Micronutrient supplements are vitamin/mineral formulations that have been researched for things like ADHD, anxiety and emotional dysregulation. Unfortunately, NZ has some pretty outdated regulations around the permitted doses of certain nutrients, which can make some formulations difficult to access here. There’s also no real pathway to Pharmac funding, so cost can be a major barrier.
We’ve been speaking with MPs about these access issues, and they specifically encouraged people affected to contact their own local MPs directly. The only problem is that many people have no idea how to do this!
There’s now a simple 2-minute tool that anyone can use to contact their MP about this issue. It identifies your electorate MP and prepares the email for you. You can read/edit everything (including recipients) before deciding whether to send it.
You don’t need to have used micronutrients before. It’s also for people who would like to try them, or just think New Zealanders should have better access to different evidence-based treatment options.
For transparency: I’m a PhD researcher at UC working in nutrition and mental health and helped create this initiative. No commercial interest or political-party affiliation, and this is not research recruitment.

Kia ora e te whaanau, this just popped up on my fb feed and I'm wondering if anyone has more info about this opshop/charity?? It feels fishy af, like one of those trojan horse 'pro-life' charities that guilt trip or delay pregant women so they don't seek abortion. My spidey senses are tingling!! I ADORE opshopping so would like to be assured if I shop there my money is not going to those types of people. Thanks for any info!!

A few weeks back I posted a blog about the council meeting where they decided to make changes to how we elect councillors without any public consultation. This decision was over turned after Cllr Moroney submitted a Notice of Motion. At the time of the original meeting I wanted to know what had happened behind the scenes. So I submitted an official information request. Well I finally got the answers on Friday. You can read more here
My this week at council post will be a day or so late this week, as life has got in the way.

Hey everyone! I’m looking to meet some Christian friends around Hamilton. I’d love to connect with people who genuinely love Jesus and are keen to build friendships, encourage each other in faith, study the Bible, worship, or just hang out and have a good time.
I’m open to meeting people from different churches and backgrounds. 😊
If you’re also looking for Christian friendships, feel free to comment or send me a message. God bless! 🙏✝️

I'm coming to Hamilton on my motorcycle in a couple of hours for a family lunch, are there any motorcycle parks in Hamilton East?
I thought there used to be one outside The Cook but it doesn't look like there is one there any more on Google maps, and the council website only shows motorcycle parks in the central city.
I can just use a normal car park, but car drivers sometimes get p*ssy about that.
My partner and I have started home renovations and we're trying to choose a paint colour. We would like some sort of warm beige undertones. We have been stuck trying to decide between Resene Half Biscotti and Eighth Joss.
I know technically whichever colour we choose is probably ok but it would be nice to make the best choice. My partner likes the joss better as it's a little less saturated but still slightly warm. I think it looks a bit grey and prefer the biscotti. It really depends on placement and I think the biscotti looks pretty similar except for when it's next to the old ceiling which is too white for contrast.
It's all preference but does anyone have either of these colours in their house? What do you think of them?

Where would be a few places to look at getting a yard glass from in Hamilton?

There was a flurry of excitement in Ham East on Friday. There were 6 or 8 police cars racing around the shopping precinct around 9.30am. Does anyone know what had happened?

Hey guys, 29-year-old bloke in Hamilton here. Looking to meet some new people and make some mates figured I’d give Reddit a crack because apparently that’s what we do now.
I’m pretty into keeping fit and usually train 5 days a week, but I’m definitely not “I only eat chicken and broccoli and never leave the gym” levels of obsessed.
Love travelling, beaches, going out for food and drinks, finding new restaurants/cafes, checking out different places around the Waikato and love everything fashion related.
Big podcast/UFC fan too. Usually have JRE, Tim Dillon, Flagrant or Theo Von playing in the background. UFC nights, good food and a few drinks is pretty much a solid weekend in my books.
I’ve got a lovely girlfriend and no kids. Would be especially cool to meet some other couples around Hamilton with similar interests — always keen for double dates, trying new restaurants, drinks, beach trips or just hanging out.
Not looking to build a massive friendship empire
Just keen to meet some genuine, chill, like-minded people around Hamilton and see where it goes.
If you’re into any of the above, feel free to flick me a message! Cheers

We went to the Hamilton Gardens today and they were awesome and so creative.

Afternoon all. So our car is parked on the street in front of our house in Hamilton East. The left small back window was busted about a month ago, but they couldn't steal it because the battery was flat. We got a sturdy steering lock as a visual deterrent. This Tuesday or Wednesday the right small back window was busted in and they went through the car and nicked a few CDs. Both incidents reported to the cop but no action will be taken.
Can anyone recommend good quality outdoor cameras? Any other suggestions would be welcomed also.
Thanks in advance!

I've had a drummer get in touch with me who is keen to play some music, I've been getting into soul/funk music recently (Sekou mostly) and could be keen to jam
I play guitar, bass, trumpet, and can sing, looking for pretty much anyone who wants to play in a soul or funk band!

I could see it through my window, house surrounded, police running through the back yards. Megaphone on telling people to come out… at 6am.
All the roads around the area closed, streets blocked
Then forensics team went in. Just wondering if someone was selling drugs or something more sinister.

My due date is almost a week away and of course as a first time mum I can't stop over thinking about how labour will turn out or how the hospital experience will be like 😭 My midwife suggested to me birthing centers but they don't offer pain meds if I need it and no doctors on site incase of emergency so I'd love to know how you're hospital/birth center experience went🙏

First of all this post is not to discuss morality or views on abortion and whether it is right or wrong. That is not the point of the post.
Secondly, forgive the horrendous picture. I could only take it in the mirror after we had already passed them but you can make out enough to know what's going on. Also yes, I understand my mirror is filthy.
I see this around Hamilton quite often. An anti-abortion group sets up saying no to abortion and then this old man in an elf's hat follows them around, sits right next to them with a massive sign saying "I 🩷 abortion".
It's a fued that's been going on for years and literally like troll level 1000.
