This last year was the first real time I'd seen snow that mattered since I was a kid, and I actually burned the skin off my foot recently by stepping outside barefoot for just a moment not realizing that in August we still were hitting upper 90s. I feel like winter is the only time of year its really "comfortable" outside anymore.

Same here, there are some days that it'll be cooler but fuck this summer has been killing me, I remember I could just walk in a shirt and not have to worry about somehow literally DYING from the fucking heat. Just give me 78-80F and I'll live I swear.

Depending on the local environment bug populations have dropped between 40% - 80% within the past 3 decades. Global wildlife populations have dropped by 73% since 1970.
We are living in an era of wildlife scarcity. The last time Earth experienced such a massive and rapid decline in animal populations was during the extinction event that killed the dinosaurs.

The big bumblebees in my garden have straight up stopped foraging during the heat of the day. They sleep in the flowers in the afternoon and only fly around in the morning and evening when it isn't as hot.

The issue with the renewable energy often used is that the efficiency it provides it's surpassed multiple times over by the use of oil and coal power (yes, we still use coal power, just on a lesser amount). Nuclear would easily surpass all the other power production methods, except oil companies lobby to not allow nuclear at all since that causes a massive deficit in their wallets. For context of just how potent nuclear is, California (most populated state in the US) has only one commercial nuclear power plant (2 reactors). In 2025, that single power plant handled 5.9% of the TOTAL energy production in California, the majority being gas, solar, and imported power. The fact that the single nuclear plant could power essentially 6% of the whole power grid for roughly 40 million people is wild. Again. One power plant, two reactors, neither being at peak production output, managed to handle such a large portion of the power is crazy. And multiple oil companies have been trying to get the plant shut down, only unofficially. California's power grid is managed by PG&E, PG&E owns the Diablo County Nuclear Power Plant. PG&E keeps trying to have it shut down, but for a gas and electric company, getting to use the power for a plant they hardly need to pay for since the plant is managed by the government sounds like such a great thing. However, PG&E is openly being invested in by multiple oil companies, specifically ExxonMobil and Chevron being the most prominent investors, with their CEOs being openly anti-nuclear.
For everyone reading, if theres a vote to keep a nuclear power plant open of to have one built, vote in favor of it, the only emissions they produce are the waste (which is now being used as recycled fuel, so even the byproducts have uses), and steam. Which gets pumped into the air and enters the water cycle.

It's hard to take the rest of your statement seriously when the first thing you say is a mischaracterization. Coal's thermal efficiency in a vacuum is higher than solar's, but when you factor in the costs of power generation year-over-year, the fact that you are necessarily burning 50% of the product, the costs of transport, and the costs of maintenance, coal is objectively the most expensive and inefficient source of power generation we have access to cost-wise, which is why we indirectly waste billions of dollars per year helping keep those plants running and dealing with the fallout of their common failure points across the production chain. The "baseload" discussion doesn't hold much water for me when the largest producers of emissions and inefficient thermal energy expenditure aren't even hitting renewable generation for baseload to be a point of discussion.

As someone that actually lives within range of the two only successfully built Generation III reactors in the United States, suggesting people vote for this without actually doing their own research is incredibly irresponsible. The government will not foot the bill for these reactors, which led Georgia Power and and other shareholders of the Vogtle plants to inflict 10$+ surcharges on Southwest Georgia residents for its construction, on top of lobbying the state government for rate hikes that have resulted in a roughly 7-10% increase in my power bill year-over-year, which was only allowed so that Georgia Power could "recoup the Capital investiture" incurred by construction and future maintenance of the plant. The only way to pay for these things is to have the government foot the bill themselves, or way more likely, raise the costs of power to exorbitant rates that result in rural communities footing 300-400$ electric bills because otherwise they'll die in the middle of Summer.
Edit: In fact, they actually just struck a deal with the Georgia Public Services Commission to cut rates because of the exorbitant costs that have been levied against the residents of this state. Take that into consideration before you advocate wholesale for nuclear -- YOU will be footing the bill for that reactor yourself. The government will not be helping you, and you will probably pay more for the same power for the rest of your life because of it. This is a kids show so you have saturday morning kid anime budget in 2003. My favorite joke is that to make this a magical girl show, Dejiko has this pouch that contains "Dejiko's 7 princess tools" There's only 2 and all of them show up in the first episode and barely used the entire show
They tried to do something last year iirc with Reiwa stuff but you can feel the lack of budget on that one
