Official WHOOP Posts Coming Next: A More Personal Journal, a New Community, and Smarter Training Tools

We wanted to give the WHOOP community an early preview of what’s coming next. Over the next few months, we’re rolling out new ways to personalize how you use WHOOP, connect with your community, and get even more out of your data.

Here’s a look at what’s ahead 👇

Custom Journal Behaviors and Easier Daily Logging

September/October

Journal will gain new ways to track the behaviors that matter to you and log them with less manual work.

  • Custom Journal Behaviors: Create your own Journal behaviors for anything you want to track, such as a no-phone morning, a high-stress commute, or trying a new supplement. Log them daily and see how each one impacts your Recovery over time.
  • A Unified Daily Experience: WHOOP will bring your Journal, Daily Outlook, Check-ins, and Day in Review into one flow. Start by completing your Journal and reviewing insights, check in as your day unfolds, and wrap up with a guided evening reflection.
  • Talk and Text to Journal: Log your Journal by speaking or typing naturally — just tell WHOOP what you did, and it'll identify the behaviors and log them for you. No need to check off each one manually.

Improved Community

November

WHOOP will make it easier to stay connected with the people who matter to you, support one another, and remember the moments behind your data.

  • Follow friends and family: Connect directly without creating a team, then quickly view the Sleep, Recovery, Strain, and activities they choose to share. Connections from small teams that you or your friend created will carry over automatically.
  • Encourage each other: React to and comment on shared updates to celebrate a strong day, recognize progress, or offer a little motivation when it is needed.
  • Capture Moments: Add a photo and note to an activity to preserve the story behind it. Moments will be saved to your profile and can appear for the people who follow you, making memorable races, trips, milestones, and everyday wins easier to revisit and share.

Improved Track Activity

November

WHOOP is rebuilding the experience for tracking an activity so the information you need is easier to see while you train.

  • Get personalized activity targets: Start activities with dynamic recommendations based on your goals and recent data, and easily adjust them to set your own.
  • Follow your progress live: A fully revamped live view makes it easier to understand your workout as it unfolds, with clear progress toward your targets, heart rate zone accumulation, live activity metrics, and improved map controls.
  • Pause and resume: Pause and resume an activity so WHOOP can distinguish active time from elapsed time.
  • Review your splits and performance: See your splits, target performance, Moving Time, and updated key stats in an expanded Activity Details experience.

One Rep Max

November

WHOOP will make it easier to understand your strength without requiring you to perform a maximal lift.

Track your strength over time: When you log supported weighted exercises in Strength Trainer, WHOOP will automatically estimate your one-rep max so you can see how your strength is changing over time without testing a maximal lift. You’ll also be able to understand the intensity of each set relative to your current strength.

What features are you most excited about? We want to hear from you!

Being able to directly follow friends and family is huge. I’ve been wanting that for a while.

I’m excited to see the improved activity tracking and 1rm estimates!

u/SlurpBucketBoys 4d ago

Can't wait to shame my dad in the family group chat for skipping the gym. You thought I was annoying before? Just wait.

We're excited to roll these out! Keep us updated on what you think of them :)

How to get into the beta program?

u/eight_bitpixels 5d ago

Same. I’ve been using strava for the community and encouragement kick. So it’ll be great to have all in one app.

u/crunchynuts1 3d ago

Kind of hilarious that someone downvoted this

u/octbow 5d ago

I hope the team has considered making the strength trainer more like a traditional weightlifting tracker.

  • The 1RM update is a great start, but it’s also critical to see things like your most recent set vs. the set you’re about to attempt.
  • It would also be nice to have a haptic option for the rest timer, or to integrate the rest countdown with the logging screen (versus swiping back and forth).
  • The process of updating sets/reps while in a workout isn’t very smooth. This is fine if you never try to lift more than a predetermined set of weight/reps, but I don’t know why anyone would do that. The goal is to lift more on day 2 than day 1!

Hey! Love this feedback, thanks for sharing. We've relayed it back to our team!

u/crypto_ruined_me 4d ago

Just adding to it, I've been strength training for over 20 years and I recommend looking at the app Hevy and adopting some of the ways for setting up routines and logging weights from it. Currently I've written my own app that is based around Hevy with a few minor modifications to support AI logging and then an option to copy the workout and paste it into Whoop to get accurate data in.

u/pradyotghate 3d ago

This! Hevy is so good, I wish Whoop had a similar interface that is easy to use and comprehensive

u/golfclubkiller4 4d ago

is there a rest timer?! like something beyond just the rest time going up over time.. it would be awesome if it could vibrate or something at a set time

u/Tropictroll 5d ago

It amazes me that the whoop app still does not have a dedicated food logging journal and relies on outside app inputs from and akin to Cronometer, my fitness pal, etc etc.

for a paid subscription as high as $300+ per year, I really wish whoop would build out their own in house full fledged food journal that the AI coach could reliably pull from. Ever since I got a whoop the coach can only pull data from outside food logging apps less than 50% of the time. What’s the point in connecting these apps and tracking everything when whoop can’t even use the data reliably? I feel like having a dedicated food journal that lived inside the whoop app and subscription would give a substantial value add to the cost of the subscription.

