Miscellaneous Religious Activists on Campus

The people with the loud speakers ranting, the booths, the signs. It’s really kind of creepy. Especially the things they say as well. Overall I feel like the religious ranting sounds creepier than it is inspirational. I do not need to be saved. It is also just a bunch of old men…

The recruitment seems relentless. Don’t they realize it feels predatory?

This is a very normal part of the college experience.

They are energized by fighting you. It's what they want.

I'd recommend not interacting with them or even looking at them. They are trolls and don't deserve your time or emotional effort. Keep walking.

It's so hard to ignore them but any type of engagement is what they want. It feeds their persecution complex. Same with the aggressive pro-birthers with the graphic signs. Also, most of them have cameras/are filming.

If they realized what was creepy and what feels predatory, they wouldn’t be religious activists…

They’re annoying, especially those with graphic images to display. Is usually best to ignore but I usually hit them with a “fuck off”, “burn in hell” or “i’m jewish” if they stop to talk to me.

Some of them are paid to do that, believe it or not. Salesmen for Jesus

It’s the dark side of freedom. They are free to be POS.

If most of them had their way, we wouldn’t be free.

Correct. But the irony is that taking away their freedom would make us them.

I agree with you, but prosperity gospel Evangelicals are actively in power and pulling the strings via culture war issues. They should be free, but people should just actively ignore them and/or treat them with open hostility. But the latter is what they want, so even better is just laughing at them.

Also, let’s not pretend that the US doesn’t have pretty abysmal free speech and (especially) free press standards compared to most of the other Western democracies. We’re 64th.

The cost of living in a pluralistic society is that you will encounter people you find repulsive. Get over it.

I don't know what they're saying, but I doubt it's anything truly "creepy" or "predatory." You just don't like the Christian message.
