Streaming News Really enjoyed watching Dark Matter. 8.5/10

Post image

It’s one of those shows that keeps you hooked, especially with every door Jason opens. It made me think about the choices we make in life and wonder—what if we had chosen differently? Would we be happier, or would we just end up regretting it anyway?

Love this show. I’m waiting to renew my Apple TV subscription until after season 2 is fully released.

I gave up after 3 eps. Even though I keep reading everywhere it's such a great show, it just couldn't hold my attention. Feel free to convince me though :)

Let us hope it’s not like Silo. Season 2 of Silo was a big slog until the last 2 episodes. I was close to just giving up

I enjoyed the Dark Matter book but loved the Silo book series, and I don’t really enjoy either of the shows. Especially Silo, they made too many changes that made the books great

I gave up with the amnesia plot line, the only thing worse is the everything was a dream tropes

Dark matter is 100x better than silo will ever be lol

The same. I like reading the book but the show I just couldn’t get into which I felt very weird about because I love Jennifer Connelly.

Same for me.

I thought it was just me who gave up after 3 episodes.

It's the actor playing the main character. He's a complete dud. It's a great story though.

I did the same thing. A year later I tried again and love the show.

the second season is kinda poo poo ngl

u/Medical_Fuel8214 22h ago

Hope it picks up as not been amazing so far ….

Second season is disjointed so far.

u/HurryAdorable1327 18h ago

This didn’t need a second season. The book ending with ambiguity is better than this show trying to resolve the infinite threads.

Nah I’m 100% down for Leighton. I almost wish this was a spinoff focused on him.

Only 2 episodes in and you are saying it's a bad show? Silo Season 3 spent 5 episodes on a memory loss plot just to reveal what happened in season 2 again and people say it's one of the best shows ever.

u/Working_Arachnid_661 16h ago

Yes 2 episodes in and im saying its a bad season. Also Silo is vastly superior lmfao

u/OllieeePan 16h ago

Silo where the main character was surrounded by boiling vapour when trying to cool down the generator but came out intact? How is physically possible?

u/Working_Arachnid_661 16h ago

idk google it

I don't need to because I've been to school.

Makes sense think it was a one and done book, which is fantastic btw

one of my best shows. I love the concept of the 5 dimensional box that you have to take a drug to comprehend cope what's going on inside the box.

u/MarzipanSeparate1623 3h ago

I hate the drug part, like how can a chemical running inside your veins put you in superposition or whatever the explanation was... It makes zero sense.

They should have just kept it a 1 season show. I started watching s2 yesterday. It wasn’t terrible, just a bit boring. There’s no more source material for the writers to follow, so I’ll be curious to see how much of a drop off in quality there’ll be. Hopefully it’s minimal.

u/FrontRoom866 19h ago

The author of the book is writing season 2 of the show. In other words THE SOURCE IS WRITING SEASON 2. Smh

u/BearlySakura 16h ago

That doesn't mean it has to be good. I mean, if he didn't write a second book first, it's probably because there wasn't more inspiration.

Now inspiration is money.

My Dark Matter.

I'm excited to see what happens this season! The last epi set a lot up

I got hooked on the premise, season one was slow but enough information was given that by the end of it everything made sense. Started season 2 and it’s been ok with how they continue the same theme of having to fight with their decisions splintering and the foreshadowing with the private investigator from the new world is going to make for a good arc.

Usually with these types of stories the Hollywood star tries to make a big deal that they are playing to characters, and it kinda ruins the story. I’m not picking that up from Joel Edgerton at all.

u/crinkly_sausage 21h ago

I thought it was ok. The main question I have every week is if the main guy can act well or not. Still can't figure it out.

u/poison_cat_ 21h ago

The book was amazing, haven’t seen the show yet

u/Plus_Ad4963 19h ago

7 od 10

u/ludangu28 18h ago

This was really good but opposite to what usually happens in the last episodes, this show was a bit dissapointing

u/Alpharoll 18h ago

I loved the premise, but I can't stand the actor playing the main character. He's like an automated mannequin. He has no charisma, barely any facial movements, his eyes are dead and he looks utterly bored all the time. This series would have been amazing, if they just had cast a more skilled and alive actor.

u/Tomhyde098 16h ago

I read the book and enjoyed it. I thought the pilot was kind of bad but the ending song needle drop was so bad that I sat there flabbergasted while the credits rolled. So unbelievably terrible

u/JDeeee44 13h ago

That is next after Star City.

u/Slow-Hawk4652 6h ago

i preferred the constellation, but no bonus...

Apple is the home of sci-fi now !! Love dark matter. Silo is great too!

u/PiIlc 2h ago

Great start but after a few episode is becomes boring incoherent and half of the characters are dumb and not well written. This could have been a movie instead of 2 empty seasons
