The Type 051 destroyer was China’s first domestically developed generation of guided-missile destroyers. By August 2020, all vessels of this class had been retired from service.

• World War II Engagements: Served actively in the Arctic (including the Murmansk Run), the English Channel, the Bay of Biscay, and Normandy. She took part in numerous aggressive anti-shipping sweeps (such as Operations Tunnel and Hostile) and major gun battles against German destroyers, torpedo boats, and U-boats.
• Vessels Sunk/Destroyed: Credited with helping sink or destroy 14 enemy ships, including the German destroyer Z32, torpedo boat T29, and the U-boat U-971 
• Korean War Tours: Completed two combat tours (1952–1954), earning fame as a "train buster" for destroying enemy supply trains along the coast.
• Official Battle Honours: Formally awarded 5 battle honours across her career: Arctic (1943–1945), English Channel (1944), Normandy (1944), Bay of Biscay (1944), and Korea (1952–1953).

According to the post - the RSS Steadfast arrived at Ma Xie Naval Base in Zhanjiang to participate in the sea phase of the bilateral Exercise Maritime Cooperation (XMC) with the People’s Liberation Army (Navy) [PLA Navy]. The PLA Navy will be participating in the exercise with the Jiangkai-II-class frigate PLANS Dali.

RSS Steadfast is on the final leg of its three-month deployment, during which it has participated in several bilateral and multilateral exercises. These included a passage exercise with the Italian Navy , multinational group sails from the Philippines to Hawaii , multinational Exercise Rim of the Pacific, Exercise SINGAPAN with Japan , and the ongoing XMC 2026 with the People’s Republic of China. The RSN’s participation in these exercises enhances mutual learning, understanding and cooperation with a wide network of international partners.
