upvotes

I have so many stories and ideas inside my head. I genuinely want to share them with the world. I want to tell my stories. In my head, they feel so clear—I can see the scenes, the characters, the locations, almost like a film playing in my mind.

But I have absolutely no idea how to find readers.

I posted my first story on Reddit. People actually read it, I got around 10–12 upvotes, and surprisingly, it got around 47 shares. That gave me a lot of motivation because at least some strangers had actually connected with something I wrote.

But now I'm struggling with the next step: how do I get meaningful feedback on my stories and ideas?

I recently formatted one of my stories properly and published it on KDP. I thought maybe Kindle readers would be more serious readers, so I decided to experiment with short stories at ₹49. My idea is to write tight, cinematic stories something where you can visualize the scenes while reading and almost feel like you're watching a movie unfold in your head. And then venture in anthologies and novels.

Ten days later: no readers.

And to make it worse, someone apparently spammed a one-star rating on the Hindi version without even reading the story.

I'm not angry about the one-star rating as much as I'm confused by the whole situation.

I have all these ideas in my head. I want to turn them into stories. I want people to read them. I want someone to tell me, "This worked," or "This part didn't work," or even "I hated this character." Anything. I just want some indication that the stories reached another human being.

Right now I don't really know what I'm supposed to do with all these ideas.

I don't necessarily want to make money from writing. I just genuinely want to tell the stories that are inside my head.

So, writers and readers, how did you find your first real readers? How do you get people to actually read your work and give you honest feedback?

I'm not looking for promotion. I'm genuinely trying to figure this out.

Question Created a free writing contest.

Upvotes

We are doing a short story writing contest. It's free to enter, it's judged by professional, and has a cash prize of $300. The question is, should I purchase ad space on Reddit to promote it? I don't have a lot of extra capital, the venture isn't generating significant revenue at the moment (not really the point at the moment, but definitely in the future it would need to make more (it is a business)). This is the third contest and the first two, while I advertised on FB, only had a dozen or so takers.

Creativist connects the people behind every book to bring great ideas to life. I, with a couple others, made a free app, Creativist for Google Play and Apple Store. It's purpose is to connect writers and artist (illustrators/designers) kinda like an Upwork (payments etc. happen off Creativist, though), but we have plans for future differentiation.

We are building a community grounded in collaboration, fairness, and shared success. I am passionate about my tribe of creative people. I spent almost a decade in corporate America as a full-time, creative professional. I have seen first hand what we can create when working collaboratively, and I also see all these AMAZINGLY talented geniuses (Stan Lee, what happened when PIXAR got bought out) get taken advantage of by a corporate, capital business structure that is not owned by the creatives in which they make billions of dollars. The dream and vision is to build something different. To make sure the rungs in the middle of the ladder do not get removed so to speak.
