"I wish I was asian" mfs when they actually do get reincarnated as a Japanese girl and have to deal with the crushing pressure of the education system, sexual harassment, and the insane work culture rather than live out like a cutesy anime:

u/Mediocre-Tip2954 6h ago

cutesy animes might lowkey just be result of such system where frustrated people make media as an escape from all the problems

u/Jetsam5 7h ago

They're Mediterranean

u/throwaway_1053 6h ago

Theyโ€™re not any really whiter than anybody native to Europe (esp. Southern Europe but even other native Europeans look like that) if they were ย mostly Christian then people would surely percrive them as an extension of Greek people

u/After-Trifle-1437 8h ago

They're spiritually white

u/Narco_Marcion1075 9h ago

If Italians and Greeks are white, then so are they

u/fumeurdecig 7h ago

Now if I'm not mistaken turks have a lot of kazakh genes

u/Narco_Marcion1075 7h ago

Yeah but I mean, looking at the average Turkish person, they mostly look similar to their regional counterparts

Oh, I thought it means like west asian so the difference is between western Asia and Asians living in western world

u/CustodianCloset The Teto guy who likes Economics 11h ago edited 10h ago

Turkey is literally an Asian country (just, with European and African ties).

Edit: Uh oh

u/Polipod 10h ago

It's a transcontinental country, it's both in Asia and in Europe (only for a bit though). I don't get the African connection though, unless you're going back all the way to the Ottoman times

u/CustodianCloset The Teto guy who likes Economics 10h ago

Yeah I'm mostly referring to the Ottoman empire and it's influence/relations with Africa. Modern day Turkey doesn't really have that but that wasn't the case for like, 90% of it's history.

u/pepsicola07 They call me Bubba the Stallion 11h ago

u/PortraitOfAMadwoman 9h ago

Turkey is famously a predominantly Muslim european country

u/TARDISMapping Da Devil 7h ago

Turkey is famously not European. It has a small amount of territory in Europe, but that doesn't make it European any more than Hawaii makes the US a Pacific Island nation. French Guiana is in South America and comprises much more of French territory than Turkey's European holdings, you'd be hard pressed to find someone saying that France is a South American nation.

u/throwaway98919143 5h ago

while i agree calling turkey a european nation is incorrect, i disagree with the comparison to french guiana, because nearly 1/4th of the turkish population lives in the european part, and istanbul was one of the most important cities for european history and culture. it also has a much more direct connection to "metropolitan" turkey than guiana does to metropolitan france. i think the much more convincing question is how the nation is involved culturally and diplomatically with other parts of the world. but the debate about whether or not turks are europeans is completely irrelevant to the post, where the problem is whether theyre "white," which like, no they are not, quite obviously

u/PortraitOfAMadwoman 7h ago

French Guiana is a possession of France, not France. Try again.

u/throwaway98919143 5h ago

no, legally it is 100% french and has the same rights, laws, and duties as every other french administrative region, and is also part of the european union.

u/TARDISMapping Da Devil 7h ago

Integrated into the Republic formally in 1946, it quite literally is France.

u/PortraitOfAMadwoman 6h ago

It is ultimately irrelevant. To talk about anything but contiguous land contributes nothing

u/TARDISMapping Da Devil 6h ago edited 6h ago

Well, you shouldn't be talking about Turkey either, then. It's separated by the Bosphorus. And I suppose Northern Ireland must not be a part of the UK, then. And Alaska doeen't count in America, does it? New Zealand's made up of two disconnected islands, which is the only one that counts? Suppose Indonesia must seem really small to you.

u/PortraitOfAMadwoman 6h ago

I'm gonna keep it a stack, I just shouldn't try to debate geography while drinking.

wasian is specifically white + asian

u/Ringosis 10h ago

Gotta love people who go so hard with the condescension when they're completely wrong. Turkiye is politically not part of the EU, and geographically 97% of it is part of Asia.

u/loptthetreacherous 10h ago

Okay, but that means someone can have a White dad from the 3% of Tรผrkiye that is European and a Pakistani mother and that would make them White and Asian.

