Campus Life University Men's Club
Have you ever felt alone on campus? Have you ever felt like you need to pretend in order to fit in? Have you ever felt overwhelmed by life? Have you ever felt lost, without a sense of direction or purpose? Have you ever wanted to do something about it? Well now is your chance.
We are interested in creating a men’s group on campus that develops both strong friendships and a sense of community. In a world constantly flooding us with information on how to live, it becomes virtually impossible to find the “right” way to be a man. As a result, many men don’t even know where to start, leading to feelings of alienation, inadequacy, loneliness, and/or aimlessness. In addition to these feelings, are expectations. Expectations that can feel impossible. So impossible that the only way to achieve them is to pretend to be someone else. We craft intricate personas to meet the demands of others and society, while simultaneously hiding who we really are. We escape to the digital world, afraid to let those in our physical reality see our true selves. But it doesn’t have to be this way. Through the rekindling of genuine human connection, we can alleviate these feelings, and begin to form real connections with no expectations attached, allowing people to be seen and accepted for who they are. This is our goal.
To accomplish this, our group seeks to create a space, both physical and digital, where individuals can talk about emotions, decisions, relationships, academics, and anything else, free of judgement. At our in-person sessions, held every week, you will find we are all people, we have the same needs, and we have many of the same problems. Through this discovery, the gaps that divide us will shrink, while the bonds that connect us will grow. Ultimately, we desire to create a home on campus that is influenced and shaped by your unique perspective.
It is normal to feel weak, broken, or lost. Life is hard, nobody is perfect, and it’s okay to ask for help. You are a capable individual, with many positive qualities that are unique to you. So, by accepting each other for our strengths and weaknesses we can remove the false masks we wear and move toward a more authentic and meaningful life. We want to thank you for taking time out of your busy lives to read through our ad, we hope it has inspired you to join us on this journey. Remember, we are stronger together. Find your people, find yourself.
