I just ignore those type of videos tbh, they're just biased opinion coated in fancy words and cool sounds just to make you agree with them, not to inform you anything good.
Hell, I've just started avoiding lengthy negative review video essays altogether. Even if I agree something sucks, those sort of vids rarely give me new insight and frequently worsen my mood.
Y'know, both the audience and the critic score matter.
Audience score tells you that the film was generally enjoyable and/or appealed to a lot of people.
Critic score, more often than not, tells you if it's actually good, and well thought-out.
For example: FNAF 2. The audience score's pretty good but the critic score is abysmal. I think the film is awful. It's a film "made for the fans" but they seem to not know that the fans aren't all actual children.
BOTH is what should be aimed for. Leave enough room for both spectacle and substance.
I guess I was around the same age as you and I can totally understand it.
X-Men movies were doing pretty well, Raimi Spider-Man was the best thing ever, spoof films weren't as tiring and overdone (at least for kids) and Drake Bell had screen recognition from the TV Show.
So it was a great movie for a kid raised in the early 2000s.
Also, Leslie Nielsen as Uncle Ben is just so perfect in so many way.
I love the scene so much where he's helping the teenagers fight the scary automatons and then his watch beeps and he just turns and walks into the break room to take his fucking lunch break.
Willy's Wonderland is such an amazing execution of just something that's kinda stupid but a really fun ride. It's not the greatest movie ever but it was really fun, and honestly that counts for a lot.
I recently rewatched the first one, I feel like it nosedives halfway through when Greg and Rowley stop being friends the movie takes a nosedive in quality.
I should really watch these movies. I never heard of them, because Diary of a wimpy kid is not really well known in Russia. But as far as I've seen, the Trilogy was really good. Can't say the same about the fourth one.
Also, Rodrick is very handsome and I am gonna watch the movies simply because I love the actor who plays him.
Edit: watched the first movie on the internet archive. It was pretty funny, but I didn't like some gross out humour bits and overall I think it's decent. Rowley is absolutely adorable and I want to protect him with my life.

Fucking pushed myself to watch it all the way thinking it'd get good at some point. Nah, the film's just pretty but the stuff just didn't make much sense.
This movie's so good it's barely even a Cars film. It's like someone had a separate script and said "you know who would be fun to see in this flick? That wilely blue-collar junker-junker; get me the Cableguy."
The whole concept is absurdly funny when you look at it and think, "Did they try to make a serious Cars spy movie but at the last minute realize they needed to tie it back to the main cast so they included Mater?", or alternatively, "Did they really make the whole spy narrative, darker plotline, near-death of McQueen,, with Mater in mind from the beginning??", either option is incredible.
I've also never seen Johnny English, Cars 2 is my Johnny English.
I really liked Nefarious but apparently it's made by some weird ass religious guys so I got downvoted to hell a while back in a horror sub when I put it as a recommendation.
I had no idea of the stuff behind the scenes, I just liked it.
It was decent. One of those movies that take place on three sets and only has half a dozen actors. It's nothing flashy but the therapist and prisoner do a good job.
I've definitely seen worse demonic possession movies.
Ra.one was apparently not well accepted when it came out in the studios. But recently it suddenly got a lot of recognition and everyone wants a sequel.
Too little too late now... I've waited for years for that sequel but it never came

Genuinely had to stop a friendship over this. Every time I'd mention a movie, series, game or even book he'd stop the conversation, look up its rating, and base whatever he says next on it on that. Even if it's something he's already seen.
We watched Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter as a group. Was a good time. We all liked it, even he did. Later on after it was done, he looked up its rating and suddenly "it was a waste of time, should have watched something else".
That sounds fucking exhausting. I remember a while where people would google things mid conversation to get the right answer instead of talking, I'm so happy none of my mates use AI to answer.
Bayverse Transformers (only the trilogy, 4 and 5 don't exist in my eyes.) As much as i know how unfaithful it was to the source material. Old me loved it and i still love it and i can easily shut down my brain while i watch the funny cars transform and wreck shit and kick ass.
It's such a good movie when it's about awesome fucking robots and some of the best CGI in movies, and not about the main character trying to romance another woman and making uncomfortable sex jokes.
Me with Passenger. I kinda get the main guy's actions. The guy is practically driven to insanity via being alone for that amount of time. He wasn't thinking straight. Even later, one of the other guy was released, he understand his actions and accept it's not right. "Its creepy dude!!!", yeah the movie acknowledged it. They made up over it after the main guys 'sacrifice'.
Interestingly it's one of the highest rated movies on Letterboxd. I was surprised with how high its rating was because I remember it getting a very mixed reception when it came out.
The fact that people actually let Ewoks (legitimately a perfectly fine part of the Star Wars universe) affect their appreciation of this masterpiece is just... Idk what to say.
I mean COME ON. The Vader vs. Luke fight aboard the Death Star 2 was just absolute fucking CINEMA. Vader's redemption, and Luke's final interaction with him as Vader dies, makes me bawl like a baby to this day. And the Battle of Endor, both in space and on the ground, is absolutely one of the greatest sequences in all of Star Wars.
While it wasn't exactly Starship Troopers from 1997, I still fucking enjoyed it. I see Invasion as more of a love letter to Military Sci-Fi. The movie has so many cliches it loops back to being fun somehow. So many tropes are here I didn't even know what the movie was trying to copy, one moment it was Halo, the next moment it was Dead Space, and so on
I actually like Chicken Little. Of course the part with Foxie getting brainwashed into becoming Runt's girlfriend is weird, but overall I think it's decent.
The opposite happened to me and Anastasia. I thought it was dogshit, even for a kids movie, the most lazy and shameless Disney copycat that strips the tropes of the princess genre down to it's most boring cliches with a poor execution and only a unique setting and an entertaining villan as redeeming qualities.
On top of it all, it's not a good choice for historical fiction. Painting the Romanovs as an idealic noble family when you know their history leaves a bad taste on my mouth. Bloddy Sunday and all that.
And yet it has a Letterboxed score above 4.0 and a ton of glowing reviews. I don't like attacking people's nostalgia but come on guys, it's probably one of the worst movies of it's kind.

I completely ignore reviews and don't care about someone's negative opinion on my favorite things. People oddly get mad when they express their negative opinion on a movie I like and I say "ok cool."
People are weird.
Hate me for it but the fight against the dead in winterfell was good. I think people are overreacting. It wasnt amazing, and sometimes a bit chaotic to watch, but i think that was the view the writers had
I felt the opposite way with Stranger Things season 4. People seemed to like it, but I despised it. I thought it was just as bad as season 5, if not worse. What a bloated mess
