I’m almost a month into my first year here and I haven't really made any friends yet. I’ve met plenty of acquaintances and potential friends but no one I consider a friend yet. I ended up joining band and I kinda like it. I’ve met a lot of people and it was a good way to get used to campus but it's pretty time-consuming and I probably won't come back next year. I got a job on campus and am thinking of doing 1 or 2 clubs. I am an introvert who needs some time to get used to new people and extra time to consider them friends. Maybe I’m just rushing myself idk. I also commute so I don't stay on campus past 6/7 pm. Did anyone else struggle to make friends, if so how did you overcome it?

I applied to the MS. Computer Science program for Fall 2025, and got denied. My undergrad GPA was 2.46, which I know its below the stated 2.75 stated minimum, so I know that was the main reason.

I'm still really interested in the program and want to reapply in a stronger position instead of just resubmitting the same application. I emailed the graduate program a few times ago asking for advice but haven't heard back yet.

Has anyone here been in a similar spot (denied for GPA) and successfully gotten in on a later try? A few things I'm wondering:

• Is there an academic advisor or counselor I can actually talk to about this, rather than just emailing into the void?
• Does retaking classes, doing a post-bacc, or taking grad courses as a non-degree student actually help with a GPA like mine?
• Is there any kind of provisional/conditional admission path for people below the GPA cutoff?

Any advice, even just "here's who you should actually contact," would help a lot.

I'm a 4th year stem student with a capstone requirement for my major. I didn't realize until recently what a capstone was (I misunderstood a course description a long time ago and genuinely thought it was just a class I was supposed to take - dumb I know) and now I feel seriously behind because I feel like I should've... joined a project by now? This semester is the first time my profs have ever mentioned capstones, and they're saying 3rd/4th years are already way behind. I don't even know where to start. Advice please 😭

Has anyone had issues with financial aid? I am still waiting for my pell grant and my loan to be applied but it's anticipated so I know I won't be dropped. I'm just frustrated because that's holding my refund back as well. Would love to hear everyone's thoughts.

hey tomorrow is the start of my first semester. I am a worrier. I did not get my zips card yet. i see that they are used for building access. will I be able to get to my classrooms during normal class hours with out swiping a card? I plan on getting the card of course but I’ll have little time to get it before my first class. I thought it was more for the meal plan and that sort of stuff but I didn’t realize it was also for building access? Is that accurate? I went to the events this weekend but totally forgot about the zip card

So, what'd I get wrong? Akron completed 51% of its passes last year, 135th in the country, and converted 31% of third downs, 131st. Meanwhile Jordan Gant ran for 1,032 yards and the entire backfield returns. One thing my page won't tell you: my data only holds Reese Poffenbarger's North Texas backup line, so it undersells him badly. The guy threw for 6,613 yards at Albany and led all of FCS in passing yards and touchdowns in 2023. Does he fix this offense, or is the real problem the line that gave up 34 sacks?

Hello. My first undergrad semester is in two weeks. Am curious what the students are using for their course work, is it mainly Macs or PC? I have a full time job, changing careers, so price point isn’t a huge factor. My major is health services. Highly unlikely I’ll do any video editing or gaming with this machine so “high performance” isn’t necessary. Just strictly course work. My question is, is course work submitted required to be one format or another (Microsoft office based vs Mac), though I know Microsoft office can be ran on a Mac. I see the bookstore only sells PC so perhaps that should answer my question. Any guidance would be appreciated. I’m mid life and feel lost in the sauce. I’ve been out of college for 20 years, things were so much simpler then.

Hi guys. I exhausted all of my federal loans (and did not know until last month) (i know i should’ve been more careful but im a non traditional adult student so im a bit clueless)

The worst part is I’m in my last two semesters and I’ve been reaching out to everybody I can about scholarships or funding that I could use. And I have an appointment with opportunities for disabled Ohioans but it’s not until after the due date for our bill is. if they backdate it that would be great, but if I don’t pay my bill by the start of the semester, can I not take the classes? I’m already registered for now? I have some grants left, but it won’t fully be covered until I either find helpful funding or apply for personal loans which is not ideal as a single mother working part-time.🤣

Lost bracelet

I recently lost a very important gold bracelet on campus recently, Wednesday to be exact and was wondering if anyone at all has seen it, I just don't know what to do anymore 😭. It was a gift from my dad for my 16th birthday and I just feel awful about losing it. Its golden very small with 3 white clovers on it. I think I might have lost it walking from SIM to MaryGladwin, but im not too sure.

So I (a student) got a parking ticket last semester. I never paid it because fuck that. My tags were expired when they issued the ticket, and then a few weeks afterward I got a permit and renewed my tags. So today I got onto the Uakron Park website, and under “my citations” that ticket is not there when I type in my license plate. I think it just disappeared.

By the way, has anyone on here ever had admin tell them they couldn’t graduate until their parking fines were paid? If not, fuck it.

What exactly happened to the corrosion engineering degree? All I know of is that it was terminated. I was hoping to have taken the course. All parts of the site surrounding corrosion engineering were deleted, aside from some articles.

I was wondering if there are campus jobs that are for the entire year instead of a semester-long job. I’m looking for something flexible that isn't super difficult. Does anyone have any recommendations?

Hello everyone. I’m researching ABSN programs in the area and am curious if anyone has experience with this particular program at UA? If not the ABSN program, how is the standard nursing program?

I know any program like this will be difficult. I’m more interested in the quality of the program, the professors, the equipment, the connections to hospitals for clinicals.
