Discussion Opinions on the Double Take?
Simple question: What do you all think about the Double Take? Personally it's my main weapon, I love this gun.

Love it, really bad with it :))

The first four hits I landed with it were my first two shots.
It all went downhill from there.

G5 dt here, this thing has so much rng tied to it that it makes me love it even more somehow

G200 D2 here, there's not much RNG with the D2, you only experience RNG when hipfiring or when ADS'ing (ADS'ing moves your crosshair slightly off from where it was before aiming in a random direction, this happens for all weapons) The D2 is always consistent and always fire's 3 projectiles, missing one can lower your damage but it's not RNG.

3 projectiles? you sure you aren't talking about apex? Other than that yea ig

Double Take has 3 projectiles. The one in the middle is invisible. Thats why they renamed it the Tripple Take in Apex

Pairs very nicely with A-Wall, would be my favorite weapon in the game if it wasn’t a little map dependent

My favorite weapon in the game, and most used. But certainly not the best, and kinda infuriating at times. It feels like one of the higher skill ceilings in the game to get good with it, and it’s really satisfying when you’re on a streak with it.

After my relationships with the EPG and wingman elite this girl won my heart. Absolute favorite sniper rifle.

Not what I'd pick because I suck at high speed sniper aiming (flicks and shit) but I love it.
And even better in apex, naturally fuck apex but yeah

I suck at quick sniping too. That's why my most played weapon is Kraber. Purple Kraber. And one of my favourite titans is Northstar. And I play them both at the the same time. Pure sniping. |:]
(I was actually a decent sniper, I think, and quite good with the Northstar, though I haven't played in awhile, and probably lost all my skills.)

Man saying you suck at sniping but then saying you main the Jesus of video game snipers is baller, I try to avoid sniping in multiplayer because even if I enjoy and have aim trained for it, ill hesitate and will just hard scope my targets

Same, though I'm always trying to taste every niche loadout or character in any game, and then play all of them as equal as I can. Kraber and Northstar cliked with me on aesthetics level, then I pushed through the hard losses to enjoy small victories(one-shotting someone in the leg is so fun). Eventually I just got a bit better, and noticed that I was playing sniper a lot more then I thought I was. XD
Legion is my second by the way.

It looks awesome. Hipfire is somehow very effective. Don't pick it often, but I know it's a good weapon.

On the road to G10 all weapons, this one I had most fun with. Supersatisfying to use. Basically a mid-range shotgun.

used to love playing it, realised I suck with it, feel like a proud parent whenever I see someone using it.

u/Squbles "Who's using the Double Take!?" (it's me) 20h ago edited 20h ago
My Double Take is at G48 so I have a fair few things to say about it. My emotional support sniper rifle thats less consistent than my father's presence in my life. Its like they took the worst parts of the DMR and Kraber and turned them into a gun with its own special little defects. For example: The Krabers biggest downsides are is its low fire rate and projectile speed (bullet drop is negligible on most maps) these are heavily outweighed by the MASSIVE upside that one bullet kills anywhere on the body. This means the Kraber is most effective at medium-close range flick-shots where bullet speed and drop are a non-factor and you can kill quicker than most other guns in the game (exceptions being other one-shots like the epg, or the mastiff at close range)
The DMRs biggest downside is that the Time to Kill pales in comparison to the Kraber taking 2 shots to kill (or one headshot). Landing one shot with the kraber at close quaters is WAY easier than landing two shots with the DMR in the same distance. This is made up for by having the fastest fire rate of the 3 snipers AND being hitscan. Meaning its best used as a "sit and camp" type sniper.
So what if we made a gun that had the travel time of the kraber, the low damage of the DMR AND had its own downside of somehow only being able to land HALF A FUCKING SHOT. Sounds like a nightmare right? The DOUBLE TAKE is a projectile sniper rifle that shoots 2 rounds per shot. Hitting both shots still does less damage than the DMR. and it takes 3 rounds to kill. And if you aim poorly (or the target is too far away) it is fully possible to hit only 1 one of the 2 fired rounds. This means the Double Take requires, anywhere from 1-3 trigger pulls to kill a pilot, 3 trigger pulls, by the way, is half of your magazine. Oh wait im getting a phone call hold on-
EVERYTHING I JUST SAID ABOUT THE DOUBLE TAKE WAS WRONG. FUN FACT THE DOUBLE TAKE SHOOTS A 3RD INVISIBLE POJECTILE DOWN THE MIDDLE. SO ALL THE INCONSISTENCY I DESCRIBED THAT STEMS FROM THE POSSIBILITY OF HITTING HALF A SHOT. YEAH ITS ACTUALLY POSSIBLE TO HIT ONE THIRD OF A SHOT. EACH OF THESE SHOTS DOES THIRTY DAMAGE. A PILOT HAS 100 HEALTH. MEANING THE DOUBLE TAKE CAN ACTUALLY TAKE FOUR PULLS OF THE TRIGGER TO KILL A SINGLE PILOT. ITS NOT COMMON, BUT ITS HAPPENED TO ME AT LEAST TWICE. The G2, an assult rifile, is hitscan and takes 3 shots at any range to kill a pilot. And the projectiles spread MORE the further out your target is. So its a sniper rifle that actively becomes worse the further away what you're shooting at is.
The ONE upside the double take is that the factory scope makes it slightly better at closer ranges than the Kraber. But again I (and most other people) find it way easier to land one flick with the kraber than two consecutive shots with the double take, especially when scoped in at close range which makes tracking a nightmare.
The most optimal way to play the double take is with the RE45 as a secondary, land one shot at close range, switch, and spray and pray. Its not as fun as landing satisfying kills, but its effecient.
The only reason I still use this gun is because getting top of the lobby with it is a comparable dopamine high to winning a Smash tournament with Gannondorf or any other game with any other terribly off-meta pick.
TL;DR- Its pretty solid if you like losing gunfights because you aimed one pixel too far to the right and accidentally did 30 damage out of the total possible 90 in 1 shot

Didn't like it at first, then I replayed the campaign and it was the only gun I could get my hands on that I didn't hate. Then, I loved it. Starting to use it more.
