In this part, I delved into the history of the High Orchard Branch Line, which ran from Gloucester Railway Station to Gloucester Docks during the 19th and the first half of the 20th centuries. The purpose of this was primarily to serve the warehouses, which manufactured goods at the time. Although this branch line no longer exists, you can still see remnants of it littered around the city today.

DL 1776 trailing 2nd in on NS 316, built as a MLW C630 for the British Colombia Railway as 707 in 1970, is spend slowly making it's return home after the 250 locomotive event over in Spencer, NC.

Visited Nebraska over the weekend and saw some neat trains. Thought I’d share

I read that the LB&SCR E2 class were in Whyte notation 0-6-0 meaning it had no leading wheels, 6 powered driving wheels, and no trailing wheels. It had this particular configuration because the smaller locomotives in the 0-4-0 were too weak to be effective shunters and having too many axles would make it hard to make tight turns, although the E2 had some difficulties with turns too. Any examples of locomotives with the configurations 0-6-2, 2-6-2, or 2-6-6? What advantages would any of these wheel arrangements be? For example, with 8 axles you could have a 2-6-0 instead of 0-6-2 so there had to be some advantage of not having front axles otherwise they would have not used that arrangement.

In Japan, popular subjects for photography include trains making their final runs, special event trains, test runs following maintenance (photographers come to capture the pristine condition and the "Test Run" destination display), the delivery of new rolling stock, and chartered group excursion trains. Popular shooting locations are spots where sunlight illuminates the train and the background allows for a beautiful, well-balanced composition; examples include the "Monosaku" section of the Narita Line, the "Isekoma" area on the Ryōmō Line, and the straight stretch at Yoshinari on the Kōtoku Line.

On the morning of Monday September 7, 1885 Clint Eastwood, a stranger who first appeared in Hill Valley days earlier, defeated notorious outlaw Buford "Mad Dog" Tannen in a duel in front of the Palace Saloon. Eastwood was then seen leaving town with local blacksmith Emmett Brown. Schoolteacher Clara Clayton, who had just moved to the town, was also spotted leaving Hill Valley soon after.

Eastwood and Brown were next seen robbing the Central Pacific Railroad westbound train, which was led by locomotive 131. Unlike typical train robberies of the time, where passengers were stripped of valuables or the baggage/cargo cars were raided, Eastwood and Brown stole the locomotive itself for unknown reasons.

Locomotive 131 was switched onto a track leading to Shonash Ravine, where a bridge was being constructed. Eastwood and Brown proceeded in the locomotive and Clayton was witnessed chasing them on horseback. Because the next events occurred in an isolated area away from Hill Valley, the exact actions of Eastwood, Brown, and Clayton were unknown. The burnt remnants of locomotive 131 were later discovered in Shonash Ravine, having gone over the unfinished bridge.

Eastwood is assumed to have plummeted into the ravine with locomotive 131, perishing in its fiery crash. As a memorial to his death and heroic defeat over Tannen, the ravine was renamed Eastwood Ravine.

A DMIR class M4 “Yellowstone”, is depicted pulling a train of Iron Ore and along side is a road. The two cars along side the giant engine are both 1949 model year cars with the car to the left being a 1949 Chevrolet Fleetline and the car on the right being a 1949 Lincoln Cosmopolitan. As what’s said in the post title, the image takes place during 1950 so it’s within the time frame the Yellowstones were in service. I like Yellowstone locos. They are big and powerful and you know American loves big and powerful things just look at the cars we by and the cars our automakers make. Yellowstone locomotives truly represent America’s personality in my opinion.