I don't see what the EU has to do with this. I'm a white European who isn't in an EU country.

u/Ringosis 9h ago

...I'm seriously confused why you think someone would have to be from the European part of Turkiye to be white. Guess what...you could be a White Asian when both your parents are from China.

u/loptthetreacherous 3h ago edited 3h ago

How are you defining white person? I know race is a very vague term, but light skinned Europeans seem pretty definitively inside the broader category of white.

u/Ringosis 1h ago

Lol... I'm defining white people as people who are white? There literally isn't a country on the planet with no white people. So again...why do you think they would have to be from the European part of Turkiye to be white?

Race has fuck all to do with location.

u/[deleted] 10h ago

[deleted]

u/Ringosis 10h ago

Lol racist? I listed two indisputable facts.

Turkiye is almost entirely in Asia and countries do not have to be in Europe to be part of the EU. See Cyprus...100% in the Middle East. Currently an EU member.

u/[deleted] 10h ago

[deleted]

u/Ringosis 10h ago

Lol for fuck sake mate. At no point did it even enter my mind what colour people in Turkiye are until YOU brought it up.

I'm simply stating fact. Turkiye is neither politically or geographically part of Europe. 15% of the population live in the 3% of the landmass that's part of the European continent. Both its people and it's land are predominantly Asian. Joining the EU wouldn't change that.

The only thing that could be construed as racism here is you seemingly thinking me suggesting Turkiye is in Asia is some kind of insult. What do you have against Asia? Why are you denying reality?

u/Ok-Scientist-2111 11h ago

A larger part of the country is in Asia

u/JupiterboyLuffy 9h ago

it's both european and asian

In what world are Turks white?

u/averagemethenjoyer 11h ago

When they have enough capital to be accepted as so (historically)

u/Excellent_Mud6222 11h ago

Depends how a Turk feels that day.

u/coffeenerd12 8h ago

I mean a lot of them look like Greeks Italians and Balkan people โ€œwhiteโ€ isnโ€™t a real thing but a lot of them certainly have the skin

u/usbeject1789 NOT in the epstein files, contrary to popular opinion 11h ago

i mean white is a social construct and in many cases they fit that description

u/InteRagebaitJagLovar 11h ago

Nah bro they karaboga as fuck

u/Xanadoodledoo 9h ago

It depends on if the person judging them is aware theyโ€™re Turkish. If they have an American accent and itโ€™s not clear that theyโ€™re Muslim (either practicing or ancestrally) then they can pass as Greek and therefore white.

u/Sensitive_Educator60 11h ago

In his Defense I also only recently Found out that Mexicans and Asians donโ€™t count as white.

u/friedhobo 11h ago

What are you some kind of European Communist

u/Iron166 11h ago

Calling Turkish white is a stretch but okay. I mean both Turkish and Pakistanis have some whiteness in them (Greeks and Proto-Indo-Europeans)

u/PancakeParty98 11h ago

Lol thatโ€™s not how race works. Itโ€™s a made up vibes-based thing for how we perceive others in a racial caste system, applying this geographic logic is silly

which one is supposed to be white

u/Sir-Toaster- Emperor of the Omniverse 11h ago

Turkish people aren't generally considered "white."

u/No_Explorer6054 7h ago

well, dont threaten me with a good time! (I am about to be put in a wheelchair for two days)

u/Faszkivan_13 3h ago

Maybe the white part was the friends we made along the way

u/shabib4 11h ago

can you show an example

u/jonatanenderman 10h ago

Are you saying the turkish or the pakistani are white?

u/VinChaJon 5h ago

Asian is a race specifically referring to people from north-east Asia and Turkish and Pakistani people are neither Asian nor white. Why do you people not understand this.