They are testing the waters on it, I had a survey sent to me about food logging and tracking. It’s a pain to use MyFitnessPal and whoop to have them synced and whoop not really understanding my macros and calorie intake

u/closougroT71 4d ago

agreed, if theyre going to lean into the AI coach they need reliable nutrition data to back it up

u/whoop_official Verified WHOOP Account 4d ago

Hey! We hear you on the food + nutrition tracking capabilities. We've shared your feedback with our Product team for consideration in the future!

u/brutal_youth_ 4d ago

From the other side -- I actively don't want food tracking, so if you ever add related features, I hope you keep them optional and don't push users to enable them. I dabbled in disordered eating in the past, and tracking my intake rigidly isn't something I'm interested in these days. I use my Whoop for fitness and recovery, and want to leave my eating out of it.

u/micmahsi 3d ago

Can you ask the product team to consider adding the ability to have weekly goals that include a certain # of days with strain > X? If this isn’t possible, a goal for average/cumulative weekly strain could serve the same purpose. An idea for the backlog at least!

u/larpano 4d ago

I don’t. I’m fine using Cronometer if I need to track. It bothers me way more that I can’t use external hrm for activity heart rate . That should be a piece of cake to integrate

u/Dusty_Chum 4d ago

Agree, it would be great to consolidate my apps (currently use MacroFactor for food tracking). Only big concern would be how they measure TDEE and macro targets. If they decided to run with the WHOOP’s estimated calories, the food logging would be worthless. They need an actual adaptive TDEE algorithm based on intake and weigh-ins, like Macro Factor.

u/Repulsive_Trust5895 4d ago

It’s not their core competency, like strength training. Better to integrate with best in class apps. I use MacroFactor for food logging; whoop will never come close.

u/Youngish_Jedi 4d ago

Totally agree. Focus on improving the core competencies and pull in date from the ones best at the other areas. They’ll never build a good database like the big players so it’s not really worth it

u/DawgPack44 1% Club Champion 4d ago

No, they’re doing it right. I would much rather have this outside Whoop. Dedicated apps like MyFitnessPal, Cronometer, etc., do a much better job (and always will) in this area because it’s their primary focus. Whoop will never be able to match the comprehensive feature set of those apps, and carpeting to will lead to feature creep. Log elsewhere, have it all sync to Apple Health or Google Health, and then it will input into Whoop. Whoop can then run their own analysis or use AI to provide coaching, but I absolutely don’t want food logging natively in Whoop

u/Rtzon 4d ago

Whoop + Zolt for food logging / adaptive TDEE is perfect for me. That’s my stack and I prefer using a dedicated nutrition app that does it well. Let whoop do its own thing well

u/Heysteeevo 5d ago

Would be nice to have an actual coach who can give you workout plans and adapt them as you go given the strain and recovery stats. Today most of the AI coach is just repeating a lot of the same loops which is mainly reading the stats off

u/PlentyNearby7443 4d ago

For the price, it should be a human, like the Future training app.

u/dexX7 5d ago

We already have an integration with the weight scale of Withings. Would love to see blood pressure syced, too!

u/Bright_Magazine_8136 5d ago

More improvements for Strength Trainer is very welcome. While it’s okay today, it could be better! The 1RM is a great start.

u/entity_response 5d ago

Real customer service is all I want, it’s good sometime and literally non existent other times (returns, battery issues). The EKG and BP monitor were such a waste of money I wish I could get a discounted deal to downgrade vs me switching to garmin, which I’m evaluating now.

u/Green-Agent9714 5d ago

Fix the step counting? Given how big you’ve placed into your Whoop age it should be a priority to get it right.

u/Jensway 4d ago

Or give us the option to disable it from contributing to whoop age at all.

It’s a disaster for us bicep band users.

u/Sullybob 3d ago

Or give me the option to manually enter my step count from a device that is accurate or have Whoop pull data from google health.

u/Jensway 3d ago

Yes 1000% agreed.

u/Sotelo_gz 4d ago

Oh my god, thank you!!!🙏🏼

u/crypto_ruined_me 4d ago

Please fix step tracking. Either just read directly from Apple Health or from Apple Health workouts that contain step information. For under-desk treadmill users, WHOOP is very innacurrate when it comes to step calculation. This is understandable as it's meant to be one on the rest and the rest are not really moving. Wearing it on the ankle helps but then the heart rate readings are massively inaccurate.

u/Major-City-7046 5d ago

I’ve been really looking forward to having a proper way to track nutrition, similar to what my friends already use with Fitbit Air and Bevel. It would be incredibly convenient to simply take photos of everything I eat, automatically log the meals, and get a nutrition score.
Nutrition has a major impact on health, recovery, sleep, and athletic performance, so it feels strange that WHOOP still does not meaningfully account for it. Many competitors have offered easy food tracking for a long time, and it’s definitely time for WHOOP to add this feature.

u/whoop_official Verified WHOOP Account 4d ago

Hey! We really appreciate your feedback on implementing nutrition tracking and have shared your thoughts + ideas with the team :)

u/B1GAAPL 4d ago

I second this about a full nutritional tracking feature within the app. In many ways whoop has become one of those companies that took the lead & sat back on their laurels as others started to catch up. Nutrition is such a big part of training & recovery that this feature should have been introduced years ago. Instead they want to sell overpriced bands.

u/crunchynuts1 4d ago

Would you actually log your meals every day? It’s a feature people want but won’t use. That’s been the issue with every meal tracking product. Extremely weak retention.

u/B1GAAPL 4d ago

I do it on Garmin

u/Dusty_Chum 4d ago

It’s good if it works. I’ve been using Macro Factor for over a year and a half. I don’t log every day, but multiple days a week. It’s gotten me the results I wanted.

u/larpano 4d ago

Honestly it’s a terrible idea to log every day

u/McR4wr LIFE | Membership 4d ago

Does that mean I don't have to log random behaviours under Whoop's blue-light glasses anymore?! Really?!

u/Fun_Plate_5086 5d ago

Would like to see Whoop have the ability to read steps from Apple Health and not just write. Got a stroller to push on walks constantly and it tracks the stress of the walk but it doesn’t count steps due to no arm swing. But my iPhone tracks it fine in my pocket. So it’s missing several thousand steps daily.

u/Saik7868 4d ago

I love that we’ll be able to see heart rate zone accumulation while an exercise/activity is taking place. Also like the customized journaling.

u/Beitelensteijn 4d ago

1rm is really nice. More improvements on strength trainer would be great. Basically just copy Hevy

u/vdzla Bicep Band 4d ago

just let me put multiple alarms please

u/Lobwedgephil 4d ago

Certainly seems like some decent additions, hopefully soon.

u/PlentyNearby7443 4d ago

Would be huge if you could mirror the activity screen from the app on a watch face. I don’t want my phone in my hand or open during most workouts.

u/Full_Advertising_924 4d ago

I bought a WHOOP 5.0 with a prepaid 12-month Peak Membership directly from WHOOP.
On my first login, the app did not recognize my membership and instead offered a one-month trial followed by another $239 charge. I logged out to try again, but now the app only shows “ERROR / RETRY / CLOSE,” so I cannot even access it.
I tried reinstalling the app, resetting my password, restarting my iPhone, and changing networks.
WHOOP Support verified that my order includes the 12-month membership and that my emails match, but confirmed that no membership is linked to my account. I sent all requested documents and followed up by email, but I still have no correction or further response.
Has anyone had this issue fixed?

u/buttercoffeeam LIFE | Membership 3d ago

Huge. Put me in early beta on these.

u/GirthBrooks216 2d ago

Can we get an improvement on the slider bar for entering times in the journal? That one gets frustrating when it will only let me select 9 or 10 am and skips over 930 lol.

u/Savings-Paramedic-76 LIFE | Membership 4h ago

u/whoop_official The roadmap looks genuinely exciting — especially the Talk and Text to Journal and the automated One Rep Max estimations!

As a heavy daily user who manages a lot of custom habits and Strength Trainer routines, the biggest daily friction right now is still the number of taps needed for simple things. Two quick wins that would make a huge difference while waiting for the bigger updates:
• One-tap logging for vitamins/supplements
• One-tap water/fluid intake

Looking further ahead, what would truly unlock the power-user experience is a proper desktop web dashboard. Being able to build Strength Trainer templates with drag-and-drop, bulk-edit past workouts, set up multi-day progressive overload rotations, and configure detailed supplement dosages (with exact amounts) on a big screen would be a game-changer. API/webhook access for the Journal would also be incredible for those of us who want to automate more.

Really looking forward to the upcoming releases and would love to see some of these power-user tools considered for the roadmap!

u/Suspicious-Wheel5550 5d ago

hey whoop support, i haven't been able to access my whoop account for over the last 3 days. whenever I try to login, it asks me to create a new account. my account already had 10 months of subscription left and this is just incredibly frustrating and dissapointing. The customer support says that they cant find any details of my account in their system. Can you please look into the concern?

u/climbing2man Whoop Coach 3d ago

See what happens when you login on a computer browser.

u/Suspicious-Wheel5550 3d ago

i tried that but it just asks me to create a new account, theres something weird that happened to my account. i even tried calling their support multiple times but they say they cant find any account under my email address but they are able to retrieve an account with my username. they also me that all the other details associated with that specific account doesnt match with mine. whats funnier here is that the username is "n3han" and if i replace 3 with e, thats my name - even after i explained them all that - they are still not convinced its my account. what likley happened here is that someone hacked into my account and changed all the credentials but they werent able to change username as that requires customer support intervention.
